Abstract
INTRODUCTION Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disease resulting in a wide range of motor and nonmotor symptoms for which the treatment regimen is often complex. People with Parkinson's (PwP) spend time daily on self-care practices including self-tracking signs and symptoms or seeking disease-specific knowledge. Research suggests self-care interventions yield promising care and health outputs for PwP, yet most research focuses on the provider perspective rather than that of those conducting the self-care. This study explores the meaning of self-care, disease-specific knowledge, and self-tracking from the perspective of PwP in Sweden. METHODS Qualitative data from three data sets were analyzed and compared using qualitative content analysis: one focus group on self-care (n = 14), one free-text survey on disease-specific knowledge (n = 197) and one free-text survey on self-tracking (n = 33). FINDINGS The analysis resulted in three categories: illness-related tasks, internal resources and external resources. Illness-related tasks describe various tasks PwP carry out in self-care, including lifestyle choices, treatments, and self-tracking. Internal resources include personal knowledge/skills as well as mindsets which could facilitate or challenge completing these tasks. Finally, external resources include other PwP, literature, clinicians and other sources of disease-specific knowledge. Self-care was found to fluctuate between beneficial and burdensome depending on such resources. CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, self-care needs to be acknowledged and discussed more often in PD and other complex conditions. Future self-care interventions should consider self-tracking and disease-specific knowledge as well as internal and external resources in their design and implementation. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION A researcher with PD was actively involved in all phases of the research: study design, data collection and analysis, and preparing the manuscript.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to clarify the value of caring programs developed according to Orem's Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory regarding quality of life and self-care as the primary outcomes and self-efficacy, anxiety, depression, and stress as the secondary outcomes among individuals aged 18-70 years with chronic diseases. BACKGROUND Chronically ill patients need to receive appropriate self-care training, counseling, and support. In this regard, the use of caring programs developed based on theories is highly suggested. Orem's Nursing Theory is the most well-known theory that provides a structure to involve patients in their self-care activities. INTRODUCTION Orem's Nursing Theory has been increasingly applied to guide practice for patients with chronic health conditions. However, recent trials have reported conflicting findings on the value of its application. METHODS Eight information sources (e.g., Web of Science Core Collection, PubMed, and Scopus) and the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform were searched up to 30 March 2022. RESULTS A total of 46 studies and 11 study register entries were eligible. Orem's theory-based interventions significantly improved the quality of life, self-care, and self-efficacy as well as significantly reduced anxiety and depression. However, the value of the interventions on stress was uncertain, as performing the meta-analysis was not possible. DISCUSSION Orem's Nursing Theory can help nurses in different fields to dynamically and carefully evaluate patients' self-care ability and implement appropriate nursing measures tailored to their needs, interests, and problems. Considering the inconsistent evidence to support the empirical adequacy of this theory, high-quality reviews are essential. CONCLUSION Orem's theory-based programs had a favorable effect on taking care of adults with chronic diseases. IMPLICATIONS This study augments the previous reviews related to the applicability of Orem's Nursing Theory. Considering the undesirable evidence quality and the high between-study heterogeneity, further well-designed trials are required to draw an evidence-based conclusion.

Abstract
Background: Quality of life (QoL) of persons with Parkinson’s disease (PD) is diminished by (non-)motor symptoms, that require personalized care. Parkinson Nurses (PN) may be pivotal promoting tailored care offerings. This systematic review and meta-analysis investigates PD care models and aims at furnishing current concepts of PN to offer personalized care. Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify the various roles and functions that PN may hold for personalized PD care. Methods: We performed a systematic literature review, utilizing: PubMed, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, and PsycINFO. The review qualitatively evaluated articles, which described personalized care models involving PNs and was guided by the personalized care management model. A meta-analysis compared patient-reported QoL (quantified using the 39-item Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire) between personalized care interventions involving PN versus standard care with. Results: Twenty-seven publications were identified, including six randomized, controlled trials ascertaining with health related QoL (n = 1830 PwPs). The qualitative evaluation revealed that PN contribute to all aspects of personalized care. The meta-analysis showed no improved QoL in personalized care models compared to standard care, thought a great heterogeneity among study design and interventions was outlined (Standardized Mean Difference = –0.8935; 95% Confidence Interval, –2.1177 to 0.3307; z = –1.43, p = 0.1526). Conclusion: PN fulfil important functions in personalized PD care. For the future, a clear role definition will be necessary to adjust training for PN across healthcare systems and care settings but especially to realize their full potential for PD care.

Abstract
Introduction Interventions that support patients to handle the emotional and medical aspects of a long‐term health condition is important. One way is to use peer‐support groups, to help patients solving problems, increasing their knowledge and making decisions. Aim was to investigate the impact on shared decision‐making, empowerment and coping after participation in group‐learning sessions for patients with long‐term conditions (N = 42). Design An intervention following a health education programme based on group‐learning sessions was established. Eight different programmes were held in five different departments at a regional county hospital in Sweden. Methods Questionnaires were analysed using paired‐sample t‐test. Results Results showed that patients might have better opportunities to be more active during their patient encounter after attending the group learning sessions. Interventions directed to patient activation may be one key in future healthcare management, especially concerning long‐term conditions. Empowering patients is central in healthcare, and using different approaches is important.

Abstract
Delivering healthcare to people living with Parkinson's disease (PD) may be challenging in face of differentiated care needs during a PD journey and a growing complexity. In this regard, integrative care models may foster flexible solutions on patients' care needs whereas Parkinson Nurses (PN) may be pivotal facilitators. However, at present hardly any training opportunities tailored to the care priorities of PD-patients are to be found for nurses. Following a conceptual approach, this article aims at setting a framework for training PN by reviewing existing literature on care priorities for PD. As a result, six prerequisites were formulated concerning a framework for training PN. The proposed training framework consist of three modules covering topics of PD: (i) comprehensive care, (ii) self-management support and (iii) health coaching. A fourth module on telemedicine may be added if applicable. The framework streamlines important theoretical concepts of professional PD management and may enable the development of novel, personalized care approaches.
