Abstract
AbstractNature-inspired optimization techniques have been applied in various fields of study to solve optimization problems. Since designing a Fuzzy System (FS) can be considered one of the most complex optimization problems, many meta-heuristic optimizations have been developed to design FS structures. This paper aims to design a Takagi–Sugeno–Kang fuzzy Systems (TSK-FS) structure by generating the required fuzzy rules and selecting the most influential parameters for these rules. In this context, a new hybrid nature-inspired algorithm is proposed, namely Genetic–Grey Wolf Optimization (GGWO) algorithm, to optimize TSK-FSs. In GGWO, a hybridization of the genetic algorithm (GA) and the grey wolf optimizer (GWO) is applied to overcome the premature convergence and poor solution exploitation of the standard GWO. Using genetic crossover and mutation operators accelerates the exploration process and efficiently reaches the best solution (rule generation) within a reasonable time. The proposed GGWO is tested on several benchmark functions compared with other nature-inspired optimization algorithms. The result of simulations applied to the fuzzy control of nonlinear plants shows the superiority of GGWO in designing TSK-FSs with high accuracy compared with different optimization algorithms in terms of Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and computational time.

Abstract
In this paper a second-order data-driven Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) is merged with a proportional-derivative Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy (PDTSF) logic controller, resulting in two new control structures referred to as second-order data-driven Active Disturbance Rejection Control combined with Proportional-Derivative Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Control (ADRC–PDTSFC). The data-driven ADRC–PDTSFC structure was compared with a data-driven ADRC structure and the control system structures were validated by real-time experiments on a nonlinear Multi Input-Multi Output tower crane system (TCS) laboratory equipment, where the cart position and the arm angular position of TCS were controlled using two Single Input-Single Output control system structures running in parallel. The parameters of the data-driven algorithms were tuned in a model-based way using a metaheuristic algorithm in order to improve the efficiency of energy consumption.

Abstract
Rockfill dams are among the most complex, significant, and costly infrastructure projects of great national importance. A key issue in their design is the construction stage and zone optimization. However, a detailed flow shop construction scheme that considers the opinions of decision makers cannot be obtained using the current rock-fill dam construction stage and zone optimization methods, and the robustness and efficiency of existing construction stage and zone optimization approaches are not sufficient. This research presents a construction stage and zone optimization model based on a data-driven analytical hierarchy process extended by D numbers (D-AHP) and an enhanced whale optimization algorithm (EWOA). The flow shop construction scheme is optimized by presenting an automatic flow shop construction scheme multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method, which integrates the data-driven D-AHP with an improved construction simulation of a high rockfill dam (CSHRD). The EWOA, which uses Levy flight to improve the robustness and efficiency of the whale optimization algorithm (WOA), is adopted for optimization. This proposed model is implemented to optimize the construction stages and zones while obtaining a preferable flow shop construction scheme. The effectiveness and advantages of the model are proven by an example of a large-scale rockfill dam.

Abstract
The goal of this investigation is to construct a computational procedure for identifying the modal parameters of linear mechanical systems. The methodology employed in the paper is based on the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm implemented in conjunction with the Observer/Kalman Filter Identification method (ERA/OKID). This method represents an effective and efficient system identification numerical procedure based on the time domain. The algorithm developed in this work is tested by means of numerical experiments on a full-car vehicle model. To this end, the modal parameters necessary for the design of active and semi-active suspension systems are obtained for the vehicle system considered as an illustrative example. In order to analyze the performance of the methodology developed in this investigation, the system identification numerical procedure was tested considering two case studies, namely a full state measurement and an incomplete state measurement. As expected, the numerical results found for the identified dynamical model showed a good agreement with the modal parameters of the mechanical system model. Furthermore, numerical results demonstrated that the proposed method has good performance considering a scenario in which the signal-to-noise ratio of the input and output measurements is relatively high. The method developed in this paper can be effectively used for solving important engineering problems such as the design of control systems for road vehicles.
