Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the refractive accuracy of intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation for biometric formulas in phacovitrectomy. METHODS This retrospective study included 357 eyes of 357 patients who underwent phacovitrectomy using four commonly available IOL power formulas: Hoffer Q (87 eyes), Holladay 1 (78 eyes), Holladay 2 (91 eyes), and SRK/T (101 eyes). The mean refractive error (ME) and the mean absolute refractive error (MAE) were calculated based on the predicted postoperative refraction error, and they were compared using analysis of variance test. Subjects were divided into high myopic eyes (axial length, ≥26 mm) and nonhigh myopic eyes (axial length, <26 mm). RESULTS The ME and the MAE after phacovitrectomy did not show a significant difference among the four IOL power formulas (p = 0.546 and p = 0.495, respectively). There was no significant statistical difference in formulas when the eyes were grouped into high myopia and nonhigh myopia (ME: p = 0.526 and p = 0.482, respectively; MAE: p = 0.715 and p = 0.627, respectively). The ME showed myopic shift in all formulas regardless of IOL formula used. The ME showed greater myopic shift in high myopia group than nonhigh myopia group in all formulas. CONCLUSIONS Our study did not find evidence for superiority of any formula in phacovitrectomy. However, in phacovitrectomy, possible myopic shift should be considered for IOL power calculation. Especially, in phacovitrecotmy in patients with high myopia, more myopic shift should be considered when selecting IOL.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate factors associated with refractive outcomes after phacovitrectomy for epiretinal membrane (ERM). METHODS Retrospective review of patients undergoing phacovitrectomy for ERM was done. The main outcome measure was predictive refraction error (PE), defined as observed refraction error - target refraction error, calculated by the SRK/T, Haigis, and SRK II formulae. PE was measured at postoperative 1, 3, and 6 months. Simple and multiple linear regression analysis were used to evaluate factors associated with PE. RESULTS A total of 53 eyes of 53 patients were included. The mean PEs at postoperative 1, 3, and 6 months were all negative, implying myopic shift in all patients regardless of the intraocular lens formula used. Haigis formula showed the least myopic shift among the three formulae (p = 0.001, Friedman test). There was no significant difference in PE depending on preoperative central macular thickness (CMT) in subgroup analysis. On stepwise multiple linear regression analysis, ERM etiology (β = 0.759, p = 0.004, SRK/T formula; β = 0.733, p = 0.008, Haigis formula; β = 0.933, p < 0.001, SRK II formula), preoperative anterior chamber depth (β = -0.662, p = 0.013, Haigis formula; β = -0.747, p = 0.003, SRK II formula), and decrease of CMT (β = -0.003, p = 0.025, SRK/T formula) were significantly associated with PE at postoperative 6 months. CONCLUSIONS Myopic shift in PE was observed after combined phacovitrectomy for epiretinal membrane. ERM etiology, preoperative anterior chamber depth, and decrease of CMT were significantly associated with PE at postoperative 6 months. There was no difference in PE after surgery between the two groups defined by CMT (≥500 and <500 μm).

Temporal Change in Anterior Chamber Depth after Combined Vitrectomy and Cataract Surgery Using Different Sizes of Intraocular Lens. J Clin Med 2022; 11:jcm11216430. Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the temporal changes in the anterior chamber depth (ACD) and refractive prediction error (RPE) of 6 and 7 mm diameter intraocular lenses (IOLs) after cataract surgery or phacovitrectomy with or without sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas. We reviewed 120 eyes (120 patients) and divided them into six groups: three groups of cataract surgery alone and phacovitrectomy (with or without SF6), which were further divided according to IOL diameter (6 and 7 mm) used. We examined the ACD and IOL position using a swept-source anterior segment optical coherence tomograph at 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month postoperatively; and the RPE at 1 month postoperatively. The ACD and IOL position at postoperative day 1 in the SF6 injection groups were significantly smaller than those in the other groups (p < 0.01). At 1 week, the ACD and IOL position of the 6 mm IOL SF6 injection group was smaller than those in the other groups (p < 0.01); thus, complications such as synechia or pupillary capture should be considered in the early postopera-tive period of phacovitrectomy with SF6, especially in the 6 mm IOL. The ACD, IOL position, and RPE at 1 month did not significantly differ among the groups, regardless of the IOL diameter or SF6. In the SF6 injection groups, the ACD and IOL position gradually deepened with less gas.

Abstract
To compare the agreement of ocular biometric parameters measured by IOLMaster 500 and IOLMaster 700. This is a prospective study. IOLMaster 500 and IOLMaster 700 were used to measure the axial eye length (AL), corneal flat keratometry (Kf), corneal steep keratometry (Ks), mean keratometry (Km), corneal astigmatism(CA), J0, J45, anterior chamber depth (ACD) and corneal horizontal diameter (white-to-white distance, WTW) of 518 eyes (392 patients) with cataracts. Patients were enrolled unilaterally. Subgroup analyses were done according to the AL and Km. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Bland–Altman analysis were used to evaluate the agreement. A total of 275 eyes were analyzed. The 95% confidence interval of ICC of the mean AL, Ks, Kf, Km, J0, and ACD values measured by the two instruments are indicative of excellent reliability (P < 0.001). The measurement results of WTW show good reliability (P < 0.001). The ICC of CA is of good reliability in CA < 0.5 D group (P = 0.000) and moderate reliability in the other two groups (P = 0.000). The WTW is the widest range among 95% consistency of the limit range measured by the two instruments. The results of IOLMaster 500 and IOLMaster 700 in measuring AL, keratometry, and ACD in cataract patients are of high agreement.

