Acacia from a Breeding and Biotechnological Perspective: A Review

Members of genus Acacia comprises of trees used as fuelwood, timber and fodder. Moreover, some parts of plants are also used for their therapeutic properties. The development and applications of breeding and biotechnological tools are advancing at a significantly fast rate. Molecular markers and genomics offer vital information with regard to the inherited variation. The aim of this study to complied and discussed the developments in molecular maker technology, genomics and genetic engineering concerning genus Acacia. Overall, this information will be useful to gain awareness about the crucial trees in the genus Acacia from breeding and a biotechnological perspective.

Research in Forest Biology in the Era of Climate Change and Rapid Urbanization

Green plants provide the foundation for the structure, function, and interactions among organisms in both tropical and temperate zones. To date, many investigations have revealed patterns and mechanisms that generate plant diversity at various scales and from diverse ecological perspectives. However, in the era of climate change, anthropogenic disturbance, and rapid urbanization, new insights are needed to understand how plant species in these forest habitats are changing and adapting. Here, we recognize four themes that link studies from Asia and Europe presented in this Special Issue: (1) genetic analyses of diverse plant species; (2) above- and below-ground forest biodiversity; (3) trait expression and biological mechanisms; and (4) interactions of woody plants within a changing environment. These investigations enlarge our understanding of the origins of diversity, trait variation and heritability, and plant–environment interactions from diverse perspectives.

Data of de novo assembly of fruit transcriptome in Aegle marmelos L

Aegle marmelos L. (Bael), of family Rutaceae, produces nutritious and medicinally important fruits. Here, we provide the first information regarding the de novo transcriptome assembly of Aegle marmelos L. fruit. The information on the fruit transcriptome sequencing data will be useful to gain a better insight into the important pathways in the Aegle marmelos L. fruits.
