Abstract
We report the stereoselective total synthesis of rhodocoranes I and J in 10 steps and 16.4% overall yield from (S)-limonene. The synthesis was accomplished through the convergent assembly of a highly substituted chiral cyclopentanone and a lithiated furanyl silyl ketene acetal. The requisite cyclopentanone framework was strategically constructed from the chiral pool, (S)-limonene, through a sequence of steps that included a hydroboration/oxidation, ozonolysis, aldol condensation, reduction, and palladium-catalyzed diastereoselective allylic transposition. This study provides a general approach to the synthesis of the rhodocorane family, known for their antibacterial, antifungal, and cytotoxic properties.

Abstract
The first enantioselective vinylogous Mannich reaction is developed using 2-methoxyfuran under chiral spirophosphoric acid catalysis. The strategy involves 4-isoxazoline derivatives as cyclic ketimine surrogates and provides γ-butenolide scaffolds (up to 97% ee and >20:1 dr). The mechanistic investigations suggest that an in situ generated water molecule plays a crucial role in delivering γ-butenolide, while the use of molecular sieves delivers aza-Friedel-Crafts products. The synthetic utility of γ-butenolide is shown toward obtaining piperidone skeleton via a lactone-lactam rearrangement.

Abstract
Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) offer a highly useful and valuable strategy that can fulfill an important role in synthesizing complex polysubstituted compounds, by simplifying otherwise long sequences and increasing their efficiency. The total synthesis of selected natural products employing three-component reactions as their common strategic MCR approach, is reviewed on a case-by-case basis with selected targets conquered during the last 15 years. The revision includes detailed descriptions of the selected successful sequences; relevant information on the isolation, and bioactivity of the different natural targets is also briefly provided.

Abstract
The 1,3-dienyl-5-alkyl-6-oxy motif is widely found in various types of bioactive natural products. However, present synthesis is mainly non-asymmetric which relied upon different olefination or transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions using enantioenriched precursors. Herein, based upon a newly developed enantioselective α-alkylation of conjugated polyenoic acids, a variety of 1,3-dienyl-5-alkyl-6-oxy motif (with E-configured internal olefin) was generated as the corresponding α-adducts in a highly enantioselective and diastereoselective manner. Utilizing 1,3-dienyl-5-alkyl-6-oxy motif as key intermediates, we further demonstrated their synthetic potential by expedient total syntheses of three types of natural products (glutarimide antibiotics, α-pyrone polyketides and Lupin alkaloids) within 4-7 steps.

Abstract
Despite the broad interest in organic compounds possessing a γ-aminocarbonyl motif, limited strategies for their synthesis have been reported. Herein, we describe a mild and efficient method for the site-selective amidation of unsaturated enones with electrophilic N-centered radicals as a key intermediate. The photocatalytic vinylogous reaction of dienolates with N-amino pyridinium salts affords γ-amido carbonyl compounds. This process is high-yielding, scalable, and tolerates a broad range of unsaturated α,β-unsaturated carbonyls, including biologically relevant compounds, as starting materials.

Abstract
An organocatalyzed asymmetric synthesis of fused butyrolactones via formal [2 + 2 + 2] annulation between γ-butenolides, methylene indolinones, and nitroolefins in a one-pot process has been established. Products containing six contiguous stereocenters could be obtained in good yields (up to 95%) with excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee) catalyzed by a l-tert-leucine-derived bifunctional thiourea catalyst.
