Abstract
Antibiotic resistance is increasingly seen as a future concern, but antibiotics are still commonly used in animals, leading to their accumulation in humans through the food chain and posing health risks. The development of nanomaterials has opened up possibilities for creating new sensing strategies to detect antibiotic residues, resulting in the emergence of innovative nanobiosensors with different benefits like rapidity, simplicity, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and precision. Therefore, this comprehensive review provides pertinent and current insights into nanomaterials-based electrochemical/optical sensors for the detection of antibitic residues (ANBr) across milk and dairy products. Here, we first discuss the commonly used ANBs in real products, the significance of ANBr, and also their binding/biological properties. Then, we provide an overview of the role of using different nanomaterials on the development of advanced nanobiosensors like fluorescence-based, colorimetric, surface-enhanced Raman scattering, surface plasmon resonance, and several important electrochemical nanobiosensors relying on different kinds of electrodes. The enhancement of ANB electrochemical behavior for detection is also outlined, along with a concise overview of the utilization of (bio)recognition units. Ultimately, this paper offers a perspective on the future concepts of this research field and commercialized nanomaterial-based sensors to help upgrade the sensing techniques for ANBr in dairy products.

Abstract
Direct pen writing offers versatile opportunities for development of low-cost tests for point-of-care applications. In this work a lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) test was fabricated by hand "writing" immunoprobes onto hand-cut nitrocellulose strips with a commercial fountain pen. The qualitative capabilities of the test were extended by addition of a Raman reporter and consequent design and fabrication of a Surface Enhanced Resonant Raman Scattering (SERRS)-LFIA test. As proof-of-concept, dual detection of penicillin G was achieved in milk with a visual LOD of 20 ppm and a dynamic range of 0.03-97.5 ppm. Evaluation against equivalent tests performed with conventionally prepared LFIA strips showed comparable results, thus demonstrating the validity of the test. These results demonstrate the potential for further decrease in cost and consequent broader use of LFIA tests in remote regions and resource-limited environments.

Abstract
Bovine casein was selected as a model protein to evaluate the impact of food matrix on the thermal degradation of antibiotics. Fluorescence quenching and isothermal titration calorimetry experiments revealed that chlortetracycline (CTC) could spontaneously bind to casein via hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions. The amino acid residues forming the binding pocket were further identified using molecular docking, while saturation transfer difference NMR deciphered that the binding of CTC engages its -N(CH3)2 group. Moreover, the degradation behavior of free CTC versus that bound in casein-CTC complex was compared during thermal treatment. Compared with free CTC, a lower first-order rate constant was observed in the presence of casein. Removal of casein shortened the half-life of CTC by at least 48.1% at low concentrations. Elucidating that the formation of protein-antibiotic complexes alters the amenability of antibiotics to degradative reactions, which could help eliminate residual antibiotics and guarantee the safety of dairy products.

Abstract
Over the past few years, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) has gained practical significance in antimicrobial precision therapy. Yet two categories of mainstream TDM techniques (chromatographic analysis and immunoassays) that are widely adopted nowadays retain certain inherent limitations. The use of biosensors, an innovative strategy for rapid evaluation of antimicrobial concentrations in biological samples, enables the implementation of point-of-care testing (POCT) and continuous monitoring, which may circumvent the constraints of conventional TDM and provide strong technological support for individualized antimicrobial treatment. This comprehensive review summarizes the investigations that have harnessed biosensors to detect antimicrobial drugs in biological matrices, provides insights into the performance and characteristics of each sensing form, and explores the feasibility of translating them into clinical practice. Furthermore, the future trends and obstacles to achieving POCT and continuous monitoring are discussed. More efforts are necessary to address the four key 'appropriateness' challenges to deploy biosensors in clinical practice, paving the way for personalized antimicrobial stewardship.

Abstract
The current COVID-19 pandemic has increased the demand for pathogen detection methods that combine low detection limits with rapid results. Despite the significant progress in methods and devices for nucleic acid amplification, immunochemical methods are still preferred for mass testing without specialized laboratories and highly qualified personnel. The most widely used immunoassays are microplate enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) with photometric detection and lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) with visual results assessment. However, the disadvantage of ELISA is its considerable duration, and that of LFIA is its low sensitivity. In this study, the modified LFIA of a specific antigen of the causative agent of COVID-19, spike receptor-binding domain, was developed and characterized. This modified LFIA includes the use of gold nanoparticles with immobilized antibodies and 4-mercaptobenzoic acid as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) nanotag and registration of the nanotag binding by SERS spectrometry. To enhance the sensitivity of LFIA-SERS analysis, we determined the optimal compositions of SERS nanotags and membranes used in LFIA. For benchmark comparison, ELISA and conventional colorimetric LFIA were used with the same immune reagents. The proposed method combines a low detection limit of 0.1 ng/mL (at 0.4 ng/mL for ELISA and 1 ng/mL for qualitative LFIA) with a short assay time equal to 20 min (at 3.5 h for ELISA and 15 min for LFIA). The results obtained demonstrate the promise of using the SERS effects in membrane immuno-analytical systems.

