Abstract
Photocatalysis, as a sustainable and environmentally friendly green technology, has garnered widespread recognition and application across various fields. Especially its potential in environmental disinfection has been highly valued by researchers. This study commences with foundational research on photocatalytic disinfection technology and provides a comprehensive overview of its current developmental status. It elucidates the complexity of the interface reaction mechanism between photocatalysts and microorganisms, providing valuable insights from the perspectives of materials and microorganisms. This study reviews the latest design and modification strategies (Build heterojunction, defect engineering, and heteroatom doping) for photocatalysts in environmental disinfection. Moreover, this study investigates the research focuses and links in constructing photocatalytic disinfection systems, including photochemical reactors, light sources, and material immobilization technologies. It studies the complex challenges and influencing factors generated by different environmental media during the disinfection process. Simultaneously, a comprehensive review extensively covers the research status of photocatalytic disinfection concerning bacteria, fungi, and viruses. It reveals the observable efficiency differences caused by the microstructure of microorganisms during photocatalytic reactions. Based on these influencing factors, the economy and effectiveness of photocatalytic disinfection systems are analyzed and discussed. Finally, this study summarizes the current application status of photocatalytic disinfection products. The challenges faced by the synthesis and application of future photocatalysts are proposed, and the future development in this field is discussed. The potential for research and innovation has been further emphasized, with the core on improving efficiency, reducing costs, and strengthening the practical application of photocatalysis in environmental disinfection.

Abstract
Artificial packaging materials, such as plastic, can cause significant environmental problems. Thus, the use of polysaccharide-based biodegradable polymers (cellulose, starch, and alginate) has the potential in the field of environmental sustainability, reprocessing, or protection of the environment. Morphological and structural alterations caused by material degradation have a substantial impact on polymer material characteristics. To avoid degradation during storage, it is critical to evaluate and comprehend the structure, characteristics, and behavior of modern bio-based materials for potential food packaging applications. Hence, this review focused on the various types of polysaccharide-based biodegradable polymers (cellulose, starch, and alginate), their properties, and their commercial potential for food packaging applications. In addition, we overviewed the recent development of polysaccharide-based biodegradable polymer (cellulose, starch, and alginate) packaging for food products. The review concluded that the membrane and chromatographics are widely used in production of cellulose, starch, and alginate-based biodegradable polymers. Also, nanotechnology-based food packaging is widely used to improve the properties of cellulose, starch, and alginate biodegradable polymers and the incorporation of active agents to enhance the shelf life of food products. Overall, the review highlighted the potential of cellulose, starch, and alginate biodegradable polymers in the food packaging industry and the need for potential research and development to improve their properties and commercial viability.

Abstract
Numerous studies in recent years have questioned the safety of oral exposure to titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs). TiO2 NPs are not only likely to accumulate in the gastrointestinal tract, but they are also found to penetrate the body circulation and reach distant organs. The liver, which is considered to be a target organ for nanoparticles, is of particular concern. TiO2 NPs accumulate in the liver and cause oxidative stress and inflammatory reactions, resulting in pathological damage. The impact of TiO2 NPs on liver aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was studied using a meta-analysis. According to the findings, TiO2 NPs exposure can cause an elevation in AST and ALT levels in the blood. Furthermore, TiO2 NPs are eliminated mostly through feces, and their lengthy residence in the gut exposes them to microbiota. The gut microbiota is also dysbiotic due to titanium dioxide's antibacterial capabilities. This further leads to changes in the amount of microbiota metabolites, which can reach the liver with blood circulation and trigger hepatotoxicity through the gut-liver axis. This review examines the gut-liver axis to assess the effects of gut microbiota dysbiosis on the liver to provide suggestions for assessing the gut-hepatotoxicity of TiO2 NPs.
