Abstract
Musculoskeletal discomfort among children carrying school bags is an increasingly significant problem. This study sought to determine the prevalence and risk factors of musculoskeletal discomfort among Thai primary school students who carry excessively heavy school bags. We conducted cross-sectional descriptive research involving 489 primary school students (ages 7-12). We utilized the standardized Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ) to assess discomfort in various body regions. Measurements included student weight, school bag weight, and the angles of neck and trunk inclination. Logistic regression was used to analyze factors influencing musculoskeletal discomfort. The results showed that the majority of students had musculoskeletal discomfort (66.67%). The average relative weight of the school bags was 17.46 ± 6.02%. Significant risk factors for musculoskeletal discomfort included being female (AOR = 1.87, 95% CI = 1.12-3.10), being in grades 1-3 (AOR = 0.221, 95% CI = 0.05-0.91), carrying bags for more than 20 min per day (AOR = 28.87, 95% CI = 8.93-93.31), not storing books at school (AOR = 2.06, 95% CI = 1.07-3.95), and carrying a school bag weighing > 10% of the student's body weight (AOR = 65.46, 95% CI = 14.73-290.93). Additionally, neck and trunk inclinations > 20 degrees were associated with increased discomfort (AOR = 3.25, 95% CI = 1.89-5.57; AOR = 3.26, 95% CI = 1.58-6.70). The prevalence of musculoskeletal discomfort was higher in Thai primary school students. Female, Grades 1-3, carrying bags exceeding 20 min/day, carrying a school bag weighing > 10% of the student's body weight, and neck and trunk inclinations > 20 degrees were predictor variables for musculoskeletal discomfort. Thus, collaborative efforts from educational institutions, educators, parents, and students are essential in addressing this issue.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Back pain diseases are among frequently reported health problems. Unfortunately, more often this problem also affects young people, high school students. Lifestyle that people are representing nowadays has a negative impact on their spine. Development of technology and transportation eliminates daily basic physical activity such as taking a walk to the school. Prolonged and inappropriate sitting posture during classes and using the computer at home are predisposing factors for back pain occurrence. The aim of this paper was to analyze the frequency of back pain occurrence among high school youth and attempt to relate their occurrence frequency with sex, time spent in sitting position, anthropometric parameters and physical activity of examined students. METHODS The examined group initially counted 272 teenagers, but ultimately 218 were taken into account for the analysis and 54 questionnaires were filled in incorrectly and rejected. All of them were high school students. Customized survey consisting of general part and closed questions regarding physical activity (subjective experience of work load) was used as an examination tool. RESULTS Examined youth spent on average 10.04 hours daily in a sitting position. As much as 195 (89.45%) of examined teenagers declared to experience back pain at least once in their lives. The most of teenagers (117; 53.67%) indicated lumbar spine pain. Girls more often felt spine pain issues in comparison to boys. Short stature of teenagers was often related to back pain occurrence. No correlation between time spent in sitting position and frequency of skeleton axis pain occurrence was noted. Among group of boys a relation between more frequent physical activity and less often spine pain occurrence was observed. CONCLUSIONS Spine pain is an important health problem of examined youth, occurring more frequent among girls than boys. Body height correlate negatively with frequency of spine pain occurrence among youth. Despite spending more than 10 hours daily in sitting position by examined youth, it did not affect the frequency of back pain issues occurrence. Higher physical activity of examined boys was related to less often back pains.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Data on the prevalence and factors associated with low back pain (LBP) in schoolchildren are scarce in Africa, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. OBJECTIVES To assess the prevalence and factors associated with LBP in schoolchildren in Cameroon. PATIENTS AND METHODS We performed a cross-sectional study in 10 randomly selected schools (public and private) in Douala, Cameroon. Using a self-administrated questionnaire, sociodemographic, usual physical activity, and clinical data were collected and all the schoolbags were weighted. Informed consent was obtained from the parents. Statistical significance was established at P < .05. Logistic regression was performed to identify factors associated with LBP. RESULTS We included 1075 schoolchildren (543 boys, 50.5%). The prevalence of LBP was 12.3% (132 children: 81 girls and 51 boys). The mean age was 11 ± 1 years (range, 8-14 years). Body mass index was normal in 110 schoolchildren (83.4%). Sixteen schoolchildren had already met a physician for LBP. Among the factors evaluated, those associated with LBP were female gender, doing competitive sport, sitting position, and LBP in at least 1 parent. The mean weight of the schoolbags was 4.9 ± 1.9 kg. We had 99 children with LBP and a schoolbag weight ≥10% of their body weight. No association was found between the weight of schoolbag and LBP. CONCLUSION LBP is common in Cameroonian schoolchildren, where 12.3% suffer from it. The weight of schoolbags was not associated with LBP. However, female gender, competitive sport, sitting position, and parental history of LBP were significantly associated with its occurrence.

