Enhanced gorilla troops optimizer powered by marine predator algorithm: global optimization and engineering design

This study presents an advanced metaheuristic approach termed the Enhanced Gorilla Troops Optimizer (EGTO), which builds upon the Marine Predators Algorithm (MPA) to enhance the search capabilities of the Gorilla Troops Optimizer (GTO). Like numerous other metaheuristic algorithms, the GTO encounters difficulties in preserving convergence accuracy and stability, notably when tackling intricate and adaptable optimization problems, especially when compared to more advanced optimization techniques. Addressing these challenges and aiming for improved performance, this paper proposes the EGTO, integrating high and low-velocity ratios inspired by the MPA. The EGTO technique effectively balances exploration and exploitation phases, achieving impressive results by utilizing fewer parameters and operations. Evaluation on a diverse array of benchmark functions, comprising 23 established functions and ten complex ones from the CEC2019 benchmark, highlights its performance. Comparative analysis against established optimization techniques reveals EGTO's superiority, consistently outperforming its counterparts such as tuna swarm optimization, grey wolf optimizer, gradient based optimizer, artificial rabbits optimization algorithm, pelican optimization algorithm, Runge Kutta optimization algorithm (RUN), and original GTO algorithms across various test functions. Furthermore, EGTO's efficacy extends to addressing seven challenging engineering design problems, encompassing three-bar truss design, compression spring design, pressure vessel design, cantilever beam design, welded beam design, speed reducer design, and gear train design. The results showcase EGTO's robust convergence rate, its adeptness in locating local/global optima, and its supremacy over alternative methodologies explored.

Chaotic Mapping Lion Optimization Algorithm-Based Node Localization Approach for Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) contain several small, autonomous sensor nodes (SNs) able to process, transfer, and wirelessly sense data. These networks find applications in various domains like environmental monitoring, industrial automation, healthcare, and surveillance. Node Localization (NL) is a major problem in WSNs, aiming to define the geographical positions of sensors correctly. Accurate localization is essential for distinct WSN applications comprising target tracking, environmental monitoring, and data routing. Therefore, this paper develops a Chaotic Mapping Lion Optimization Algorithm-based Node Localization Approach (CMLOA-NLA) for WSNs. The purpose of the CMLOA-NLA algorithm is to define the localization of unknown nodes based on the anchor nodes (ANs) as a reference point. In addition, the CMLOA is mainly derived from the combination of the tent chaotic mapping concept into the standard LOA, which tends to improve the convergence speed and precision of NL. With extensive simulations and comparison results with recent localization approaches, the effectual performance of the CMLOA-NLA technique is illustrated. The experimental outcomes demonstrate considerable improvement in terms of accuracy as well as efficiency. Furthermore, the CMLOA-NLA technique was demonstrated to be highly robust against localization error and transmission range with a minimum average localization error of 2.09%.

An Optimized Ensemble Deep Learning Model for Predicting Plant miRNA-IncRNA Based on Artificial Gorilla Troops Algorithm

MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small, non-coding regulatory molecules whose effective alteration might result in abnormal gene manifestation in the downstream pathway of their target. miRNA gene variants can impact miRNA transcription, maturation, or target selectivity, impairing their usefulness in plant growth and stress responses. Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) based on miRNA is a newly introduced functional marker that has recently been used in plant breeding. MicroRNA and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) are two examples of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) that play a vital role in controlling the biological processes of animals and plants. According to recent studies, the major objective for decoding their functional activities is predicting the relationship between lncRNA and miRNA. Traditional feature-based classification systems' prediction accuracy and reliability are frequently harmed because of the small data size, human factors' limits, and huge quantity of noise. This paper proposes an optimized deep learning model built with Independently Recurrent Neural Networks (IndRNNs) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to predict the interaction in plants between lncRNA and miRNA. The deep learning ensemble model automatically investigates the function characteristics of genetic sequences. The proposed model's main advantage is the enhanced accuracy in plant miRNA-IncRNA prediction due to optimal hyperparameter tuning, which is performed by the artificial Gorilla Troops Algorithm and the proposed intelligent preying algorithm. IndRNN is adapted to derive the representation of learned sequence dependencies and sequence features by overcoming the inaccuracies of natural factors in traditional feature architecture. Working with large-scale data, the suggested model outperforms the current deep learning model and shallow machine learning, notably for extended sequences, according to the findings of the experiments, where we obtained an accuracy of 97.7% in the proposed method.

Improving Localization Accuracy under Constrained Regions in Wireless Sensor Networks through Geometry Optimization

In addition to various estimation algorithms, the target localization accuracy in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) can also be improved from the perspective of geometry optimization. Note that existing placement strategies are mainly aimed at unconstrained deployment regions, i.e., the positions of sensors are arbitrary. In this paper, considering factors such as terrain, communication, and security, the optimal range-based sensor geometries under circular deployment region and minimum safety distance constraints are proposed. The geometry optimization problem is modeled as a constrained optimization problem, with a D-optimality-based (maximizing the determinant of FIM matrix) scalar function as the objective function and the irregular feasible deployment regions as the constraints. We transform the constrained optimization problem into an equivalent form using the introduced maximum feasible angle and separation angle, and discuss the optimal geometries based on the relationship between the minimum safety distance and the maximum feasible angle. We first consider optimal geometries for two and three sensors in the localization system, and then use their findings to extend the study to scenarios with arbitrary numbers of sensors and arbitrarily shaped feasible regions. Numerical simulation results are included to verify the theoretical conclusions.
