Abstract
Some of these include basal cell carcinoma (BCCs), squamous cell carcinoma (SCCs), and melanoma; skin cancer is a leading global health problem due to its high prevalence and possibly due to its serious health implications. Conventional and known therapies like surgeries, radiation therapies and chemotherapy although helpful are sometime deleterious and do not specifically attack the cancers. New advancement is half-breed technique has recently been recognized that photodynamic therapy (PDT) can be considered as a potentially effective modality by using photosensitizers which work through the generation of localized ROS on exposure to light. This review analyzes the recent progress in PDT and evaluation of its effectiveness in the cure of skin malignancies: with the emphasis on its applicability to BCCs and SCCs, as well as the limitations concerning the cure of melanomas. This review gives an insight to how PDT works and how it can be combined with other forms of therapy, and the prospects of photosensitizer carriers with special reference to nanotechnology. Also, the optimization of the parameters associated with the use of PDT is explored in an attempt to improve on its safety and efficacy in treatment. As such, the purpose of this systematic review of the literature is to advance the knowledge of PDT usage in contemporary dermatologic oncology and to contribute to the eventual expansion of this therapy into other skin diseases and potential use as a first-line treatment for skin neoplasia.

Abstract
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) arising within scar tissue is a rare but clinically significant phenomenon. This comprehensive review aims to provide a succinct overview of the current state of knowledge regarding the etiological factors, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, and management of BCC. This study constitutes a literature review pertaining to BCC, with a particular emphasis on BCC developing within scar tissue. It also provides a clinical case presentation of a patient who had developed BCC in a BCG post-vaccination scar and a review of analogous findings available in the existing literature. Despite the fact that an array of mechanisms play a role in injury-related BCC growth, the main mechanism remains ambiguous and yet to be elucidated. The review also includes a detailed description of the various therapeutic options available for BCC, ranging from surgical interventions to novel pharmacological treatments. By examining these intersections, the review seeks to elucidate the potential mechanisms, identify risk factors, and suggest considerations for clinical practice. The findings underscore the importance of vigilant dermatological assessment in patients with scar tissue and those recently vaccinated, aiming to improve early detection and optimize management strategies for BCC.

Abstract
Skin carcinoma remains one of the most widespread forms of cancer, and its global impact continues to increase. Basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, and squamous cell carcinoma are three kinds of cutaneous carcinomas depending upon occurrence and severity. The invasive nature of skin cancer, the limited effectiveness of current therapy techniques, and constraints to efficient systems for drug delivery are difficulties linked with the treatment of skin carcinoma. In the present era, the delivery of drugs has found a new and exciting horizon in the realm of nanotechnology, which presents inventive solutions to the problems posed by traditional therapeutic procedures for skin cancer management. Lipid-based nanocarriers like solid lipid nanoparticles and nanostructured lipid carriers have attracted a substantial focus in recent years owing to their capability to improve the drug's site-specific delivery, enhancing systemic availability, and thus its effectiveness. Due to their distinct structural and functional characteristics, these nanocarriers can deliver a range of medications, such as peptides, nucleic acids, and chemotherapeutics, via different biological barriers, such as the skin. In this review, an effort was made to present the mechanism of lipid nanocarrier permeation via cancerous skin. In addition, recent research advances in lipid nanocarriers have also been discussed with the help of in vitro cell lines and preclinical studies. Being a nano size, their limitations and toxicity aspects in living systems have also been elaborated.

Abstract
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) represents the most prevalent cancer globally. The past decade has witnessed significant advancements in BCC treatment, primarily through bibliometric studies. Aiming to perform a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of BCC treatments to comprehend the research landscape and identify trends within this domain, a dataset comprising 100 scientific publications from the Web of Science Core Collection was analyzed. Country co-operation, journal co-citation, theme bursts, keyword co-occurrence, author co-operation, literature co-citation, and field-specific references were examined using VOSviewer and CiteSpace visualization tools. These articles, published between 2013 and 2020, originated predominantly from 30 countries/regions and 159 institutions, with the USA and Germany at the forefront, involving a total of 1118 authors. The keyword analysis revealed significant emphasis on the hedgehog pathway, Mohs micrographic surgery, and photodynamic therapy. The research shows developed nations are at the forefront in advancing BCC therapies, with significant focus on drugs targeting the hedgehog pathway. This treatment avenue has emerged as a crucial area, meriting considerable attention in BCC therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
The management of periocular basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is challenging due to its proximity to the eyeball. Vismodegib, a Hedgehog pathway inhibitor, has emerged as a therapeutic option for locally advanced and metastatic BCC. To critically appraise the relevant evidence, we conducted a systematic review of observational and experimental studies assessing the efficacy and safety of vismodegib for periocular BCC. Thirty-seven trials, including 435 patients, were eligible. No randomized trials were retrieved. Complete and overall clinical response rates were 20-88 % and 68-100 %, respectively. Disease progression was observed at a maximum rate of 14 %. Recurrence rates varied between 0 % and 31 %. The most common side effects were muscle cramps, dysgeusia, weight loss and alopecia. Treatment with vismodegib improved health-related quality of life. In conclusion, vismodegib represents an important novel treatment for advanced periocular BCC, with good response rates and acceptable tolerability profile. Nevertheless, its full potential needs clarification through randomized controlled trials.

Abstract
Medicinal plants have been commonly associated with chemotherapeutic treatments, as an approach to reduce the toxicological risks of classical anticancer drugs. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of combining the antineoplastic drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) with Matricaria recutita flowers extract (MRFE) to treat mice transplanted with sarcoma 180. Tumor inhibition, body and visceral mass variation, biochemical, hematological, and histopathological parameters were evaluated. The isolated 5-FU, 5-FU+MRFE 100 mg/kg/day, and 5-FU+MRFE 200 mg/kg/day reduced tumor growth; however, 5-FU+MRFE 200 mg/kg/day showed a more significant tumor reduction when compared to 5-FU alone. These results corroborated with the analysis of the tumor histopathological and immunodetection of the Ki67 antigen. In the toxicological analysis of the association 5-FU+MRFE 200 mg/kg/day, an intense loss of body mass was observed, possibly as a result of diarrhea. In addition, spleen atrophy, with a reduction in white pulp, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, was observed in the 5-FU groups alone and associated with MRFE 200 mg/kg/day; however, there was no statistical difference between these groups. Therefore, the MRFE 200 mg/kg/day did not interfere in myelosuppressive action of 5-FU. In hematological analysis, body and visceral mass variation and biochemical parameters related to renal (urea and creatinine) and cardiac (CK-MB) function, no alteration was observed. In biochemical parameters related to liver function enzymes, there was a reduction in aspartate transaminase (AST) values in the 5-FU groups alone and associated with MRFE 200 mg/kg/day; however, there was no statistical difference between these groups. Therefore, the MRFE 200 mg/kg/day does not appear to influence enzyme reduction. The results of this study suggest that the association between the 5-FU+MRFE 200 can positively interfere with the antitumor activity, promoting the antineoplastic-induced reduction in body mass, while minimizing the toxicity of chemotherapy.