Abstract
Ampicillin and nitrofurantoin, as broad-spectrum antibiotics, are widely used in the prevention of animal diseases and to ensure livestock growth. Large amounts of antibiotic residues exist in animal-derived foods, affecting food quality and safety, causing adverse side effects, such as allergic and toxic reactions, and increasing bacterial resistance. A sensitive surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor is provided to detect low-concentration antibiotics (ampicillin and nitrofurantoin). The sensor is based on an Au nanoparticles/graphene oxide hybrid nanocomposite prepared by an in situ reduction method. The detection limits of ampicillin and nitrofurantoin are as low as 0.01 ng mL-1 and 5 ng mL-1, respectively. The relative spectral intensity of the nitrofurantoin characteristic peak has a good linear relationship with the concentration of nitrofurantoin in the range of 500 ng mL-1 and 5 ng mL-1 (R2 = 0.99235). The structure also allows multi-sample measurement for a variety of antibiotics at the same time. The SERS sensor is easy to prepare, with high uniformity and reproducibility, and the sample does not require complex pretreatment and preparation. Sensitive and quantitative detection of antibiotics by the SERS sensor is of great interest in the fields of health care, food preparation, and environmental sampling.

Abstract
Antibiotics, nowadays, are not only used for the treatment of human diseases but also used in animal and poultry farming to increase production. Overuse of antibiotics leads to their circulation in the food chain due to unmanaged discharge. These circulating antibiotics and their residues are a major cause of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), so comprehensive and multifaceted measures aligning with the One Health approach are crucial to curb the emergence and dissemination of antibiotic resistance through the food chain. Different chromatographic techniques and capillary electrophoresis (CE) are being widely used for the separation and detection of antibiotics and their residues from food samples. However, the matrix present in food samples interferes with the proper detection of the antibiotics, which are present in trace concentrations. This review is focused on the scientific literature published in the last decade devoted to the detection of antibiotics in food products. Various extraction methods are employed for the enrichment of antibiotics from a wide variety of food samples; however, solid-phase extraction (SPE) techniques are often used for the extraction of antibiotics from food products and biological samples. In addition, this review has scrutinized how changing instrumental composition, organization, and working parameters in the chromatography and CE can greatly impact the identification and quantification of antibiotic residues. This review also summarized recent advancements in other detection methods such as immunological assays, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)-based assays, and biosensors which have emerged as rapid, sensitive, and selective tools for accurate detection and quantification of traces of antibiotics.

Abstract
A low cost and effective indirect competitive method is reported to detect five EDCs, 17-beta-estradiol (E2), estriol (E3), bisphenol A (BPA), diethylstilbestrol (DES), and nonylphenol (NP) simultaneously, based on suspension array technology (SAT). Five kinds of complete antigens (E2-BSA, E3-BSA, BPA-BSA, DES-BPA, NP-BSA) were coupled to different encoding microspheres using purpose-made solutions in our laboratory instead of commercially available amino coupling kits; the method was further optimized for determination and reducing the cost. Encoding and signaling fluorescence of the particles are determined at 635/532 nm emission wavelengths. High-throughput curves of five EDCs were draw and the limit of detection (LOD) were between 0.0010 ng mL-1 ~ 0.0070 ng mL-1. Compared with traditional ELISA methods, the SAT exhibited better specificity and sensitivity. Experiments using spiked milk and tap water samples were also carried out, and the recovery was between 85 and 110%; the results also confirmed good repeatability and reproducibility. It illustrated great potential of the present strategy in the detection of EDCs in actual samples.

Abstract
Food safety become a hot issue currently with globalization of food trade and food supply chains. Chemical pollution, microbial contamination and adulteration in food have attracted more attention worldwide. Contamination with antibiotics, estrogens and heavy metals in water environment and soil environment have also turn into an enormous threat to food safety. Traditional small-scale, long-term detection technologies have been unable to meet the current needs. In the monitoring process, rapid, convenient, accurate analysis and detection technologies have become the future development trend. We critically synthesizing the current knowledge of various rapid detection technology, and briefly touched upon the problem which still exist in research process. The review showed that the application of novel materials promotes the development of rapid detection technology, high-throughput and portability would be popular study directions in the future. Of course, the ultimate aim of the research is how to industrialization these technologies and apply to the market.
