Abstract
Biobased polylactide (PLA) films were modified with low reticulate polysiloxane gel acting as a scalable platform for the hydrophilization of polymeric film surface. The PLA thin film was first coated with poly(methylhydrogenosiloxane) (PMHS) by the sol-gel transition via the condensation of diethoxymethylsilane (DH) and triethoxysilane (TH) using trifluoromethanesulfonic acid as a catalyst. Then, hydrosilylation of Si-H bonds in the presence of Karstedt's catalyst allowed the covalent grafting of hydrophilic alkene-containing molecules, i.e., triethylene glycol monomethyl allyl (TEGMEA) and a new zwitterionic allylcarboxybetaine (ACB) synthesized for the first time by the quaternization of dimethyl allyl amine (DMAA) with β-propiolactone. PMHS coating on the PLA film was evidenced by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The observation by atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed a homogeneous coating with low roughness (RMS = 0.29 nm). The hydrophilicity of functionalized PLA films was determined by water contact angle (WCA) measurements using the captive bubble method. A large increase in wettability properties was observed for both grafting with TEGMEA (WCA = 38°) and ACB (WCA = 42°) in comparison with the native PLA film (WCA = 80°). Moreover, the biocompatibility and antifouling efficiency of functionalized PLA films were evaluated by protein adsorption, bacterial adhesion, and cytotoxicity tests. The results indicate that the grafting of the two types of hydrophilic compounds does not affect the biocompatibility of PLA while significantly reducing protein adsorption and bacterial adhesion, thus showing the great potential of this surface functionalization strategy for applications in the medical field.

Abstract
PI/SiO2 composite films have been prepared by using in situ polymerization. The influences of the dosage of silane coupling agent (KH-560) on the structure and performance of PI/SiO2 composite film have been investigated. The results show that in the components without KH-560, the addition of SiO2 decreases the transmittance of the sample. Compared to the same SiO2 doping amount, the transmittance in the visible light range of the sample using KH-560 is higher than that of the sample without KH-560. After adding KH-560, the tensile strength, the elastic modulus the elongation at break of the sample have largely changed. The thermal stability and the ability to resist ultraviolet radiation of the composite film first increases and then decreases. Furthermore, the optimal dosage of KH-560 is 3%. Moreover, the addition of KH-560 has little effect on the transmittance of the PI/SiO2 composite films before and after UV irradiation.

Preparation and Characterization of Some Sol-Gel Modified Silica Coatings Deposited on Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Substrates. COATINGS 2020. Abstract
Transparent and antireflective coatings were prepared by deposition of modified silica materials onto polyvinyl chloride (PVC) substrates. These materials were obtained by the sol-gel route in acidic medium, at room temperature (25 °C), using different alkoxysilanes with various functional groups (methyl, vinyl, octyl or hexadecyl). Physicochemical and microstructural properties of resulted silica materials and of thin coatings were investigated through Fourier Transforms Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-Vis spectroscopy, Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and ellipsometric measurements. Wetting behaviors of the silica coatings were evaluated by measurement of static contact angle against water. FTIR spectra of materials confirmed the high degree of cross-linking that result from the formation of the inorganic backbone through the hydrolysis and polycondensation reactions together with the formation of the organic network. These sol-gel silica coatings showed a reduction in the reflectance (10%) compared with uncoated PVC substrate. AFM reveals that the films are uniform, and adherent to the substrate, but their morphology is strongly influenced by the chemical composition of the coating matrices. These silica coatings can be useful for potential electronic and optical devices.

Low-Temperature Preparation of SiO2/Nb2O5/TiO2–SiO2 Broadband Antireflective Coating for the Visible via Acid-Catalyzed Sol–Gel Method. COATINGS 2020. Abstract
Multilayer broadband antireflective (AR) coatings consisting of porous layers usually suffers poor functional durability. Based on a quarter-half-quarter multilayer structure, AR coatings with dense SiO2 film as the top layer are designed, and refractive index for each layer is optimized. After heat-treated at only 150 °C, refractive index of Nb2O5 film reaches to 2.072 (at 550 nm), which can meet design requirements of the middle layer. TiO2–SiO2 composites with controllable refractive indices are selected to be used as the bottom layer. The obtained triple-layer AR coating presents excellent performance, and the average transmittance at 400–800 nm attains 98.41%. Dense layers endow the multilayer structure good abrasion-resistance, and hexamethyldisilazane is further used to modify the surface of the AR coating, which can greatly improve the hydrophobicity of the coating. The proposed triple-layer broadband AR coating has potential value in practical applications of sol–gel deposition.

Abstract
Highly hydrophobic cotton fabrics were obtained with poly(methylhydrogen)siloxane (PMHS) and a further fluorinated olefin modification. The chemical structures and microstructures of PMHS-modified cotton fabrics were characterized, and application of the resultant cotton fabrics in stain resistance and oil–water separation was demonstrated. PMHS chains with very low surface energy were grafted onto cotton fabric by the dehydrogenation reaction between –Si–H of PMHS and –OH groups of cotton fabric at room temperature. The water contact angle of PMHS-modified cotton fabric was 141.7°, which provided the modified cotton fabric with good stain resistance to waterborne pollutants. The separation efficiency of diesel from water was higher than 92% for 20 repeatable separation cycles. A further improvement in stain resistance to oil was also demonstrated by a further addition reaction of 1H,1H,2H-perfluoro-1-decene with PMHS-modified cotton fabric.
