Abstract
An efficient intramolecular cyclization reaction was developed to achive indenone derivatives. The substituted 1,5-diyenes were converted to the cooresponding indenones via gold-catalyzed organic transformation and moderate to excellent yields of the title molecules were obatined via formation of two C=O and one C-C bonds under mild reaction condtions in one-pot.

Abstract
Ruthenium vinyl carbenes derived from Cp/Cp*RuCl-based complexes (Cp=cyclopentadiene, Cp*=1,2,3,4,5-pentamethylcyclopentadiene) have been routinely invoked as key intermediates in tandem reactions involving a carbene/alkyne metathesis (CAM). A priori, these intermediates resemble the Grubbs-type family of catalysts, but they exhibit a completely different reactivity pattern that few, if any, other catalytic system can reproduce so far. The reactivity of these species with α-unsubstituted and α-substituted alkynals showcases the peculiarities of these intermediates. Although Z-vinyl dihydrooxazines are preferentially obtained with the former, Z-vinyl epoxypyrrolidines are obtained with the latter. A combination of spectroscopic and computational data now prove that a η3 -coordination mode of the ruthenium vinyl carbene and the presence of a Lewis basic chloride ligand give rise to two markedly different stereoelectronic faces, which are responsible for the unconventional reactivity of these species.

Abstract
A method for the generation of unprecedented vinyl carbenoids from sulfoxonium ylides has been developed and applied in the synthesis of a diverse array of heterocycles such as indolizines, pyrroles, 3-pyrrolin-2-ones, and furans. The reactions proceed by FeBr2 catalysis under mild reaction conditions with a broad substrate scope. A reaction pathway involving iron carbenoids is proposed based on a series of control experiments and DFT calculations.

Abstract
This review presents examples from the chemical literature of syntheses of bridged-polycyclic products via C–H bond insertion by carbenes and nitrenes. Applications to natural product synthesis, a description of the essential elements in substrate-controlled reactions, and mechanistic details of transformations are presented. Overall, these transformations allow the construction of important ring systems rapidly and efficiently, though additional catalyst development is needed.

Abstract
In the presence of a gold catalyst an unprecedented oxidative cyclization of diynes takes place. The reaction cascade is initiated by an oxygen transfer from a N-oxide onto a gold-activated alkyne. The formed α-oxo carbene is transferred across the second alkyne yielding a stabilized vinyl carbene/cation. Alkyl migration or sp(3)-CH insertion then terminates the catalytic cycle by formation of highly substituted functionalized indenones. A 1,6-carbene shift could be supported by the oxidation of the vinyl carbene. This protocol represents an attractive alternative to procedures which are based on the metal-catalyzed decomposition of hazardous, not easily accessible, diazo compounds.

Abstract
A carbene cascade reaction that constructs functionalized bridged bicyclic systems from alkynyl diazoesters is presented. The cascade proceeds through diazo decomposition, carbene/alkyne metathesis, and C-H bond insertion. The diazoesters are easily synthesized from cyclic ketones. Substrate ring size and substitution patterns control the connectivity and diastereomeric preference found in the products.

Abstract
One of the most frequent modifications in proteins and peptides is the deamidation of asparagine, a spontaneous non-enzymatic reaction leading to a mixture of L,D-succinimidyl, L,D-aspartyl, and L,D-isoaspartyl forms, with L-isoaspartyl dominating. Spontaneous isomerization of L-Asp yields the same products. In vivo, these unusual forms of aspartate are repaired by the protein L-isoaspartyl O-methyltransferase enzyme, with the balance between isomerization and repair affecting the organism physiology. Mass spectrometric analysis of this balance involves isomer separation, iso-Asp/Asp quantification, and iso-Asp site identification. This review highlights the issues associated with these steps and discusses the prospects of high-throughput iso-Asp analysis.

Abstract
Rh(II)-catalyzed cyclopropenations of ynamides are described. Although an actual amido-cyclopropene intermediate may not be involved, these reactions provide a facile entry to highly substituted 2-amido-furans, thereby formerly constituting a [3 + 2] cycloaddition. An application of these de novo 2-amido-furans in N-tethered intramolecular [4 + 2] cycloadditions is also illustrated, leading to dihydroindoles and tetrahydroquinolines.
