Abstract
PURPOSE Older adults frequently encounter health challenges, such as impaired balance and muscle health, which increase risk of falls. The current study investigated the effectiveness of the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) technique in improving balance and muscle health among older adults with high fall risk. METHOD A total of 160 older adults with high fall risk were randomized into control and intervention groups. Over 6 months, the control group received standard interventions, while the intervention group received the same interventions and additional PNF training. RESULTS Both groups demonstrated improvements in balance function over time, with the intervention group exhibiting significant improvements in Berg Balance Scale scores, Timed Up and Go test times, and 30-Second Chair Stand Test counts (p < 0.05). Bone density significantly increased in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0.05), although no substantial differences in lower limb muscle mass were observed. Satisfaction rates were higher and fall incidents fewer in the intervention group. CONCLUSION The PNF technique is effective in enhancing balance function and muscle health in older adults with high fall risk, demonstrating potential in reducing fall risk and improving quality of life among older adults. Abstract
(1) Background: This study aimed to investigate the effects of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation pattern kinesio taping on arm swing, balance, and gait parameters among chronic stroke patients. (2) Methods: Twenty-eight participants were randomized into proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation pattern kinesio taping during gait training (n = 14) and gait training (n = 14) groups. The proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation pattern kinesio taping during gait training group employed proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation pattern kinesio taping during 15 min treadmill-based gait training five times a week for four weeks, while the gait training group underwent the same gait training without proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation pattern kinesio taping. Arm swing angle was measured using the Image J program, static balance was assessed with an AMTI force plate, dynamic balance was evaluated through the Timed Up and Go test, and gait parameters were recorded using the GAITRite system and the Dynamic Gait Index. (3) Results: After 4 weeks of training, the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation pattern kinesio taping during gait training group exhibited significant improvements in all variables compared to the baseline (p < 0.05), whereas the gait training group did not show statistically significant differences in any variables (p > 0.05). (4) Conclusions: This study demonstrates the effectiveness of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation pattern kinesio taping during gait training in enhancing arm swing angle, balance, and gait parameters.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Kinesio taping can effectively strengthen weakened muscles, increase walking speed, and improve dynamic balance in hemiplegic patients, but its effect on lower-limb coordination is not clear. Improving lower-limb coordination in hemiplegic patients can decrease risk of fall during walking. RESEARCH QUESTION This study utilized continuous relative phase to depict the pattern and variability of lower-limb coordination in hemiplegic patients and healthy subjects during walking, and investigate whether it has the acute effect of Kinesio Taping on lower-limb coordination in hemiplegic patients during walking. METHODS Gait was measured by a three-dimensional motion capture system for 29 hemiplegic patients (KT group) and 15 healthy subjects (control group). Mean continuous relative phase (MCRP) and mean continuous relative phase variability (MCRPV) were calculated to describe and evaluate lower-limb coordination. RESULTS KT intervention only changed the coordination between the bilateral ankle joints in hemiplegic patients. Before the intervention, the MCRP of the two ankles (AA-MCRP) in the stance period of the control group was greater than the KT group (P < 0.001), the MCRPV of the two ankles (AA-MCRPV) in the swing period was lower than that in KT group (P < 0.001). After the intervention, the AA-MCRP in the stance period of the KT group increased (P < 0.001), the AA-MRPV in the swing period of KT group significantly decreased (P = 0.001). SIGNIFICANCE Immediate ankle KT intervention can result in the in-phase or anti-phase coordination between the two ankles developing to out-of-phase coordination during the stance period of the affected limb during walking, and increase the stability of the out-of-phase coordination between the two ankles during the swing period of the affected limb. KT can be used in rehabilitation treatment for hemiplegic patients to improve acute coordination between the patients' ankles.

Abstract
Background: The application of Kinesio Taping (KT) on the lower extremity of stroke patients can improve the quality of somatosensory information by activating lower extremity muscles involved in postural control. Gait analysis and surface electromyography (SEMG) are valuable in assessing the motor ability of the lower extremities.Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of KT therapy on gait and SEMG in stroke patients with hemiplegia.Methods: Twenty-one stroke patients were included in the study. KT was applied to the lower extremities of the hemiplegic side. Quantitative gait parameters were measured by a gait analysis system (IDEEA, by MiniSun, United States) and activation of the lower extremity muscles were evaluated by the SEMG (Trigno™ Wireless Systems, Delsys Inc., United States) before and after taping. Step length, stride length, pulling acceleration, swing power, ground impact, and energy expenditure were used to evaluate when patients walk as usual. SEMG signals were collected from the anterior bilateral tibialis (TA) and the lateral gastrocnemius (LG). The root mean square (RMS) value was used to assess muscle activity. SEMG signals were examined before and after KT treatment in three different locomotor conditions of the patients: walking at a natural speed, walking with a weight of 5 kg, dual-tasking walking (walking + calculation task) while carrying a weight of 5 kg. The calculation task was to ask the patients to calculate the result of subtracting 7 from 100 and continuing to subtract 7 from the resulting numbers. Comparisons between two normally distributed samples (before and after KT treatment) were evaluated using the two-tailed, paired Student’s t-test.Results: Stride length (0.89 ± 0.19 vs. 0.96 ± 0.23; p = 0.029), pulling acceleration (0.40 ± 0.21 vs. 1.11 ± 0.74; p = 0.005), and swing power (0.42 ± 0.24 vs. 1.14 ± 0.72; p = 0.004) improved in the hemiplegia side after KT treatment. The RMS value of TA SEMG signals in the limbs on the hemiplegia side decreased after KT treatment during dual-tasking walking carrying a weight of 5 kg (3.65 ± 1.31 vs. 2.93 ± 0.95; p = 0.030).Conclusion: KT treatment is effective in altering gait and SEMG characteristics in stroke patients with hemiplegia.

