Abstract
Sol-gel spin coating method was employed for depositing TiO2 and Ag-doped TiO2 films. The effects of Ag doping and the annealing temperatures (300-600 °C) were studied with respect to their structural, morphological, vibrational, and optical properties. Field Emission Scanning Electron microscopy (FESEM) investigation exhibited the grained, compact structures of TiO2-based films. Ag incorporation resulted in a rougher film surface. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results confirmed the formation of Ag nanoparticles and AgO phase, along with anatase and rutile TiO2, strongly depending on Ag concentration and technological conditions. AgO fraction diminished after high temperature annealing above 500 °C. The vibrational properties were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. It was found that silver presence induced changes in IR bands of TiO2 films. UV-VIS spectroscopy revealed that the embedment of Ag NPs in titania matrix resulted in higher absorbance across the visible spectral range due to local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). Ag doping reduced the optical band gap of sol-gel TiO2 films. The optical and plasmonic modifications of TiO2:Ag thin films by the number of layers and different technological conditions (thermal and UV treatment) are discussed.

Abstract
This study focuses on comparing the efficiency of commercially available TiO2 (P25) with synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles (TiO2NP) impregnated in nonmodified cellulose membranes, specifically targeting the degradation of Indigo Carmine (IC) dye. We developed a novel method to enhance the interaction between cellulose and TiO2, thereby improving efficiency and reusability. This involves dissolving microcrystalline cellulose in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (BMImCl) and dispersing the TiO2 samples within this solution. The resulting cellulose membrane embedded with TiO2 nanoparticles (TiO2NP) exhibited a higher adsorption capacity and greater photocatalytic efficiency against IC compared to that of P25. This improvement is attributed to the larger surface area and increased reactivity of the synthesized TiO2NPs. Furthermore, the CEL_TiO2NP membranes demonstrated excellent stability and reusability, maintaining their catalytic efficiency over multiple cycles. This study presents new opportunities for developing efficient, reusable photocatalytic materials for environmental remediation using eco-friendly cellulose.

Abstract
A sol-gel synthesis technique was employed for the preparation of anatase phase {001}-TiO2/Au hybrid nanocomposites (NCs). The scalable, schematic, and cost-efficient method was successfully modified using HF and NH4OH capping agents. The photocatalytic activity of the as-synthesized {001}-TiO2/Au NCs were tested over 2-cycle degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye and pharmaceutical active compounds (PhACs) of ibuprofen and naproxen under direct sunlight illumination at 35 °C and 44,000 lx. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), fast Fourier transform (FFT), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS) were employed for the characterization of the as-prepared sample. The characterization results from the TEM, XPS, and XRD studies established both the distribution of Au colloids on the surface of TiO2 material, and the presence of the highly crystalline structure of anatase {001}-TiO2/Au NCs. Photodegradation results from the visible light irradiation of MB indicate an enhanced photocatalytic performance of Au/TiO2 NCs over TiO2. The results from the photocatalytic activity test performed under direct sunlight exposure exhibited promising photodegradation efficiencies. In the first cycle, the sol-gel synthesized material exhibited relatively better efficiencies (91%) with the MB dye and ibuprofen, while the highest degradation efficiency for the second cycle was 79% for the MB dye. Pseudo first-order photodegradation rates from the first cycle were determined to be comparatively slower than those from the second degradation cycle.

Abstract
The excellent strategy to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic is to inhibit the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2. Since fomites are one of the vital routes of coronaviral transmission, disinfecting of fomites play a pivotal role in curbing its survival on the contaminated surfaces. Available commercial disinfectants cannot keep the contaminated surfaces sanitized all the time. Self-disinfecting ability of Ag-enriched TiO2 nanocoating due to its superb photocatalytic efficiency can effectively reduce infections caused by spread of pathogens at public places. Anatase Ag-TiO2 nanocoatings synthesized by sol-gel process at 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5% enriching concentrations were casted on glass substrates by spin-coating technique and subsequently annealed at 650 °C. The morphological shape, crystallographic structure, light absorbance, photo-luminosity, vibrational modes, and functional groups of Ag-TiO2 nanocoating on glass surface were studied by FE-SEM, GIXRD, UV-Visible, Photoluminescence, Raman, and FTIR spectroscopy. The developed anatase Ag-TiO2 nanocoatings manifested to improve photocatalytic disinfecting performance due to the achieved small crystallite size of 10.5-19.2 nm, diminished band gap energy of 2.56-2.60 eV, elevated surface area of 0.802-1.470 ×105 cm2/g, and enhanced light absorbance. Among the enriched specimens, 0.5% Ag-TiO2 nanocoatings predicted an overall exalted functionality compared to pristine one.

Abstract
Nanostructured noble metal-semiconductor materials have been attracting increasing attention because of their broad application in the field of environmental remediation, sensing and photocatalysis. In this study, a facile approach for fabricating silver@mesoporousanataseTiO2 (Ag@mTiO2) core-shell nanoparticles employing sol-gel and hydrothermal reaction is demonstrated. The Ag@mTiO2nanoparticles display excellent surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensitivity and they can detect the methylene blue (MB) molecules with the concentration of as low as 10−8 M. They also exhibit outstanding photocatalytic activity compared with mTiO2, due to the efficient separation and recombination restrain of electron–hole pairs under ultraviolet light. The Ag@mTiO2nanoparticles also present good stability and they can achieve recyclable photocatalytic degradation experiments for five times without loss of activity. Subsequently, the nanoparticles with dual functions were successfully used to in situ monitor the photodegradation process of MB aqueous solution. These results, demonstrating the multifunctional Ag@mTiO2 nanoparticles, hold promising applications for simultaneous SERS analysis and the removal of dye pollutants in environmental field.

Abstract
The anatase type cluster TiO2-{001/101} was rapidly generated by a one-step hydrothermal method. The transformation process of coral-like TiOF2 nanoparticles to cluster TiO2-{001/101} was investigated for the first time, and the sensitization between cluster TiO2-{001/101} and tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) was also discussed. The degradation rate of TCH by cluster TiO2-{001/101} under simulated sunlight was 92.3%, and the total removal rate was 1.76 times that of P25. Besides, cluster TiO2-{001/101} settles more easily than P25 in deionized water. The study showed that cluster TiO2-{001/101} derived from coral-like TiOF2 nanoparticles had a strong adsorption effect on TCH, which was attributed to the oxygen vacancy (Ov) and {001} facets of cluster TiO2-{001/101}. The strong adsorption effect promoted the sensitization between cluster TiO2-{001/101} and TCH, and widened the visible light absorption range of cluster TiO2-{001/101}. In addition, the fluorescence emission spectrum showed that cluster TiO2-{001/101} had a lower luminous intensity, which was attributed to the heterojunction formed by {001} facets and {101} facets that reduces the recombination rate of carriers. It should be noted that cluster TiO2-{001/101} still has good degradation performance for TCH after five cycles of degradation. This study provides a new idea for the synthesis of cluster TiO2-{001/101} with high photocatalytic performance for the treatment of TCH wastewater.
