Optimisation Methodology for Skimmer Device Selection for Removal of the Marine Oil Pollution

This paper emphasised the importance of proper handling and selection of specialised skimmer equipment for accidental pollution with oils. The research was motivated by the lack of similar papers that offer an extensive and recent literature analysis related to the use of skimmers, with the ultimate aim to present the methodology for proper selection of appropriate pollution equipment. Knowledge on the equipment characteristics such as capacity, selectivity, speed, and pump power of the skimmer is essential for efficient and fast collection of spills. The study aimed to calculate the oil collection rate of an individual skimmer device with different pumps. The classification of skimmers, pumps, and collecting tanks was made according to their main features. The results showed the correlation between pump capacity and the skimmers. Due to the complexity of mechanical equipment and various devices, it was crucial to identify and connect the skimmer with the proper pump. For these reasons, the authors proposed a model which determines the optimal combination for thirteen skimmers and eleven pumps. The model can help shorten the time of collecting oil from the sea surface and provide a more efficient and smoother response in the events of accidental marine pollution.

A Mathematical Modeling and Analysis Method for the Kinematics of a Maglev Train

In recent years, more and more countries are paying attention to maglev transportation because of its outstanding advantages. However, because the structure of a maglev train is more complex than a wheel-rail train, there is no systematic theory method for kinematic modeling of a maglev vehicle. Based on the screw theory and the product of exponentials (PoE) formula in the field of open-chain robotics, this paper presents a method of kinematic mathematical modeling and analysis for a maglev train and track. By analyzing the characteristics of the closed chain running mechanism of a maglev train, the kinematic mathematical model of a maglev train and track is established, and the motion state of each moving part of the vehicle on a typical track is calculated and analyzed. At last, compared with the results of experiment, the correctness of modeling method proposed in this paper is verified.

Study of the Self-Locking Characteristics of the Swing Scraper of an Elliptical Rotor Scraper Pump

This paper proposes an Elliptical Rotor Scraper Pump (ERSP) to address traditional displacement pump defects, such as complex structures, poor self-sealing, low volume utilization, and considerable noise, etc. The ERSP utilizes a swing scraper instead of one rotor in a conventional multirotor pump or reciprocating moving vanes in a traditional vane pump and can achieve high-pressure output through pressure self-sealing. The swing scraper can divide the working chamber into high- and low-pressure rooms. Due to the small swing amplitude of the scraper, the ERSP has low operating noise. The ERSP rotor with an elliptical shape can significantly improve pump volume utilization, thus, forming a kind of fluid pump without a distribution valve, high pressure, and compact structure, and can work efficiently at high speed. This paper establishes a three-dimensional model and mathematical model for the ERSP, then develops the mathematical relationship between the scraper rotation angle and rotor rotation angle and carries out the simulation analysis based on MSC ADAMS. Then, the self-locking characteristics of the ERSP are studied through a force analysis of the swing scraper. Finally, our research group designs and produces a prototype based on existing research and verifies the superiority of the ERSP and the correctness of the non-self-locking condition through experiments. The results in this paper provide a reference for research on the self-locking characteristics of fluid rotor pumps and engineering optimization, which has great significance to the development of fluid power machinery.

Power Parametric Optimization of an Electro-Hydraulic Integrated Drive System for Power-Carrying Vehicles Based on the Taguchi Method

Focused on the troubles and defects introduced by the traditional single form of electric vehicle transmission, this paper proposes an electro-hydraulic power coupled electric vehicle based on the working principle of an electro-hydraulic power integrated drive system for light-duty cargo vehicles. The integration of the planetary row into the drive system allows the interconversion of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic energy. By describing the system structure and composition, several working conditions during automobile driving are proposed, and the working principle of every circumstance is introduced. Simultaneously, the article determines the preliminary optimal ratio with the battery’s state of charge (SOC) as the constraint. Then, the orthogonal test matrix of electro-hydraulic ratios and speed thresholds for each operating condition is established according to Taguchi’s method. The impact of each optimized parameter on the motor torque and hydraulic torque as well as the SOC and the proportion of the effect is evaluated by the simulation to obtain the optimal solution. The simulation consequences show that the motor torque and hydraulic torque are reduced, and thus, the vehicle’s acceleration performance and energy recovery efficiency are improved.
