Abstract
TMEM182, a transmembrane protein highly expressed in muscle and adipose tissues, plays a crucial role in muscle cell differentiation, metabolism, and signaling. However, its role in fat deposition and metabolism is still unknown. In this study, we used overexpression and knockout models to examine the impact of TMEM182 on fat synthesis and metabolism. Our results showed that TMEM182 overexpression increased the expression of fat synthesis-related genes and promoted the differentiation of preadipocytes into fat cells. In TMEM182 knockout mice, there was a significant decrease in abdominal fat deposition. RNA sequencing results showed that TMEM182 overexpression in preadipocytes enhanced the activity of pathways related to fat formation, ECM-receptor interaction, and cell adhesion. Furthermore, our analysis using UPLC-MS/MS showed that TMEM182 significantly altered the metabolite and lipid content and composition in chicken breast muscle. Specifically, TMEM182 increased the content of amino acids and their derivatives in chicken breast muscle, promoting amino acid metabolic pathways. Lipidomics also revealed a significant increase in the content of glycerophospholipids, sphingolipids, and phospholipids in the breast muscle after TMEM182 overexpression. These findings suggest that TMEM182 plays a crucial role in regulating fat deposition and metabolism, making it a potential target for treating obesity-related diseases and animal breeding.

Abstract
Over the last several decades, China has continuously introduced Duroc boars and used them as breeding boars. Although this crossbreeding method has increased pork production, it has affected pork quality. Nowadays, one of the primary goals of industrial breeding and production systems is to enhance the quality of meat. This research analyzed the molecular mechanisms that control the quality of pork and may be used as a guide for future efforts to enhance meat quality. The genetic mechanisms of cross-breeding for meat quality improvement were investigated by combining transcriptome and metabolome analysis, using Chinese native Jiaxing black (JXB) pigs and crossbred Duroc × Duroc × Berkshire × JXB (DDBJ) pigs. In the longissimus Dorsi muscle, the content of inosine monophosphate, polyunsaturated fatty acid, and amino acids were considerably higher in JXB pigs in contrast with that of DDBJ pigs, whereas DDBJ pigs have remarkably greater levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids than JXB pigs. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differential metabolites were identified using transcriptomic and metabolomic KEGG enrichment analyses. Differential metabolites mainly include amino acids, fatty acids, and phospholipids. In addition, several DEGs that may explain differences in meat quality between the two pig types were found, including genes associated with the metabolism of lipids (e.g., DGKA, LIPG, and LPINI), fatty acid (e.g., ELOVL5, ELOVL4, and ACAT2), and amino acid (e.g., SLC7A2, SLC7A4). Combined with the DEGS-enriched signaling pathways, the regulatory mechanisms related to amino acids, fatty acids, and phospholipids were mapped. The abundant metabolic pathways and DEGs may provide insight into the specific molecular mechanism that regulates meat quality. Optimizing the composition of fatty acids, phospholipids, amino acids, and other compounds in pork is conducive to improving meat quality. Overall, these findings will provide useful information and further groundwork for enhancing the meat quality that may be achieved via hybrid breeding.

Abstract
Intramuscular fat (IMF) is the main determinant of the economic value of domestic animal meat, and has a vital impact on the sensory quality characteristics, while the content of IMF is mainly determined by the size and number of intramuscular adipocytes. In recent years, due to the development of sequencing technology and omics technology, a large number of non-coding RNAs have been identified in intramuscular adipocytes. Non-coding RNAs are a kind of RNA regulatory factors with biological functions but without translation function, which mainly include microRNAs (miRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs). These non-coding RNAs regulate the key genes of intramuscular adipocyte growth and development at post-transcriptional level through a variety of regulatory mechanisms, and affect the number and size of intramuscular adipocytes, thus affecting the content of IMF. Here, the review summarizes the candidate non-coding RNAs (miRNAs, lncRNAs, circRNAs) and genes involved in the regulation of intramuscular adipocytes, the related regulation mechanism and signaling pathways, in order to provide reference for further clarifying the molecular regulation mechanism of non-coding RNAs on intramuscular adipocytes in domestic animals.

Abstract
The preadipocytes differentiation is a vital process of lipogenesis; exploring the molecular mechanisms of lipogenesis contributes to improve the meat quality and final commercial income. Lipogenesis has been widely reported in other livestock, but little is known about the gene expression profiles at different stages during preadipocytes differentiation in sheep. In this study, ovine preadipocytes were cultured in vitro and then induced to begin differentiation. Then, the gene expression profiles of preadipocytes collected on day 0 (D0), day 2 (D2), and day 8 (D8) of differentiation were analyzed by RNA-seq technology. According to the findings, 2254 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were found in D2 vs D0; 1817 DEGs and 1902 DEGs were found in D8 vs D0 and D8 vs D2, respectively. The DEGs were found to be enriched in several biological processes, including focal adhesion, ECM-receptor interaction, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, steroid biosynthesis, and MAPK signaling pathway, according to Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis. The regulatory network of the DEGs related to ovine preadipocytes differentiation was systematically constructed, which showed that hub genes might modulate ovine preadipocytes differentiation. In summary, preadipocyte differentiation is regulated by several key genes, including ACACB, CXCL6, SREBF1, INSIG1, APOE, GJA1, CDH11, SYNE1, PCSK1, S100A4, FN1, PLIN2, CXCL6, FN1, PTX3, and FABP3. This study provides a deeper knowledge of the roles of genes in sheep lipogenesis by revealing global gene expression profiles during preadipocyte differentiation.

Abstract
Global food systems are under significant pressure to provide enough food, particularly protein-rich foods whose demand is on the rise in times of crisis and inflation, as presently existing due to post-COVID-19 pandemic effects and ongoing conflict in Ukraine and resulting in looming food insecurity, according to FAO. Cultivated meat (CM) and cultivated seafood (CS) are protein-rich alternatives for traditional meat and fish that are obtained via cellular agriculture (CA) i.e., tissue engineering for food applications. Stem and progenitor cells are the building blocks and starting point for any CA bioprocess. This review presents CA-relevant vertebrate cell types and procedures needed for their myogenic and adipogenic differentiation since muscle and fat tissue are the primary target tissues for CM/CS production. The review also describes existing challenges, such as a need for immortalized cell lines, or physical and biochemical parameters needed for enhanced meat/fat culture efficiency and ways to address them.
