Abstract
Background Space maintainer appliances can potentially reduce the need for extensive orthodontic treatment in the future for children. However, they can also lead to various complications, such as an increased risk of dental caries and gingival diseases. It is crucial for dentists to carefully evaluate a decision each child's specific situation before deciding whether to apply a space maintainer or not. This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge of dentists at Damascus University, both at undergraduate and specialist levels, regarding when space maintainers should be recommended. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 158 dentists (151 at the undergraduate level and seven at the specialist level). The questionnaire included 13 questions, covering demographic information and self-assessment, and 10 scenarios that are commonly encountered in clinical practice. Results The response rate was 50%. A majority of the participants (85, 53.8%) demonstrated inadequate knowledge. No significant correlations were found between knowledge level and gender (P = 0.853), practice experience (P = 0.171), or self-assessment (P = 0.383). Conclusions Most dentists exhibited a lack of knowledge about space maintainers, with no correlation identified between knowledge level, gender, practice experience, and self-assessment. It is recommended that educational curricula be updated to ensure that clinicians have a better understanding of when to use space maintainers in children.

Abstract
Replantation should be attempted in any case of avulsion, be it immediate or delayed. Retention of the replanted tooth helps in preservation of adjacent alveolar bone. Despite the occurrence of replacement resorption, the tooth can stay healthy and functional in the arch for a longer duration.

Abstract
Dentists play an essential role in the treatment of dental and periodontal traumatic injuries by providing early and correct treatment. The purpose of the present study was to assess the level of knowledge of dental residents regarding dental trauma. The cross-sectional study was conducted at the Faculty of Dental Medicine within the "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi, Romania on a sample of 366 residents in General Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry and Periodontology. To assess their knowledge, a questionnaire was created containing 18 questions about the clinical signs and therapy of dental trauma, with a focus on tooth avulsion. A very low level of knowledge (<25%) was found only for the type of splinting required to maintain an avulsed tooth on the arch. The highest number of correct answers was provided by the residents in Periodontology. Physiological serum as storage medium was recognized by a percentage of 75.9-80% of the subjects, and 60-77% of them recognized pulp necrosis as complication of dental avulsion. The study underlines the need to introduce in the curriculum of all categories of residents additional information, not only in the already existent theoretical form, but also as possible scenarios of various clinical situations.

Abstract
This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on dental trauma patient attendance. The study was registered in the PROSPERO system, using the CRD42021288398 protocol. Searching was performed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, Lilacs, and OpenGrey databases, using the following keywords: "Tooth injuries," "Dental trauma," "Traumatic Dental injury," and "COVID-19". We included observational studies evaluating dental trauma in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Quality assessment was performed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Cross-Sectional Studies. Meta-analysis was performed in RevMan 5.4 software with Odds Ratios as a pooled measure of effect, with a 95% confidence interval, and using random-effects modeling. After applying the eligibility criteria, 32 studies were included for qualitative analysis, in which 10 were used to assess the frequency of dental trauma diagnoses in dental emergencies. Despite the decrease of visits during COVID-19, the analysis revealed no difference between the pandemic and pre-pandemic periods. Regarding the type of dental trauma, two of the studies revealed no differences for the periods before and during the pandemic. This study revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has not impacted the frequency or type of dental trauma compared to previous periods.

Abstract
(1) Background: Traumatic dental injuries are frequent in children and young adults. The facial structures involved in dental trauma may include soft tissues of the face and mouth, bone and dental structures. Dental trauma often results in augmented dental anxiety. Phototherapy can improve stress and pain control thereby improving compliance in young patients with the necessary dental treatments, after dental trauma has occurred. (2) Methods: Phototherapy was performed to enable soft tissue healing. The Tailored Brushing Method (TBM), a personalized approach for at-home oral hygiene procedures, was also utilized, with the aim of improving biofilm control in traumatized patients. (3) Results: The approach hereafter presented made it possible to obtain subjective control of anxiety and pain documented on a visual analog scale (VAS) due to the innovative use of photo-biomodulation. In addition, for the first time, the TBM was adapted to the needs of a patient with facial trauma and illustrated. (4) Conclusions: Phototherapy and TBM were found to be effective in the combined treatment of soft tissue wounds and in the oral care of the traumatized patient.
