Abstract
Living tissues are still far from being used as practical components in biohybrid robots because of limitations in life span, sensitivity to environmental factors, and stringent culture procedures. Here, we introduce fungal mycelia as an easy-to-use and robust living component in biohybrid robots. We constructed two biohybrid robots that use the electrophysiological activity of living mycelia to control their artificial actuators. The mycelia sense their environment and issue action potential-like spiking voltages as control signals to the motors and valves of the robots that we designed and built. The paper highlights two key innovations: first, a vibration- and electromagnetic interference-shielded mycelium electrical interface that allows for stable, long-term electrophysiological bioelectric recordings during untethered, mobile operation; second, a control architecture for robots inspired by neural central pattern generators, incorporating rhythmic patterns of positive and negative spikes from the living mycelia. We used these signals to control a walking soft robot as well as a wheeled hard one. We also demonstrated the use of mycelia to respond to environmental cues by using ultraviolet light stimulation to augment the robots' gaits.

Abstract
Hypsizygus marmoreus has become one of the most popular edible mushrooms due to its high nutritional and economic value. Previous researchers found that Serratia odorifera could promote the growth of H. marmoreus by producing and secreting some of its inducers. However, the specific mechanism of action was still unclear. In this study, we found that the exogenous addition of sterile fermentation filtrate (HZSO-1), quorum sensing (QS) signaling molecules, 3-oxo-C6-HSL, cyclo(Pro-Leu), and cyclo(Tyr-Leu) could significantly promote the growth of H. marmoreus, increase the number of clamp junctions, and the diameter of mycelium (p < 0.05). In addition, non-targeted metabolomic analysis revealed that 706 metabolites were detected in the treated group. Of these, 307 metabolites were significantly different (p < 0.05). Compared with the control, 54 and 86 metabolites were significantly increased and decreased in the HZSO-1 group, respectively (p < 0.05). We speculate that the sterile fermentation filtrate of S. odorifera could mediate the carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism of H. marmoreus by influencing the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) to increase the energy supply for the growth and development of the mycelium. The above results will further reveal the growth-promoting mechanism of S. odorifera on H. marmoreus.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas, is an economically important shellfish around the world. Great efforts have been made to improve its growth rate through genetic breeding. However, the candidate marker genes, pathways, and potential lncRNAs involved in oyster growth regulation remain largely unknown. To identify genes, lncRNAs, and pathways involved in growth regulation, C. gigas spat was cultured at a low temperature (15 ℃) to yield a growth-inhibited model, which was used to conduct comparative transcriptome analysis with spat cultured at normal temperature (25 ℃). RESULTS In total, 8627 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 1072 differentially expressed lncRNAs (DELs) were identified between the normal-growth oysters (cultured at 25 ℃, hereinafter referred to as NG) and slow-growth oysters (cultured at 15 ℃, hereinafter referred to as SG). Functional enrichment analysis showed that these DEGs were mostly enriched in the AMPK signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, insulin signaling pathway, autophagy, apoptosis, calcium signaling pathway, and endocytosis process. LncRNAs analysis identified 265 cis-acting pairs and 618 trans-acting pairs that might participate in oyster growth regulation. The expression levels of LNC_001270, LNC_003322, LNC_011563, LNC_006260, and LNC_012905 were inducible to the culture temperature and food abundance. These lncRNAs were located at the antisense, upstream, or downstream of the SREBP1/p62, CDC42, CaM, FAS, and PIK3CA genes, respectively. Furthermore, the expression of the trans-acting lncRNAs, including XR_9000022.2, LNC_008019, LNC_015817, LNC_000838, LNC_00839, LNC_011859, LNC_007294, LNC_006429, XR_002198885.1, and XR_902224.2 was also significantly associated with the expression of genes enriched in AMPK signaling pathway, insulin signaling pathway, autophagy, apoptosis, calcium signaling pathway, and endocytosis process. CONCLUSIONS In this study, we identified the critical growth-related genes and lncRNAs that could be utilized as candidate markers to illustrate the molecular mechanisms underlying the growth regulation of Pacific oysters.

Abstract
Pleurotus giganteus is a commercially cultivated high-temperature mushroom. Investigating the molecular mechanism of fruiting body development will help us to better understand the regulation of substrates and energy in this process. However, little information has been reported on the development and nutrients of the P. giganteus fruiting body. In the present study, P. giganteus is cultivated in a climate chamber, and comparative transcriptome, proteome, and nutritional analysis of P. giganteus fruiting bodies were performed. Our results revealed that Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases and hydrophobin proteins play important roles during the differentiation in the elongation stage. Later, carbon metabolism dominate the fruiting body metabolism and genes related to the carbohydrate metabolic process, glycolytic process, and gluconeogenesis were up-regulated in the mature fruiting bodies. The up-regulation of carbohydrate substrates utilization CAZymes genes and inconsistent protein expression in pileus indicated a reverse transportation of mRNA from the fruiting body to vegetative mycelia. In addition, protein concentration in the pileus is higher than that in the stem, while the stem is the major nitrogen metabolic and amino acid synthetic location. The integrated transcriptomic, proteomic, and nutritional analysis indicated a two-way transportation of substrates and mRNAs in P. giganteus. Stem synthesizes amino acids and transported them to pileus with reducing sugars, while pileus induces the expression of substrate degradation mRNA according to the needs of growth and development and transports them in the other direction.