Abstract
Early back care has become the preventive strategy to mitigate bad postural habits and musculoskeletal alterations that trigger inadequate postural patterns in the body schema. The objective was to determine the knowledge and practice of back care in first-grade school children after applying an educational intervention for back care. Quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-tests in a sample of 71 first grade school students. Knowledge and practices for back care were evaluated before and after of the intervention. During 5 weeks, a program of education for back care was developed in the intervention group, formed by concepts about anatomy, physiology, alterations of the spine, adoption of appropriate postures and movements in school life and the execution of adequate movements learned. Simultaneously, physical exercises based on aerobic work, strengthening and stretching the back muscles were carried out with the children in the control group. A linear regression model and a two-level hierarchical model were applied to estimate the effect of the intervention. After the execution of the back care education program, a better score was found in the knowledge and practice questionnaire, which was different between the intervention group and the control group (1.72 95% CI 1.21-2.24). The development of an education program generated a change in the score of the questionnaire on knowledge of back care in the intervnetion group, which suggests the implementation of these strategies in the school context during early childhood, contributing to the prevention of back disorders and deficiencies.

Abstract
Background/Aim: A school bag is a device whose purpose is to store things that are necessary for a child in performing daily productive activities. The aim of the research was to examine how much parents are informed about the school bag and which specifications are crucial when choosing a school bag for their children. Material and methods: The prospective study included 150 parents of students aged 11 to 12 from Banja Luka. For the purposes of the research, a questionnaire with closed and open questions was used. Results: More than 97 % of the surveyed parents belonged to the age range of 30 to 49 years. The largest number of surveyed parents have had secondary education 44 %, but the number of university-educated parents was also very high 39.3 %. Ninety-six percent of students used a backpack. School bags in 97.4 % of cases were purchased in stores. Only in 10 % of cases, school bags fully meet the basic criteria. In the remaining 90 % of cases, there was an absence of at least one or more desired characteristics. Using the Chi-squared test (ch2 = 245.45; p < 0.001), a significant difference between the desired and the achieved result was statistically proven. 77.3 % of parents did not receive information about the school bag. Salespeople (11.3 %), other parents and friends (9.3 %) were the main source of information before purchasing a school bag. In the future, 54 % of parents would like to get information about the school bag through lectures and practical workshops for children and parents. Conclusion: Greater information enables adequate selection and reduces the possibility of marketing tricks and influences on consumers when choosing the desired product such as a school bag. Parents have an important role to play in ensuring unhindered growth and development during the educational process and in raising children's awareness and supervision of the proper use of the school bag.

Abstract
Background: The prevalence of back pain in adolescents is steadily increasing, with negative repercussions on students’ social and academic life. This study sought to improve the ergonomics and musculoskeletal health of adolescents in secondary school by implementing physiotherapy actions within the educational context. Methods: A qualitative collaborative action research approach was used, comprising 49 students, 9 teachers, 11 family members, and 9 physiotherapists. Workshops on ergonomics, stretching, and massage were held. Visual materials were developed to support the assimilation of the information given at the workshops. Data collection included field notes, reflexive diaries, in-depth interviews, and discussion groups. The data were analyzed using the Atlas.ti 6.0 program (Scientific Software Development GmbH, Berlin, Germany). Results: The presence of a physiotherapist in the school context facilitates the acquisition of healthy postural habits. All the adolescents perceived a decrease in back pain after undergoing the program. Conclusions: physiotherapy activities offer students new tools to decrease their back pain and improve their health.
