Knowledge risk management in banks - An area for improving organizational performance

Research on the topic of knowledge risks and their management in organizations is still very scarce, this also applies to empirical studies. However, to avoid the uncritical acceptance of empirical results, replication studies play a crucial role in science. Therefore, this study represents a replication study of the type of empirical generalization of the paper by Durst et al. (2019) which studied knowledge risk management (KRM) in private and public organizations. Considering the KRM and performance assumptions underlying the original study and the methodology used, the results at that time are reviewed using new data from 103 Italian cooperative banks. This paper contributes to the study of risks related to knowledge and its theoretical development by providing new empirical evidence from a different cultural, geographical and institutional context. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of replication studies for knowledge accumulation and theory development in management science.

The Role of E-Commerce Adoption in Enhancing Regulatory Compliance in Information Systems of Foreign Investment Management in Malaysia - A Moderating Effect of Innovation Management

Over the years, the rise of e-commerce has brought about significant changes in the way businesses operate globally which also includes how foreign investment is managed. As more companies move on-line and engage in move-border transactions, foreign investment management has turned out to be greater complicated and requires a distinctive set of techniques. This study aims to examine the mediating role of IT capabilities and information security measures, as well as the moderating role of innovation management in this relationship. This study uses a cross-sectional research design. Data were collected from 230 Malaysian foreign investment management firms using a structured questionnaire. The measurement scales used were validated and adopted from previous studies. SPSS was used to analyze the data and test the hypothesized relationships. The findings of the study showed that e-commerce adoption has a significant and positive impact on regulatory compliance. Furthermore, this relationship is significantly mediated by IT capabilities and information security measures and moderated by innovation management. This study provides valuable insights into the effects of e-commerce adoption on regulatory compliance in the context of foreign investment management in Malaysia. The findings underscore the importance of developing strong IT capabilities and implementing strong information security measures to enhance regulatory compliance. Additionally, the study emphasizes the need for innovative management practices to effectively leverage e-commerce adoption for regulatory compliance.

How high-involvement HRM practices motivate knowledge sharing and innovation: the role of market turbulence

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of high-involvement human resource management (HRM) practices on innovation capabilities via the mediating role of knowledge sharing (KS) behaviors. This paper also investigates the potential moderating role of market turbulence in fostering the influence of KS behaviors on two forms of innovation capability, namely exploitative and exploratory innovation.

Design/methodology/approach

Analysis of moment structures and structural equation modeling are applied to examine the correlation among the latent constructs based on the survey data collected from 125 manufacturing and service firms.

Findings

The findings of this study support the mediating role of KS behaviors in the relationship between high-involvement HRM practices and aspects of innovation capability. It highlights the important role of market turbulence in strengthening the influence of KS on exploitative and exploratory innovation.

Research limitations/implications

Future research should investigate the impact of high-involvement HRM practices on innovation capability under the moderating effects of organizational variables, such as perceived organizational support, to bring better understanding on a new mechanism to pursuit innovation.

Originality/value

The paper significantly contributes to increasing knowledge and insights into the correlation between high-involvement HRM practices and specific forms of innovation. The understanding on the mediating role of KS behaviors and the moderating role of market turbulence contribute to advancing the body of knowledge of HRM and innovation theory.

An Investigation into the Effect of Knowledge Management on Employee Retention in the Telecom Sector

Employees in the telecom sector are knowledge workers and, thus, managers, HR professionals, and policymakers in the industry need to retain them through knowledge management policies. It is against this premise that this study investigated the effect of knowledge management on employee retention in the telecom sector. Research design employed in this study is a cross-sectional survey with an accessible population of thirty telecom companies in the southeastern region of Nigeria using a simple random sampling technique. The sample size was determined with the Krejcie and Morgan sample size determination table. A questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. Respondents’ profiles were analysed with frequency distribution while the formulated hypotheses were analysed with linear regression. The study found that knowledge management dimensions have a significant effect on the measures of employee retention. The study concludes that knowledge management measured in terms of knowledge acquisition, knowledge storage, and knowledge sharing predicted employee retention that is measured by supervisor support, coworkers support, and flexible working arrangements. One of the implications of this study is that managers of telecom companies should liaise with their board of directors to make funds available that would be used to train employees to acquire relevant knowledge that is needed in the telecom industry.
