Risk analysis and assessment method for infectious diseases based on information entropy theory

Infectious diseases risk is directly related to human life safety. After the COVID-19 pandemic, people have paid unprecedented attention to the risk of infectious diseases. Compared with treatment after the outbreak of the epidemic, identifying the influencing factors of infectious disease risk and quantitatively analyzing and assessing infectious disease risk before the outbreak of the epidemic plays an equally important role. This article focuses on the risk of irregular outbreaks of infectious diseases. On the one hand, a method based on information gain is proposed to calculate the weight of environmental factors directly related to infectious disease risk, to clarify the correlation between environmental factors and infectious disease risk. On the other hand, the risk calculation method based on risk weight number is proposed to calculate the risk level of different infectious diseases under the influence of specific environmental factors. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method are verified through case analysis and discussion. By comparing it with other risk assessment methods, the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed method are demonstrated.

NeuroHealth guardian: A novel hybrid approach for precision brain stroke prediction and healthcare analytics

Stroke is a severe illness, that requires early stroke detection and intervention, as this would help prevent the worsening of the condition. The research is done to solve stroke prediction problem, which may be divided into a number of sub-problems such as an individual's predisposition to develop stroke. To attain this objective, a multiturn dataset consisting of various health features, such as age, gender, hypertension, and glucose levels, takes a central role. A multiple approach was put forward concentrating on integrating the machine learning techniques, such as Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes, K-Nearest Neighbors, and Support Vector Machine (SV), together to develop an ensemble machine called Neuro-Health Guardian. The hypothesis "Neuro-Health Guardian Model" integrates these algorithms into one, purported to make stroke prediction more accurate. The topic dives into each instance of preparation of data for analysis, data visualization techniques, selection of the right model, training, testing, ensembling, evaluation, and prediction. The models are validated with error rate accounted from their accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and finally confusion matrices for a look. The study's result is showing that the ensemble model that combines the multiple algorithms has the edge over them and this is evidently by the fact that it can predict stroke rises. Additionally, accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 scores are measured in all models and the comparison is done to provide a clear comparison of the models' performance. In short, the article presented the formation of the ongoing stroke prediction that revealed the ensemble model as a good anticipation. Precise stroke predisposition forecasting can assist in early intervention thereby preventing stroke-related deaths, and limiting disability burden by stroke. The conclusions that have come out of this study offer a great action item for the development of predictive models related to stroke prevention and treatment.

Real-Time Estimation and Monitoring of COVID-19 Aerosol Transmission Risk in Office Buildings

A healthy and safe indoor environment is an important part of containing the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Therefore, this work presents a real-time Internet of things (IoT) software architecture to automatically calculate and visualize a COVID-19 aerosol transmission risk estimation. This risk estimation is based on indoor climate sensor data, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and temperature, which is fed into Streaming MASSIF, a semantic stream processing platform, to perform the computations. The results are visualized on a dynamic dashboard that automatically suggests appropriate visualizations based on the semantics of the data. To evaluate the complete architecture, the indoor climate during the student examination periods of January 2020 (pre-COVID) and January 2021 (mid-COVID) was analyzed. When compared to each other, we observe that the COVID-19 measures in 2021 resulted in a safer indoor environment.

Amplifiers in Biomedical Engineering: A Review from Application Perspectives

Continuous monitoring and treatment of various diseases with biomedical technologies and wearable electronics has become significantly important. The healthcare area is an important, evolving field that, among other things, requires electronic and micro-electromechanical technologies. Designed circuits and smart devices can lead to reduced hospitalization time and hospitals equipped with high-quality equipment. Some of these devices can also be implanted inside the body. Recently, various implanted electronic devices for monitoring and diagnosing diseases have been presented. These instruments require communication links through wireless technologies. In the transmitters of these devices, power amplifiers are the most important components and their performance plays important roles. This paper is devoted to collecting and providing a comprehensive review on the various designed implanted amplifiers for advanced biomedical applications. The reported amplifiers vary with respect to the class/type of amplifier, implemented CMOS technology, frequency band, output power, and the overall efficiency of the designs. The purpose of the authors is to provide a general view of the available solutions, and any researcher can obtain suitable circuit designs that can be selected for their problem by reading this survey.

SHMAD: A Smart Health Care System to Monitor Alzheimer's Disease Patients

BACKGROUND

In the digital era monitoring the patient's health status is more effective and consistent with smart healthcare systems. Smart health care facilitates secure and reliable maintenance of patient data. Sensors, machine learning algorithms, Internet of things, and wireless technology has led to the development of Artificial Intelligence-driven Internet of Things models.

OBJECTIVE

This research study proposes an Artificial Intelligence driven Internet of Things model to monitor Alzheimer's disease patient condition. The proposed Smart health care system to monitor and alert caregivers of Alzheimer's disease patients includes different modules to monitor the health parameters of the patients. This study implements the detection of fall episodes using an artificial intelligence model in Python.

METHODS

The fall detection model is implemented with data acquired from the IMU open dataset. The ensemble machine learning algorithm AdaBoost performs classification of the fall episode and daily life activity using the feature set of each data sample. The common machine learning classification algorithms are compared for their performance on the IMU fall dataset.

RESULTS

AdaBoost ensemble classifier exhibits high performance compared to the other machine learning algorithms. The AdaBoost classifier shows 100% accuracy for the IMU dataset. This high accuracy is achieved as multiple weak learners in the ensemble model classify the data samples in the test data accurately.

CONCLUSIONS

This study proposes a smart healthcare system for monitoring Alzheimer's disease patients. The proposed model can alert the caregiver in case of fall detection via mobile applications installed in smart devices.