Abstract
Objective Based on a retrospective case-control study, logistic multivariate analysis was employed to explore the effects of nursing and psychological factors on the rehabilitation of motor and cognitive function in patients with stroke. Methods A total of 200 stroke patients treated from February 2019 to April 2020 were enrolled in our hospital. According to the results of exercise and cognitive rehabilitation, the patients with good rehabilitation were divided into the control group (n = 140) and the research group (n = 60). The effects of nursing and psychological factors on the rehabilitation of motor and cognitive function in patients with stroke were analyzed. Results First of all, we compared the general data. There were significant differences in terms of age, years of education, occupational status, payment methods of medical expenses, family income and the course of the disease, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in general data (P > 0.05). Secondly, we compared the nursing effective rates. The nursing effective rates of the study group were 10 cases, 15 cases, 12 cases, and 23 cases, and the nursing effective rate was 61.67%. In the control group, 78 cases were markedly effective, 33 cases were effective, 25 cases were general and 14 cases were ineffective, and the nursing effective rate was 90.00%. The effective rate of nursing in the study group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in anxiety and depression scores before nursing (P > 0.05), but they decreased after nursing. In addition, the scores of anxiety and depression in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in motor function and cognitive function between prenursing and prenursing (P > 0.05); after nursing, the motor function increased and the score of cognitive function decreased. Furthermore, the motor function of the study group was lower compared to the control group, and the score of cognitive function of the study group was higher compared to the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The results of the Person correlation analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between nursing anxiety depression and the rehabilitation effect of motor cognitive function in stroke patients. The results of logistic regression analysis showed that age, family income, nursing efficiency, anxiety, and depression were the factors affecting the rehabilitation of motor and cognitive function in stroke patients. Conclusion Age and family income may be the risk factors affecting the psychological mood of patients. Medical staff should pay attention to the negative emotion of patients and strengthen the nursing intervention of patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND One of the important goals in the treatment of spastic cerebral palsy is to maintain efficient and effective walking in order to be independent in activities and participate in society. OBJECTIVE To compare the efficacy of foot combination taping of kinesio tape and athletic tape vs ankle foot orthosis in correcting spatiotemporal gait parameters in children with spastic diplegia. METHODS Thirty-six children with spastic diplegia were randomly assigned into 3 groups; control, combination taping, and ankle foot orthosis groups. Children in the control group, in addition to those in both experimental groups, continued with conventional physical therapy, 1 h, 3 times per week for 4 weeks. Spatiotemporal gait parameters were assessed with the GAITRite system before and after the application of interventions. RESULTS Significant increases in walking velocity, step length, stride length, right single support duration, and left single support duration of the ankle foot orthosis and combination taping groups than pre-intervention values. [AQ9] Moreover, the post--intervention values of the double support duration of the ankle foot orthosis and combination taping groups were significantly lower than pre-intervention values. There were no significant differences between the post-intervention values of the ankle foot orthosis and combination taping groups for all parameters. CONCLUSION The results demonstrated that combination taping is an effective alternative technique to ankle foot orthosis to improve spatiotemporal parameters in children with spastic diplegic in combination with conventional physiotherapy.

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effect of a proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) pattern Kinesio taping (KT) application on the ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (DF-ROM) and balance ability in patients with chronic stroke. This crossover study included 18 patients with stroke. The subjects were randomly assigned to three interventions: barefoot, ankle KT (A-KT), and PNF-KT. The A-KT was applied to the gastrocnemius and tibialis anterior (TA) muscles, and subtalar eversion. The PNF-KT was applied on the extensor hallucis, extensor digitorum, and TA muscles. DR-ROM was measured using the iSen™, a wearable sensor. Balance ability was assessed based on static balance, measured by the Biodex Balance System (BBS), and dynamic balance, measured by the timed up and go (TUG) test and dynamic gait index (DGI). Compared with the barefoot and A-KT interventions, PNF-KT showed significant improvements in the ankle DF-ROM and BBS scores, TUG, and DGI. PNF-KT, for functional muscle synergy, improved the ankle DF-ROM and balance ability in patients with chronic stroke. Therefore, the application of PNF-KT may be a feasible therapeutic method for improving ankle movement and balance in patients with chronic stroke. Additional research is recommended to identify the long-term effects of the PNF-KT.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of wrist stabilization exercise combined with taping on wrist pain, disability, and quality of life in postpartum women with wrist pain. Forty-five patients with wrist pain were recruited and randomly divided into three groups: wrist stabilization exercise + taping therapy (WSE + TT) group (n = 15), wrist stabilization exercise (WSE) group (n = 15), and control group (n = 15). The WSE + TT and WSE groups performed wrist stabilization exercises for 40 min (once a day, five times a week for eight weeks), and the control group performed passive range of motion (P-ROM) exercise for the same amount of time. Additionally, the WSE + TT group attached taping to the wrist and forearm during the training period. The visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to assess pain level of the wrist. The Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) and the Short Form-36 (SF-36) were used to evaluate the degree of wrist disability and quality of life, respectively. The WSE + TT group showed a significant decrease in wrist pain and functional disability compared to two groups (p < 0.05). Significant improvement in the SF-36 score was observed in the WSE + TT and WSE groups compared to that in the control group (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between the WSE + TT and WSE groups in the SF-36. Our findings indicate that wrist stabilization exercise combined with taping is beneficial and effective in managing wrist pain and disability in postpartum women with wrist pain.
