Abstract
Analgesics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as paracetamol, diclofenac, and ibuprofen are frequently encountered in surface and ground water, thereby posing a significant risk to aquatic ecosystems. Our study reports the catalytic performances of nanosystems TiO2-MexOy (Me = Ce, Sn) prepared by the sol-gel method and deposited onto glass slides by a dip-coating approach in the removal of paracetamol from aqueous solutions by catalytic ozonation. The effect of catalyst type and operation parameters on oxidation efficiency was assessed. In addition to improving this process, the present work simplifies it by avoiding the difficult step of catalyst separation. It was found that the thin films were capable of removing all pollutants from target compounds to the oxidation products.

Abstract
In this study, activated carbon (AC) from coconut shell, as a widely available agricultural waste, was synthesised in a simple one-step procedure and used to produce a magnetic Fe3O4/AC/TiO2 nano-catalyst for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under UV light. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that TiO2 nanoparticles, with an average particle size of 45 to 62 nm, covered the surface of the AC porous structure without a reunion of its structure, which according to the TGA results enhanced the stability of the photocatalyst at high temperatures. The photocatalytic activities of synthesised AC, commercial TiO2, Fe3O4/AC, and Fe3O4/AC/TiO2 were compared, with Fe3O4/AC/TiO2 (1:2) exhibiting the highest catalytic activity (98%). Furthermore, evaluation of the recovery and reusability of the photocatalysts after treatment revealed that seven treatment cycles were possible without a significant reduction in the removal efficiency.

Abstract
Ag/ZnO nanocomposites were synthesized and applied in the photocatalytic ozonation of phenol. Their crystal, textural, morphological, optical, and electrochemical properties were investigated by XRD, Raman, SEM, TEM, UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS), and photoluminescence (PL) techniques in detail. The results indicated that silver nanoparticles were well dispersed on the surface of porous ZnO and the intimate contacts were formed at the Ag/ZnO interfaces. This prominently favored the separation and transfer of photoinduced electrons from ZnO to Ag nanoparticles for the activation of ozone to produce •OH and •O2−. As a result, a significant enhancement in photocatalytic ozonation of phenol was achieved over Ag/ZnO catalysts. It also showed a synergistic effect between photocatalysis and ozonation.
