Abstract
Bisphenol S (BPS) is widely used in plastic products, food packaging, electronic products, and other applications. In recent years, BPS emissions have increasingly impacted aquatic ecosystems. The effects of BPS exposure on aquatic animal health have been documented; however, our understanding of its toxicology remains limited. This study aimed to explore the mechanisms of lipid metabolism disorders, oxidative stress, and autophagy dysfunction induced in freshwater crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) by exposure to different concentrations of BPS (0 µg/L, 1 µg/L, 10 µg/L, and 100 µg/L) over 14 d. The results indicated that BPS exposure led to oxidative stress by inducing elevated levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibiting the activity of antioxidant-related enzymes. Additionally, BPS exposure led to increased lipid content in the serum and hepatopancreas, which was associated with elevated lipid-related enzyme activity and increased expression of related genes. Furthermore, BPS exposure decreased levels of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylinositol (PI), disrupted glycerophospholipid (GPI) metabolism, and caused lipid deposition in the hepatopancreatic. These phenomena may have occurred because BPS exposure reduced the transport of fatty acids and led to hepatopancreatic lipid deposition by inhibiting the transport and synthesis of PC and PI in the hepatopancreas, thereby inhibiting the PI3K-AMPK pathway. In conclusion, BPS exposure induced oxidative stress, promoted lipid accumulation, and led to autophagy dysfunction in the hepatopancreas of freshwater crayfish. Collectively, our findings provide the first evidence that environmentally relevant levels of BPS exposure can induce hepatopancreatic lipid deposition through multiple pathways, raising concerns about the potential population-level harm of BPS and other bisphenol analogues.

Abstract
A large amount of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is produced in the process of chicken breeding, which can cause serious inflammation and oxidative damage to the respiratory system of chickens. Tea tree oil (TTO) has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. No studies have been reported on the use of TTO in H2S-induced lung injury in chickens. Therefore, in this study, 240 one-day-old Roman pink laying hens were randomly and equally divided into 3 groups: control group (CON), H2S exposure group (AVG, containing H2S), and TTO treatment group (TTG, containing H2S and 0.02 mL/L TTO) to establish an experimental model of TTO treatment with H2S exposure for a period of 42 d. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining was used to detect lung histopathology. Gene expression profiles were analyzed using transcriptomics. The underlying mechanism of the amelioration of lung injury by TTO was further revealed by antioxidant enzyme assays and qRT-PCR. The results showed that H2S exposure induced significant gene expression of CYP450s (CYP1B1 and CYP1C1) (P < 0.05), and caused intense oxidative stress, apoptosis and inflammation compared with CON. TTO could reduce ROS production and enhance antioxidant capacity (SOD, CAT, T-AOC, and GSH-PX) by regulating the CYP450s/ROS pathway (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed significantly decreased expression of apoptotic (Caspase-8, Caspase-3, Bid and Fas) (P < 0.05) and inflammatory (IL-4, IL-16, NF-κB, TNF-α and IFN-γ) (P < 0.05) factors in the lung. This study revealed that TTO regulated CYP450s/ROS pathway to alleviate H2S-induced lung injury in chickens. These results enrich the theory of the action mechanism of TTO on H2S-exposed chicken lungs and are of great value for the treatment of H2S-exposed animals.

Abstract
Tea tree oil (TTO) is an essential plant oil with diverse antibacterial and antioxidant properties; however, whether the role played by TTO in low fish meal (LF) diets induced the observed effects in the farmed crustaceans remains unclear. Therefore, this study used Macrobrachium rosenbergii as the model crustacean, and an 8-week feeding experiment with NF (normal fish meal), LF (soybean meal replacing 40% fish meal), and LFT (LF with 200 mg/kg TTO) diets was conducted to evaluate the positive effects of TTO under the LF diet. Compared to the NF diet, the LF diet reduced hemolymph antioxidant capacity and non-specific immunity, and induced hepatopancreas apoptosis and damage. However, in comparison with LF, LTF significantly ameliorated morphological impairment in the hepatopancreas, improved hepatopancreas energy metabolism by upregulating the Bcl-2/Bax and Akt/mTOR pathways, and enhanced antioxidant and non-specific immune capacity by activating the NF-κB/NO pathway. In addition, LFT repaired intestinal barrier injury and the imbalance of intestinal microbiota induced by the LF diet. Moreover, the Pearson correlation revealed the variations of the above indicators, which were related to the abundance changes of Klebsiella, Clostridium sensu stricto 12, Thermobifida, Bifidobacterium, and Alistipes, indicating that these microbes might serve as prospective targets for the intestine-hepatopancreas axis to affect hepatopancreas apoptosis, metabolism, and non-specific immunity. In summary, 200 mg/kg TTO supplementation mediated gut microbiota and positively improved energy metabolism and non-specific immunity, thereby alleviating hepatopancreas dysplasia and damage induced by the LF diet in M. rosenbergii.
