Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Conditions such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and hypercholesterolemia, are a major public health challenge. This study investigates the influence of oral health indicators, including gum bleeding, active dental caries, tooth mobility, and tooth loss, on their prevalence in Hungary, considering socioeconomic, demographic, and lifestyle factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data from the 2019 Hungarian European Health Interview Survey with 5,603 participants informed this analysis. Data were accessed from the records maintained by the Department of Health Informatics at the University of Debrecen between September and November 2023. Variable selection employed elastic net regularization and k-fold cross-validation, leading to high-performing predictors for weighted multiple logistic regression models. Sensitivity analysis confirmed the findings' validity. RESULTS Significant links were found between poor oral health and chronic cardiac conditions. Multiple teeth extractions increased hypertension risk (OR = 1.67, 95% CI: [1.01-2.77]); dental prosthetics had an OR of 1.45 [1.20-1.75]. Gum bleeding was associated with higher cardiovascular disease (OR = 1.69 [1.30-2.21]) and hypercholesterolemia risks (OR = 1.40 [1.09-1.81]). CONCLUSIONS Oral health improvement may reduce the risk of cardiac conditions. This underscores oral health's role in multidisciplinary disease management.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aims to produce by robocasting leucite/zirconia pieces with suitable mechanical and tribological performance, convenient aesthetics, and antibacterial properties to be used in dental crown replacement. METHODS Leucite pastes reinforced with 12.5%, 25%, and 37.5% wt. ZrO2 nanoparticles were prepared and used to print samples that after sintering were characterized in terms of density, shrinkage, morphology, porosity, mechanical and tribological properties and translucency. A coating of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) and potassium iodide (KI) was applied over the most promising material. The material's antibacterial activity and cytotoxicity were assessed. RESULTS It was found that the increase of ZrO2 reinforcement up to 25% enhanced both microhardness and fracture toughness of the sintered composite. However, for a superior content of ZrO2, the increase of the porosity negatively affected the mechanical behaviour of the composite. Moreover, the composite with 25% ZrO2 exhibited neglectable wear in chewing simulator tests and induced the lowest wear on the antagonist dental cusps. Although this composite exhibited lower translucency than human teeth, it was three times higher than the ZrO2 glazed material. Coating this composite material with SDF+KI conferred antibacterial properties without inducing cytotoxicity. SIGNIFICANCE Robocasting of leucite reinforced with 25% ZrO2 led to best results. The obtained material revealed superior optical properties and tribomechanical behaviour compared to glazed ZrO2 (that is a common option in dental practice). Moreover, the application of SDF+KI coating impaired S. aureus proliferation, which anticipates its potential benefit for preventing pathogenic bacterial complications associated with prosthetic crown placement.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The effect of breastfeeding on periodontal disease in women remains unclear. This cross-sectional study used data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to explore the association between breastfeeding and periodontitis in Korean women using data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES VII). MATERIALS AND METHODS Cross-sectional data was analyzed from the KNHANES 2016-2018. The study population included 5,587 parous women aged ≥ 30 years. The outcome variable was the presence or absence of periodontitis. The explanatory variable, period of breastfeeding, was defined as "none", "1-11 months", and "more than 12 months". Confounder variables (socio-educational, personal healthcare practice, and systemic medical characteristics) were adjusted for in the logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Approximately 60% of the participants breastfed for ≥ 12 months. In all statistical models, the prevalence of periodontitis was approximately 60% greater in women that did not breastfeed compared to women that had breastfed for 12 months or longer. When adjusted for age, statistical significance was only present in the 50-59 years age group (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.678; 95% confidence interval [CIs], 1.046-2.691). CONCLUSION Our study shows that women that breastfed for a relatively long duration had a lower risk of periodontitis. Therefore, breastfeeding may be beneficial for women's periodontal health. These results are expected to be helpful in oral health education for pregnant women.

Abstract
A dental prosthesis will only be successful if the restoration lasts for a long period and does not cause any illness. The presence of permanent prosthetic restorations has been linked to an increased risk of periodontal infections, according to a large body of research that has been gathered. When chronic inflammation is brought on by fixed prosthetic constructions, both cellular and noncellular immunity are activated as adaptive immune mechanisms. It has previously been stated that both clinically adequate and inadequate restorations might cause gingival inflammation. Areas surrounding the abutment teeth presented periodontal pockets, attachment loss, congestion, bleeding on probing, and gingival hyperplasia after fixed restorations were removed. The depth of pockets, bleeding on probing, and bone loss are all closely correlated with disease's severity and IL-1β concentration in gingival crevicular fluid; IL-1β shows higher values in disease sites than in healthy ones. hs-CRP and TNF-α blood levels showed a considerable reduction one day after fixed restorations were applied, in comparison with the pre-treatment values. Collaboration between prosthodontists and periodontists is essential for a good treatment outcome since it will increase the restoration's lifespan, enhance periodontal health, and improve the quality of life for dental patients.

Abstract
Background/purpose Fixed prostheses are essential for restoring teeth with compromised structures. However, the margins of prosthesis potentially create an interface that interferes with proper cleaning. This study evaluated whether the fixed prosthesis placement influenced the clinical effectiveness of non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT). Materials and methods Clinical records from 202 patients with generalized chronic periodontitis receiving NSPT at the National Taiwan University Hospital in 2012-2014 were included. The change and improvement ratio (IR) of clinical parameters following NSPT in the entire dentition or posterior region, and all or periodontitis-affected teeth/crowns (T/C) and sites were evaluated. The differences among natural teeth (NT), prosthetic crowns (PC), and abutments (AB) were compared by using Kruskal-Wallis tests followed by Dunn's post-hoc test. Results Gingival recession (REC) was greater in PC and AB groups than in the NT group before NSPT, while tooth mobility was also lower in the AB group. REC gain was lower in the AB group after NSPT, while mobility reduction was inferior in the PC and AB groups for all or periodontitis-affected T/C and sites. In periodontitis-affected T/C, IRs in probing pocket depth reduction and clinical attachment gain were lower in the PC group, and mobility reduction was lower in the AB group. The tendency in the posterior region is similar but was less pronounced than in the entire dentition. Conclusion The effectiveness of NSPT and the improvement of periodontal parameters are reduced when fixed prostheses present. MB reduction is inferior in AB teeth relative to NT.