Abstract
The visibility of anterior hyaloid membrane (AHM) and Berger’s space in phakic eyes was investigated. In 624 eyes of 624 patients, the retrolental space was scanned with the deep-range anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT, CASIA2, Tomey). Subgroup analysis was conducted in 223 eyes undergoing cataract surgery. The logistic regression analysis using the backward-elimination method was performed to evaluate the influence of various factors on the visibility of AHM (dependent variable). Explanatory variables included age, gender, axial length, corneal power, corneal cylinder, and the Co III gradings. Intrarater repeatability for AHM visibility was excellent with the prevalence-adjusted bias-adjusted kappa (κ coefficient) of 0.90. AHM was observed in 43 eyes (6.9%). The patients with visible AHM (68.1 ± 8.8 years) were significantly older than those without visible AHM (52.6 ± 25.6 years) (p < 0.001). The logistic regression analysis in the cataract surgery subgroup revealed that axial length (p = 0.030) and corneal power (p = 0.043) were significantly associated with AHM visibility. The mean absolute refractive error from target was significantly larger in eyes with visible AHM (0.670 ± 0.384 D) than with invisible AHM (0.494 ± 0.412 D) (p = 0.037). The postoperative refractive prediction was less accurate in eyes with visible AHM, but no significant tendency existed in terms of myopic or hyperopic shifts.

Abstract
PURPOSE To compare the predictive refractive error (PRE) of intraocular lens (IOL) power between retinal vascular and vitreomacular interface diseases after phacovitrectomy. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent phacovitrectomy for various retinal diseases. Patients with retinal vascular diseases and vitreomacular interface diseases were included in group A and group B, respectively. Age- and gender-matched senile cataract patients with phacoemulsification were set as controls. The mean PRE and absolute value of refractive error (ARE) among different groups were compared. The associated risk factors with ARE were also analyzed in the univariate and multivariate analyses. RESULTS In total, 106 patients (Group A), 108 patients (Group B), and 110 patients as controls were included. The PRE in Group A (- 0.35 ± 0.83D) and Group B (- 0.53 ± 0.74D) were more myopic compared to the control group (- 0.11 ± 0.58D) (p < 0.05). The ARE in Group A (0.70 ± 0.57D) and Group B (0.75 ± 0.51D) were significantly higher compared to the control group (0.47 ± 0.35D) (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in the PRE and ARE values between the two study groups (p = 0.267 and 0.861, respectively). There were no significant differences of the PRE and ARE in the eyes with silicone oil tamponade (- 0.63 ± 0.75D, 0.81 ± 0.54D) and gas tamponade (- 0.42 ± 0.83D, 0.74 ± 0.56D) (p = 0.693 and 0.988, respectively). In the multivariate model, preoperative LogMAR visual acuity (β = 0.162, 95%CI = 0.113-0.211, p < 0.001), mean corneal curvature (β = 0.105, 95% CI = 0.074-0.135, p < 0.001), and age (β = 0.012, 95% CI = 0.005-0.019, p = 0.001) were all positively correlated with the ARE. CONCLUSIONS Postoperative myopic shift after phacovitrectomy may be comparable in retinal vascular diseases and vitreomacular interface diseases, no matter the gas or silicone oil tamponade. Older age, steeper corneal curvature, and worse preoperative visual acuity could produce more prediction errors.

Abstract
Purpose To investigate the effect of phacovitrectomy on the post-operative anterior chamber depth (ACD) and refractive outcomes, and to analyze the potential differences between vitreous filling with BSS, air and gas. Methods Patients who underwent phacovitrectomy were included in this study and invited for repeated post-operative examination including refraction and biometry at least 3 months after the surgery. Data retrieved included demographic information, indication for phacovitrectomy, surgical details, type of vitreous filling (BSS, air or gas), pre-operative and post-operative biometric data including K-readings, axial length (AL), and ACD, as well as spherical equivalent (SE) values of the target and final refraction. Results Forty-three eyes of 43 patients were included in this study, including 10 eyes filled with BSS, 18 with air and 15 with gas. The mean difference between the final measured spherical equivalent (SE) and the SE of the intended target refraction was 0.61±0.68 D (p = 0.019). Only 58.1% of eyes had a final SE within ±0.5D of the target refraction. Following surgery, AL remained unchanged, while mean pre-operative ACD increased significantly from 3.11±0.34 mm to 4.77±0.47 mm (p < 0.001). There was no difference in refractive error between the vitreous fillings and no correlation with AL or ACD. Conclusions Phacovitrectomy is associated with lower accuracy of post-operative refraction compared to cataract surgery. This may be attributed to a significant change in ACD, influencing the effective lens position of the IOL, and may require adjustment of the pre-operative calculations.
