Multiuser medical image encryption algorithm using phase-only CGH in the gyrator domain

In this paper, a multiuser medical image encryption algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm utilizes polar decomposition, which enables multiuser features in the proposed algorithm. A computer-generated hologram (CGH) improves the security of the proposed algorithm in the gyrator domain. The phase-only CGH-based multiuser algorithm offers advantages such as storing a large amount of information in a compact space, resistance to counterfeiting, and enhanced security. The proposed method is validated with various statistical metrics, such as information entropy, mean squared error, correlation coefficient, histogram, and mesh plots. Results confirm that the proposed algorithm is secure and robust against potential attacks, such as plaintext attacks, iterative attacks, and contamination attacks. The proposed method has a large keyspace, which makes it very difficult to be breached in real-time with existing computational power.

Enhancing Multi-Distance Phase Retrieval via Unequal Interval Measurements

In the conventional methods of multi-distance phase retrieval, the diffraction intensity patterns are recorded at equal intervals, which can induce slow convergence or stagnation in the subsequent reconstruction process. To solve this problem, a measurement method with unequal intervals is proposed in this paper. The interval spacings between adjacent measurement planes are decreased gradually. A large gap accelerates retrieval progress, and a short span helps to recover detailed information. The proposed approach makes full use of the available measured dataset and simultaneously generates variations in diversity amplitude, which is a crucial issue for the techniques of multi-image phase retrieval. Both computational simulations and experiments are performed. The results demonstrate that this method can improve the convergence speed by 2 to 3 times and enhance the quality of reconstruction results in comparison to that of the conventional methods.

InP high power monolithically integrated widely tunable laser and SOA array for hybrid integration

We present a monolithic InP-based photonic integrated circuit (PIC) consisting of a widely tunable laser master oscillator feeding an array of integrated semiconductor optical amplifiers that are interferometrically combined on-chip in a single-mode waveguide. We demonstrate a stable and efficient on-chip coherent beam combination and obtain up to 240 mW average power from the monolithic PIC, with 30-50 kHz Schawlow-Townes linewidths and >180 mW average power across the extended C-band. We also explored hybrid integration of the InP-based laser and amplifier array PIC with a high quality factor silicon nitride microring resonator. We observe lasing based on gain from the interferometrically combined amplifier array in an external cavity formed via feedback from the silicon nitride microresonator chip; this configuration results in narrowing of the Schawlow-Townes linewidth to ∼3 kHz with 37.9 mW average power at the SiN output facet. This work demonstrates a new approach toward high power, narrow linewidth sources that can be integrated with on-chip single-mode waveguide platforms for potential applications in nonlinear integrated photonics.

Rapid tilted-plane Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm for holographic optical tweezers

Benefitting from the development of commercial spatial light modulator (SLM), holographic optical tweezers (HOT) have emerged as a powerful tool for life science, material science and particle physics. The calculation of computer-generated holograms (CGH) for generating multi-focus arrays plays a key role in HOT for trapping of a bunch of particles in parallel. To realize dynamic 3D manipulation, we propose a new tilted-plane GS algorithm for fast generation of multiple foci. The multi-focal spots with a uniformity of 99% can be generated in a tilted plane. The computation time for a CGH with 512×512 pixels is less than 0.1 second. We demonstrated the power of the algorithm by simultaneously trapping and rotating silica beads with a 7×7 spots array in three dimensions. The presented algorithm is expected as a powerful kernel of HOT.
