Abstract
Increased exposure to fluoride, which notably affects bone metabolism, is a global concern. However, the correlations and sensitivity of bone metabolism to fluoride remain controversial. In this cross-sectional study, 549 children (aged 7-12 years) and 504 adults (≥ 18 years old) were recruited in the high-fluoride areas of the Henan Province. Urinary fluoride (UF) level was determined using a fluoride electrode. Fasting venous blood serum was collected to measure bone metabolism biomarkers. The selected bone metabolism biomarkers for children included bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP), serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osteocalcin (OCN), calcitonin (CT), parathyroid hormone (PTH), phosphorus (P5+), and calcium (Ca2+). For adults, the biomarkers included ALP, CT, PTH, β-CrossLaps (β-CTX), P5+, and Ca2+. The correlations between UF and bone metabolism biomarkers were analyzed using binary logistic regression, a trend test, a generalized additive model, and threshold effect analysis. Regression analysis indicated a significant correlation between serum OCN, PTH, and UF levels in children aged 7-9 years. Serum OCN, PTH, and BALP contents were significantly correlated with UF in boys (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the interaction between age and UF affected serum P5+ and PTH (P < 0.05). The generalized additive model revealed nonlinear dose-response relationships between P5+, BALP, and UF contents in children (P < 0.05). Serum OCN level was linearly correlated with the UF concentration (P < 0.05). Similarly, a significant correlation was observed between β-CTX and UF levels in adults. In addition, significant correlations were observed between UF-age and serum Ca2+, β-CTX, and PTH contents. There was a non-linear correlation between serum Ca2+, P5+, and β- CTX and UF levels (P < 0.05). Overall, serum OCN, BALP, and P5+ levels can serve as sensitive bone metabolism biomarkers in children, while β-CTX, P5+, and Ca2+ can be considered fluoride-sensitive bone metabolism biomarkers in adults.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dietary phosphorus intake may serve as a potential predictor for peripheral neuropathy (PN). While past research has predominantly focused on the relationship between dietary phosphorus and bone health, relatively little is known about its role in the nervous system, particularly its association with PN. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted using data from NHANES 1999-2004. Participants were categorized into different dietary phosphorus intake groups, and the relationship between dietary phosphorus and PN was explored using multifactorial logistic regression, restricted cubic splines (RCS) analysis, and threshold effect analysis based on dietary intake. RESULTS The final study included 7726 participants, with 1378 diagnosed with PN and 6348 without. The study revealed a U-shaped non-linear relationship between dietary calcium and magnesium intake levels and PN, indicating that both excessive and insufficient dietary phosphorus intake may increase the risk of PN. Specifically, the incidence rates in the first quintile (1.433, 95% CI: 1.080-1.901), the fourth quintile (1.284, 95% CI: 1.000-1.648), and the fifth quintile (1.533, 95% CI: 1.155-2.035) significantly higher than the second quintile, with an overall trend showing a decrease followed by an increase in incidence rates. The results of RCS and threshold effect analysis indicate that when dietary phosphorus intake is below 939.44mg, the risk of PN decreases with increasing dietary phosphorus intake. On the contrary, when dietary phosphorus intake exceeds 939.44mg, the risk of PN increases with increasing dietary phosphorus intake. CONCLUSION This study reveals a U-shaped correlation between dietary phosphorus intake and PN. Future research should further elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying this association, providing guidance for more scientifically informed dietary adjustments to prevent the occurrence of PN.

Abstract
This paper proposed a rapid, selective and sensitive molybdenum yellow derivatization coupled with Resonance Rayleigh scattering (MYD-RRS) method for detection of phosphate. Under the acidic condition, phosphate can be selectively transformed to Keggin type of phosphomolybdic acid (PMA, i.e., PMo12O403-) through molybdenum yellow derivatization reaction prior to RRS detection. The PMA can further react with cationic methyl violet (MV) to form larger PMA-MV ion association complexes, generating significant RRS signal. The concentration of phosphate was linearly related to the RRS signal in the range of 8-200 ng/mL, with the determining coefficient (R2) of 0.9973 and the detection limit of 4 ng/mL. The analytical procedure can be completed within 10 min and the RRS signal intensity can remain stable more than 4 h. The method showed good stability toward temperature and time, and good anti-interference capability. The method was applied to the determination of phosphate in real food samples with the recovery of 85-117% and RSD of 1-5.2%. With the advantages of rapidness, high sensitivity and good selectivity, the MYD-RRS method exhibits great potential to the determination of phosphate in food. It also provides an instructive strategy for detection of analytes with weak RRS signal.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aims to evaluate the risk factors of refracture in elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) patients after percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) and construct a predictive nomogram model. METHODS Elderly symptomatic OVCF patients undergoing PVP were enrolled and grouped based on the development of refracture within 1 year postoperatively. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify risk factors. Subsequently, a nomogram prediction model was constructed and evaluated based on these risk factors. RESULTS A total of 264 elderly OVCF patients were enrolled in the final cohort. Among these, 48 (18.2%) patients had suffered refracture within 1 year after surgery. Older age, lower mean spinal BMD, multiple vertebral fracture, lower albumin/fibrinogen ratio (AFR), no postoperative regular anti-osteoporosis, and exercise were six independent risk factors identified for postoperative refracture. The AUC of the constructed nomogram model based on these six factors was 0.812 with a specificity and sensitivity of 0.787 and 0.750, respectively. CONCLUSIONS In summary, the nomogram model based on the six risk factors had clinical efficacy for refracture prediction.

Abstract
Frozen storage technology has been widely used for the preservation of Aquatic products. However, ice crystals formation, lipid oxidation and protein denaturation still easily causes aquatic products deterioration. Cryoprotectants are a series of food additives that could efficiently prolong the shelf life and guarantee the acceptability of frozen aquatic products. This review comprehensively illustrated the mechanism of protein denaturation caused by the ice crystal formation and lipid oxidation. The cryoprotective mechanism of various kinds of antifreeze agents (saccharides, phosphates, antifreeze proteins and peptides) and these cryoprotective structure-activity relationship, application efficiency on the quality of aquatic products were also discussed. Moreover, the advantages and disadvantages of each cryoprotectant are also prospected. Compared with others, antifreeze peptides show higher commercial and application values. While, lots of scientific research works are still required to develop novel antifreeze agent as a versatile ingredient with commercial value, applicable in the aquatic products preservation industry.
