Co-Solvent Controllable Engineering of MA0.5FA0.5Pb0.8Sn0.2I3 Lead–Tin Mixed Perovskites for Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells with Improved Stability

Additive-Assisted Optimization in Morphology and Optoelectronic Properties of Inorganic Mixed Sn-Pb Halide Perovskites

Halide perovskite solar cells (HPSCs) are promising photovoltaic materials due to their excellent optoelectronic properties, low cost, and high efficiency. Here, we demonstrate atmospheric solution processing and stability of cesium tin-lead triiodide (CsSnPbI₃) thin films for solar cell applications. The effect of additives, such as pyrazine and guanidinium thiocyanate (GuaSCN), on bandgap, film morphology, structure, and stability is investigated. Our results indicate the formation of a wide bandgap (>2 eV) structure with a mixed phase of tin oxide (SnO₂) and Cs(Sn, Pb)I₃. The addition of pyrazine decreases the intensity of SnO₂ peaks, but the bandgap does not change much. With the addition of GuaSCN, the bandgap of the films reduces to 1.5 eV, and a dendritic structure of Cs(Sn, Pb)I₃ is observed. GuaSCN addition also reduces the oxygen content in the films. To enable uniform film crystallization, cesium chloride (CsCl) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) additives are used in the precursor. Both CsCl and DMSO suppress dendrite formation with the latter resulting in uniform polycrystalline films with a bandgap of 1.5 eV. Heat and light soaking (HLS) stability tests at 65 °C and 1 sun for 100 h show all film types are stable with temperature but result in phase segregation with light exposure.

The Effects of Temperature on the Growth of a Lead-Free Perovskite-Like (CH3NH3)3Sb2Br9 Single Crystal for An MSM Photodetector Application

We have fabricated a photodetector based on (CH₃NH₃)₃Sb₂Br₉ (MA₃Sb₂Br₉) lead-free perovskite-like single crystal, which plays an important role in the optoelectronic characteristics of the photodetector as a perovskite-like photosensitive layer. Here, MA₃Sb₂Br₉ single crystals were synthesized by an inverse temperature crystallization process with a precursor solution at three different growth temperatures, 60 °C, 80 °C, and 100 °C. As a result, a MA₃Sb₂Br₉ single crystal with an optimum growth temperature of 60 °C presented a low trap density of 2.63 × 10¹¹ cm^-3, a high charge carrier mobility of 0.75 cm² V^-1 s^-1, and excellent crystal structure and optical absorption properties. This MA₃Sb₂Br₉ perovskite-like photodetector displayed a low dark current of 8.09 × 10^-9 A, high responsivity of 0.113 A W^-1, and high detectivity of 4.32 × 10¹¹ Jones.

Highly fluorescent CsPbBr3/TiO2 core/shell perovskite nanocrystals with excellent stability

The poor stability of CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskite nanocrystals is the most impediment to its application in the field of photoelectrics. In this work, monodisperse CsPbBr3/TiO2 nanocrystals are successfully prepared by coating titanium precursor on the surface of colloidal CsPbBr3 nanocrystals at room temperature. The CsPbBr3/TiO2 nanocomposites exhibit excellent stability, remaining the identical particle size (9.2 nm), crystal structures and optical properties. Time-resolved photoluminescence decay shows that the lifetime of CsPbBr3/TiO2 nanocrystals is about 4.04 ns and keeps great stability after lasting two months in the air. Results show that the coating of TiO2 on CsPbBr3 NCs greatly suppressed the anion exchange and photodegradation, which are the main reasons for dramatically improving their chemical stability and photostability. The results provide an effective method to solve the stability problem of perovskite nanostructures and are expected to have a promising application in optoelectronic fields

Spectacular Enhancement of the Thermal and Photochemical Stability of MAPbI3 Perovskite Films Using Functionalized Tetraazaadamantane as a Molecular Modifier

Perovskite solar cells represent a highly promising third-generation photovoltaic technology. However, their practical implementation is hindered by low device operational stability, mostly related to facile degradation of the absorber materials under exposure to light and elevated temperatures. Improving the intrinsic stability of complex lead halides is a big scientific challenge, which might be addressed using various “molecular modifiers”. These modifiers are usually represented by some additives undergoing strong interactions with the perovskite absorber material, resulting in enhanced solar cell efficiency and/or operational stability. Herein, we present a derivative of 1,4,6,10-tetraazaadamantane, NAdCl, as a promising molecular modifier for lead halide perovskites. NAdCl spectacularly improved both the thermal and photochemical stability of methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) films and, most importantly, prevented the formation of metallic lead Pb0 as a photolysis product. NAdCl improves the electronic quality of perovskite films by healing the traps for charge carriers. Furthermore, it strongly interacts with the perovskite framework and most likely stabilizes undercoordinated Pb2+ ions, which are responsible for Pb0 formation under light exposure. The obtained results feature 1,4,6,10-tetraazaadamantane derivatives as highly promising molecular modifiers that might help to improve the operational lifetime of perovskite solar cells and facilitate the practical implementation of this photovoltaic technology.
