Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the relationship between femoral neck fractures and sarcopenia. METHODS This was a retrospective analysis of 92 patients with femoral neck fractures, from September 2017 to March 2020, who were classified into high ambulatory status (HG) and low ambulatory status (LG) groups. Ambulatory status was assessed before surgery, one week after surgery, at discharge, and during the final follow-up. To evaluate sarcopenia, muscle mass and fatty degeneration of the muscles were measured using preoperative CT. An axial slice of the superior end of the L5 vertebra was used to evaluate the paraspinal and psoas muscles, a slice of the superior end of the femoral head for the gluteus maximus muscle, and a slice of the inferior end of the sacroiliac joint for the gluteus medius muscle. The degeneration of the muscles was evaluated according to the Goutallier classification. RESULTS The cross-sectional area of the gluteus medius and paraspinal muscles was significantly correlated with ambulatory status before the injury, at discharge, and during the final follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Measurement of the gluteus medius and paraspinal muscles has the potential to evaluate sarcopenia and predict ambulatory status after femoral neck fractures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We aimed to explore the predictive value of retinol binding protein (RBP) for outcomes of hip fractures. METHODS Patients with hip fractures who underwent hip surgeries between December 2017 and February 2021 and met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. Propensity score matching was used to reduce the bias of co-factors and ROC curves based on matched populations were created to determine the optimal cutoff point of RBP. The outcomes between patients with low levels of RBP and high levels of RBP were compared. RESULTS Four hundred eighty patients were enrolled in this study and 69 patients died within one year. After a 1:1 PSM, patients with more than 1-year survival had significantly higher RBP (p = 0.013) than those who died within one year, as well as patients divided by 6-months survival (p = 0.012). Logistics analysis showed that low RBP may be an independent risk factor for 3-month survival, 6-month survival, 1-year survival, and 3-month free walking ability. CONCLUSION RBP may be associated with the survival and 3-month walking abilities of patients with hip fractures.

Abstract
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that causes inflammation in the brain and spinal cord, progressive degeneration of central nervous system tissue, damage to neuronal axons, and loss of function of central nervous system neurons. Experimental encephalomyelitis is an alternative animal model of MS that can simulate the symptoms of this disease. Cuprizone is one of the factors creating this model. Various researchers are testing the use of different cells to reduce the symptoms of cuprizone-demyelinated mice. The different injection methods explained in this article include intracerebral, intraperitoneal, intravenous, and intranasal. The intracerebral method, in contrast to the intranasal method, was widely employed by researchers. In each technique, the researchers try to inject a specific type of stem cell (SC) and monitor their efficiency. For monitoring SCs various labeling procedures are available, however, there is an upward trend in using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Two main barriers to using this method are high cost and complexity. In the current review, we try to make review cell therapy in the cuprizone model of MS.

Abstract
Surgical treatment in patients with fragility femoral neck fractures often leads to a longer length of hospital stay (LOS) and higher costs. Intensive rehabilitation is one of the choices to reduce LOS, but patient selection criteria are controversial. We intended to develop a clinical score to predict the risk of poor ambulation at discharge. This study was based on a retrospective cohort of patients diagnosed with fragility femoral neck fractures surgically managed from January 2010 to December 2019 at Chiang Mai University (CMU) Hospital. Pre-, intra-, and post-operative factors that affect rehabilitation training were candidate predictors. All patients were categorized into able or unable groups based on their ability to bear self-weight at discharge. Logistic regression was used for score derivation. Five hundred and nine patients were included in this study. Male sex, end-stage kidney disease (ESRD), cerebrovascular disease, psychiatric disorders, pre-fracture ambulation with gait aids, concomitant fracture, post-operative intensive care unit (ICU) admission or ventilator use, and urinary catheter use at second day post-operation were identified as the prognostic factors. The score showed an AuROC of 0.84 with good calibration. The score can be used for risk stratification on the second day post-operation. External validation is encouraged before clinical implementation.
