Abstract
Lung cancer is intricately associated with genetic susceptibility, leading to familial clustering among affected individuals. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) toward lung cancer risk among the offspring of lung cancer patients. This study was conducted at Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital between April 2023 and August 2023. Participants' demographic characteristics and KAP toward lung cancer risk were collected through questionnaires. A total of 481 valid questionnaires were enrolled, with 243 (50.52%) males, and 242 (50.31%) aged > 40 years old. The mean scores for knowledge, attitude, and practice were 8.54 ± 2.60 (range: 0-13), 25.93 ± 3.16 (range: 7-35), and 17.47 ± 4.30 (range: 5-25), respectively. Structural equation modeling indicated that knowledge exerted a negative direct effect on attitude (β = - 0.417, P = 0.006) but a positive direct effect on practice (β = 0.733, P = 0.025). Additionally, attitudes displayed a negative direct effect on practice (β = - 1.707, P = 0.002). In conclusion, offspring of lung cancer patients exhibited insufficient knowledge, positive attitude, and suboptimal practice toward lung cancer risk.

Abstract
Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) represents one of the most concerning aspects for cancer patients. The Healthy Eating Index (HEI) is an a priori diet quality index directly associated with health outcomes and HRQoL in cancer survivors in North American populations. We evaluated, in a Mediterranean population, the baseline associations between HEI-2015 and HRQoL in 492 women with breast cancer recruited in a DEDiCa lifestyle trial. Dietary data were obtained from 7-day food records; HRQoL was assessed through the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (EORTC QLQ C30) and the C30 Summary Score (SumSc). Analysis of variance and multivariable linear and log-gamma regression models were performed. Mean and standard deviation for HEI-2015 score was 68.8 ± 11.2; SumSc was 81.5 ± 12.9. Women with lower HEI-2015 score had higher BMI, were more frequently exposed to tobacco smoke and had fewer years of education. Patients with a HEI-2015 score greater than 68.7 (median value) showed a significant increase in SumSc of 4% (p = 0.02). HEI-2015 components also associated with SumSc were beans and greens (β = 1.04; p = 0.02). Weak associations were found for total vegetables and saturated fats. Higher diet quality in breast cancer survivors was associated with higher overall HRQoL in this cross-sectional analysis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To describe and compare the references cited in popular books about diet and health between the USA and Japan. DESIGN Books were selected based on their best-seller rankings in the diet and health category of online bookstores. We identified references throughout all pages of the books and examined the number of references, reference format (identifiable or not) and presence of specific types of references, such as systematic reviews of human research. We compared the characteristics of references between the two countries and examined related factors to citation. SETTING Cross-sectional study. PARTICIPANTS Books (n 100 in each country). RESULTS Among 100 books from each country, sixty-five US and sixty-six Japanese books had references. Forty-five US books cited more than 100 references, against only five Japanese books. The number of books that cited systematic reviews of human research differed between the USA (n 49) and Japan (n 9). Additionally, the number of books that provided identifiable information for all references was significantly higher in the USA (n 63) than in Japan (n 42). Books whose first authors have licences of medical doctors were more likely to cite references than those without in both countries. CONCLUSIONS Two-thirds of books about diet and health cited references in both the USA and Japan, but Japanese books cited fewer references and were less likely to cite systematic reviews and provide identifiable references than US books. Further research into the scientific reliability of information in books about diet and health is warranted.
