Abstract
A new [Dy3Bi8O6Cl3(saph)9] (1) Werner-type cluster has been prepared, which is the first DyIII/BiIII polynuclear compound with no metal-metal bond and one of the very few LnIII-BiIII (Ln = lanthanide) heterometallic complexes reported to date. The molecular compound 1 has been deliberately transformed to its 1-D analogue [Dy3Bi8O6(N3)3(saph)9]n (2) via the replacement of the terminal Cl- ions by end-to-end bridging N3- groups. The overall metallic skeleton of 1 (and 2) can be described as consisting of a diamagnetic {Bi8} unit with an elongated trigonal bipyramidal topology, surrounded by a magnetic {Dy3} equilateral triangle, which does not contain μ3-oxo/hydroxo/alkoxo groups. Detailed magnetic studies in a microcrystalline sample and a single crystal of 1 revealed a rare two-step hysteresis loop at various low temperatures and field-sweep rates, with the steps located at zero and ±0.26 T fields providing a measure of intermolecular interactions. Extended ab initio calculations unravel the dominant pathways of magnetization relaxation, as well as the type and magnitude of the magnetic exchange interactions between the DyIII centers and the orientation of their anisotropy axes, thus rendering the {Dy3} unit of 1 as a rare triangle among its congeners with a nontoroidal magnetic state. The combined results demonstrate the potential of heterometallic lanthanide/post-transition metal chemistry to provide molecule-based materials with unprecedented structures and compelling methods to rationalize the obtained magnetic properties.

Abstract
A new hydrazone Schiff base bridging ligand (H2LSchiff (E)-N'-((1-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)methylene)pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide) and L/D-proline were used to construct a pair of homochiral Dy6 cluster complexes, [Dy6(CO3)(L-Pro)6(LSchiff)4(HLSchiff)2]·5DMA·2H2O (L-1, L-HPro = L-proline; DMA = N,N-dimethylacetamide) and [Dy6(CO3)(D-Pro)6(LSchiff)4(HLSchiff)2]·5DMA·2H2O (D-1, D-HPro = D-proline), which show a novel triangular Dy6 topology. Notably, the fixation of CO2 in the air formed a carbonato central bridge, playing a key role in assembling L-1/D-1. Magnetic measurements revealed that L-1/D-1 displays intramolecular ferromagnetic coupling and magnetic relaxation behaviours. Furthermore, L-1/D-1 shows a distinct magneto-optical Faraday effect and has a second harmonic generation (SHG) response (1.0 × KDP) at room temperature. The results show that the immobilization of CO2 provides a novel pathway for homochiral multifunctional 4f cluster complexes.

Abstract
Heptanuclear {GdIII7} (complex 1) and tetradecanuclear {GdIII14} (complex 2) were synthesized using the rhodamine 6G ligand HL (rhodamine 6G salicylaldehyde hydrazone) and characterized. Complex 1 has a rare disc-shaped structure, where the central Gd ion is connected to the six peripheral GdIII ions via CH3O-/μ3-OH- bridges. Complex 2 has an unexpected three-layer double sandwich structure with a rare μ6-O2- ion in the center of the cluster. Magnetic studies revealed that complex 1 exhibits a magnetic entropy change of 17.4 J kg-1 K-1 at 3 K and 5 T. On the other hand, complex 2 shows a higher magnetic entropy change of 22.3 J kg-1 K-1 at 2 K and 5 T.

Abstract
The first use of the Schiff base chelate N-naphthalidene-o-aminophenol (naphH2 ) in Co/Ln chemistry has afforded a family of isostructural [CoIII 2 LnIII (OMe)2 (naph)2 (O2 CMe)3 (MeOH)2 ] (Ln=Tb, Dy and Er) complexes, revealing a rare {CoIII 2 Ln(μ3 -OMe)}8+ triangular core composed of two diamagnetic CoIII ions and a 4f-ion with slightly distorted square antiprismatic geometry. Alternating current (ac) magnetic susceptibility studies revealed that {Co2 Dy}, and its magnetic diluted analogue {Co2 Dy0.05 Y0.95 }, behave as mononuclear single-molecule magnets (SMMs) with similar energy barriers for the magnetization reversal, Ueff , of ~85-90 K. SMM properties were also detected for {Co2 Er}, with the compound exhibiting a Ueff of 18.7 K under an applied magnetic field of 800 Oe. To interpret the experimental magnetic results, ab initio CASSCF/RASSI-SO and DFT calculations were performed as a means of exploring the single-ion characteristics of LnIII ions and comprehend the role of the diamagnetic CoIII ions in the magnetization relaxation of the three heterometallic compounds.
