Abstract
Dry socket or alveolar osteitis is a common postoperative complication following tooth extraction, characterized by severe pain due to the disintegration of the blood clot within the socket. Various factors contribute to its development, such as traumatic extraction, patient age and sex, smoking, and anesthetic use. To mitigate this condition, socket preservation techniques, including the use of bone substitute materials, have been employed. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) has emerged as a promising biomaterial, enhancing healing and reducing the incidence of dry socket. Materials and Methods: This systematic review, adhering to the PRISMA guidelines and registered with PROSPERO (ID: CRD 578018), examines the efficacy of PRF in managing dry socket by analyzing studies from PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science published between January 2013 and May 2024. Boolean keywords have been used in the search strategy: ("Treatment") AND ("Dry Socket") AND ("Platelet Rich Fibrin" OR "PRF"). A total of 738 publications were found using the electronic database search. After the screening phase, 13 records were chosen for qualitative analysis. The results from multiple clinical trials and comparative studies indicate that PRF significantly reduces postoperative pain, expedites healing, and lowers the incidence of Alveolar Osteitis. Despite promising results, further large-scale, randomized studies are needed to validate PRF as a standard treatment for dry socket.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES The tongue harbors about two-thirds of the microorganisms present in the mouth; the stable bacterial population consists mainly of aerobic and facultative anaerobic streptococci. These bacterial colonies, found more frequently on the tongue than on the outside of the hard part of the dental enamel in children younger than 18 months, suggest that the tongue is a potential bacterial reservoir. The aim of this review is to examine the scientific literature to clarify whether the mechanical removal of bacterial biofilm on the tongue can have a positive effect on caries prevention, with the reduction in colony-forming unit (CFU) of salivary streptococcus and the whole-mouth plaque index (FMPS). METHODS An open literature search was conducted by using PubMed (MEDLINE), Cochrane Library and Google Scholar. The most studied age range was 9 to 12 years, with groups of children with no caries and groups with a minimum number of two teeth that were reconstructed, decayed and/or missing (DMFS/dmfs > 2) who experienced different tongue hygiene methods for the first time. RESULTS Four randomized trials met the search criteria and were included in this review. CONCLUSIONS The results obtained suggest that specific tongue hygiene protocols, combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle, could be considered the gold standard to enable more effective primary prevention and improve the health of pediatric patients. This review improves the understanding of the impact of tongue hygiene in controlling the bacteria responsible for the onset of carious disease and its systemic correlates; however, further research with more data is needed to further confirm the findings of this research.

Abstract
Acne vulgaris is a common skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide. While the exact cause of acne is not fully understood, it is believed to be influenced by various factors such as the skin microbiome, host immunity, hormones, genetics, and possibly diet. There are several treatment options for acne, including antibiotics and vitamin A derivatives (retinoids). However, these treatments can have side effects, such as dryness, redness, and peeling of the skin. The relationship between diet and acne remains somewhat controversial. Studies have found that Western societies have a higher incidence of acne than non-Western societies, which is believed to be due to dietary differences. Several experiments were conducted to target the skin microbiome and treat acne with the hope of using probiotics orally or topically to regulate the immune response and reduce inflammation in acne. In addition, studies have shown that a plant-based diet can benefit individuals with acne. Avoiding dairy consumption is one of the most effective dietary changes for reducing acne. As part of our investigation, we conducted a review to determine the effect of probiotics and vegetarian diets on acne.

Abstract
Background Acne vulgaris (AV) is a common inflammatory disorder involving the pilosebaceous unit. The study aimed to explore the plasma lipidome signatures and identify specific lipid biomarkers in moderate-to-severe acne patients. Patients and Methods Untargeted plasma lipidomic analysis using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography system (UHPLC) coupled to q-extraction plus was employed on 30 moderate-to-severe acne patients aged between 16-25 years and 30 healthy controls. Multivariate data analyses were used to identify the distinguishing lipid metabolites. Results All 1449 species of 37 lipid subclasses were identified from the MS data. There were apparent differences in plasma lipid profiles between acne groups and control groups. With variable influence on projection (VIP) > 1.0 and P-value < 0.05, 26 significantly different lipid metabolites were identified. These metabolites consisted mainly of glycerophospholipids (GPs), sphingolipids (SPs), and glycerolipids (GLs). Combining with AUC≥0.800 as the elected criteria, we obtained five differential lipids with good diagnostic performance for acne severity, including 2 sphingomyelins (SM), 1 phosphatidylglycerol (PG), 1 trihexosylceramide (Hex3Cer), and 1 Phosphatidylcholine (PC). Among them, PG (44:0) had the highest AUC values. Conclusion Our study revealed the plasma lipidome signature of patients with moderate-to-severe acne. The results will provide a novel light into the perturbed lipid metabolism leading to the development of acne.
