Abstract
The development of luminescent coordination polymers for the selective sensing of Pb2+ in water constitutes an active area of research that impacts analytical, environmental, and inorganic chemistry. Herein, two novel water-stable 2D Zn-coordination polymers {[Zn2(H2O)2(tdc)2(bpy)]·(H2O)}n 1 and [Zn(tdc)(tmb)]n 2 (tdc = thiophenedicarboxylate; bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine and tmb = 4,4'-trimethylenebipyridine) were synthesized, structurally determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction, and studied in-depth as luminescent sensors for a series of cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ Cd2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+) in 20% aqueous ethanol. These Zn-polymers possess photostability in 20% aqueous ethanol with a strong emission at 410 upon excitation at 330 nm and quantum yields of around Φ = 0.09. Under these conditions, Pb+2 can be efficiently sensed with polymer 2 through a fluorescent ratiometric response with selectivity over common interfering metal ions such as Cu2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ in the micromolar concentration range (detection limit = 1.78 ± 10 μM). Such selectivity/affinity of Pb2+ over Hg2+ for luminescent chemosensors is still rare. On the basis of spectroscopic tools (1H NMR, far ATR-IR, PXRD), the X-ray crystal structure of 2, and Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopic analysis, the ratiometric fluorescent response is proposed via an efficient metal-ion exchange driven through interactions between thiophenedicarboxylate rings and Pb2+ ions. The use of flexible luminescent Zn-coordination polymers as sensors for selective and direct detection of Pb2+ in aqueous media has been unexplored until now.

Abstract
A series of Ba-MII complexes with allylmalonic acid anions [BaMII(Amal)2(H2O)3]n (MII = Mn, Co, Cu, and Zn) were synthesized. The magnetic measurements revealed slow magnetic relaxation in non-zero field (HDC = 1500 Oe) for CoII ions.

Abstract
Abstract
Three new metal−organic frameworks based on scandium(III) cations and 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid (H2Tdc) are synthesized: [Sc(Tdc)(OH)]·1.2DMF (I), [Sc(Tdc)(OH)]·2/3DMF (II), and (Me2NH2)[Sc3(Tdc)4(OH)2]·DMF (III) (DMF is N,N-dimethylformamide). The structures of the compounds are determined by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis (CIF file CCDC nos. 2067819 (I), 2067820 (II), and 2067821 (III)). The chemical and phase purity of compound I is proved by elemental analysis, thermogravimetry, X-ray diffraction analysis, and IR spectroscopy.

Abstract
A new metal–organic coordination polymer [Zn2(sedc)2(dabco)] (1se; sedc2− = selepophene-2,5-dicarboxylate; dabco = 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. This MOF is based on {Zn2(OOCR)4N2} paddle wheels and is isoreticular to the family of [Zn2(bdc)2(dabco)] derivatives (1b; bdc2− = 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate) with pcu topology. The gas adsorption measurements revealed that 1se shows a 15% higher CO2 volumetric uptake at 273 K and 28% higher CO2 uptake at 298 K (both at 1 bar) compared to the prototypic framework 1b. Methane and nitrogen adsorption at 273 K was also investigated, and IAST calculations demonstrated a pronounced increase in CO2/CH4 and CO2/N2 selectivity for 1se, compared with 1b. For example, the selectivity factor for the equimolar CO2/CH4 gas mixture at 1 bar = 15.1 for 1se and 11.9 for 1b. The obtained results show a remarkable effect of the presence of selenium atom on the carbon dioxide affinity in the isoreticular metal–organic frameworks with very similar geometry and porosity.

Two mixed-ligand coordination polymers based on 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid and flexible N-donor ligands: the protective effect on periodontitis via reducing the release of IL-1β and TNF-α. Abstract
AbstractTwo novel mixed-ligand coordination polymers, {[Co(tdc)(btrp)]·0.67DMF}n (1) and
{[Zn2(bimb)2(tdc)2]·2H2O}n (2) involving 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylate (H2tdc), and bitopic
flexible N-donor ligands, 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propane (btrp) and
1,4-bis((1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene
(bimb), have been synthesized by the hydrothermal method and characterized via IR,
elemental analysis, thermal analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction. The biological
functional studies were performed; the treatment activity of the compounds on
periodontitis and the specific mechanism was explored. First, the real-time RT-PCR
was carried out to determine the inflammatory genes nf-κb and
p53 relative expression in periodontal mucosal cells after
treating with compounds 1 and 2. Then, the level of the
inflammatory cytokine in the gingival crevicular fluid after treating with compounds
was also determined by the ELISA detection kit.
