Abstract
The natural healing process of bone is impaired in the presence of tumors, trauma, or inflammation, necessitating external assistance for bone regeneration. The limitations of autologous/allogeneic bone grafting are still being discovered as research progresses. Bone tissue engineering (BTE) is now a crucial component of treating bone injuries and actively works to promote vascularization, a crucial stage in bone repair. A biomaterial with hydroxyapatite (HA), which resembles the mineral makeup of invertebrate bones and teeth, has demonstrated high osteoconductivity, bioactivity, and biocompatibility. However, due to its brittleness and porosity, which restrict its application, scientists have been prompted to explore ways to improve its properties by mixing it with other materials, modifying its structural composition, improving fabrication techniques and growth factor loading, and co-cultivating bone regrowth cells to stimulate vascularization. This review scrutinizes the latest five-year research on HA composite studies aimed at amplifying vascularization in bone regeneration.

Abstract
Hydrogels, as biological materials, are widely used in food, tissue engineering, and biomedical applications. Nevertheless, many issues remain in the preparation of hydrogels by physical and chemical methods, such as low bioaffinity, weak mechanical properties, and unstable structures, which also limit their applications in other fields. However, the enzymatic cross-linking method has the advantages of high catalytic efficiency, mild reaction conditions, and the presence of nontoxic substances. In this review, we evaluated the chemical, physical, and biological methods of preparing hydrogels and introduced three common cross-linking enzymes and their principles for preparing hydrogels. This review introduced the applications and properties of hydrogels prepared by the enzymatic method and also provided some suggestions regarding the current situation and future development of hydrogels prepared by enzymatic cross-linking.

Abstract
Incorporating biopolymers in packaging foams can contribute to a more circular packaging system, utilizing renewable and compostable materials. Gelatin, with its favorable physicochemical properties, allows for producing gelatin foams via mechanical foaming, a well-established and low-investment process. To improve foam properties, starch can be added to the gelatin formulation. However, the variability in the properties of starch powders can impact the polymer blend and, consequently, the properties of the dry foam. This study aimed to investigate the impact of different starch powders from different botanical origins (tapioca and corn) and treatments (native or pregelatinized) on the properties of gelatin–starch foams produced by mechanical foaming. The study successfully produced foams with densities of approximately 45–50 kg/m3 and compression properties comparable to EPS (expanded polystyrene) foams. The starch type and pre-treatment significantly influenced the properties of the foam. Pregelatinized starches exhibited slightly higher densities due to lower foamability caused by higher viscosity. Using starch exhibiting total loss of birefringence led to denser foams with greater compression properties than those with starch with a certain degree of crystallinity remaining. Therefore, selecting the appropriate starch type is crucial when developing starch-based materials to ensure optimal material and processing properties align with application requirements.

Abstract
Amino acid-surfactant interactions are central to numerous studies because of their increased effectiveness in chemical, biological, household and industrial use. This review will focus on the impact and effect of the physicochemical properties, temperature, pH, and surfactant chain length of the amino acid for detailed exploration of amino acids and surfactants in aqueous medium. The impact of cosolvent on self-aggregation, critical micelle concentration (CMC), and binding affinity with other biomolecules, as well as amino acid-surfactant interactions, are the epicenters. The results show that increasing the temperature causes negative enthalpy for ionic surfactants and micellization, implying that micellization and amino acids are thermodynamically spontaneous and exothermic, accompanied by positive entropy. As these physicochemical studies are additive, the amino acid and ionic surfactant interactions provide clues on protein unfolding and denaturation under different media, which further changes with a change in physiological conditions like pH, cosolvent, chain length, and temperature. On varying the pH, the net charge of the amino acid also changes and, subsequently, the binding efficiency of the amino acids to the surfactants. The presence of cosolvent causes a lowering in the hydrophobic chain, which changes the surfactant's CMC. At a reduced CMC, the hydrophobic characteristic of amino acid-surfactant associations is amplified, leading to rapid denaturation of proteins that act as propulsion under the influence of extended chain surfactants. Amino acids are one of the most intriguing classes of chemicals that produce high inhibitory efficacy. Amino acids are also a component of proteins and therefore, found in a significant part of the human body, further making them a promising candidate as corrosion inhibitors. In this review article, authors have also focused on the collection and investigation for application of amino acid-surfactant interactions in corrosion inhibition. Various predictive studies/in silico studies are also reported by many research groups, such as density functional theory (DFT) calculations and molecular dynamics simulations to obtain tentative electronic, structural, and physiochemical characteristics like energies of the highest occupied molecular orbitals and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals, binding energy, Gibb's free energy, electronegativity, polarizability, and entropy. In silico studies are helpful for the mechanism predictions of the process occurring on metal surfaces.

Abstract
Although most cellular polymers are made from thermoplastics using different foaming technologies, gelatin and many other natural polymers can form hydrogels and convert them to cellular solids using various techniques, many of which differ from traditional plastic foaming, and so does their resulting structures. Cellular solids from natural hydrogels are porous materials that often exhibit a combination of desirable properties, including high specific surface area, biochemical activity, as well as thermal and acoustic insulation properties. Among natural hydrogels, gelatin-based porous materials are widely explored due to their availability, biocompatibility, biodegradability and relatively low cost. In addition, gelatin-based cellular solids have outstanding properties and are currently subject to increasing scientific research due to their potential in many applications, such as biocompatible cellular materials or biofoams to facilitate waste treatment. This article aims at providing a comprehensive review of gelatin cellular solids processing and their processing-properties-structure relationship. The fabrication techniques covered include aerogels production, mechanical foaming, blowing agents use, 3D printing, electrospinning and particle leaching methods. It is hoped that the assessment of their characteristics provides compiled information and guidance for selecting techniques and optimization of processing conditions to control material structure and properties to meet the needs of the finished products.
