Abstract
Understanding railway accessibility supports railway regulation and development, but few studies consider different perspectives. We study the spatial distribution of accessibility indicators at the county (city) scale in Fujian Province by spatiotemporal syntax and weighted average travel time using railway timetable data. Export trade, rich commercial activities, and high-speed rail had a significant positive effect on objective accessibility. Fuzhou, Sanming, and Longyan were main transfer centers. The most accessible nodes based on weighted average travel time formed a "U"-shaped corridor along the coast. The county-wide average accessibility was 1.72 h. According to spatiotemporal syntax, local general public budget expenditure (0.758993) and export volume of goods-total retail sales of consumer goods (0.956257) had the most interactive impact, while according to weighted average accessibility, import volume of goods (0.618447) and per capita gross regional product-import volume of goods (0.878573) did. These results provide reference for transportation planning and regional development in Fujian Province.

Abstract
Elymus nutans is a perennial grass of the Gramineae family. Due to its cold-resistance and nutrition deficiency tolerance, it has been applied to the ecological restoration of degraded alpine grassland on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. As an important symbiotic microorganism, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have been proven to have great potential in promoting the growth and stress resistance of Gramineae grasses. However, the response mechanism of the AMF needs to be clarified. Therefore, in this study, Rhizophagus irregularis was used to explore the mechanism regulating cold resistance of E. nutans. Based on pot experiments and metabolomics, the effects of R. irregularis were investigated on the activities of antioxidant enzyme and metabolites in the roots of E. nutans under cold stress (15/10°C, 16/8 h, day/night). The results showed that lipids and lipid molecules are the highest proportion of metabolites, accounting for 14.26% of the total metabolites. The inoculation with R. irregularis had no significant effects on the activities of antioxidant enzyme in the roots of E. nutans at room temperature. However, it can significantly change the levels of some lipids and other metabolites in the roots. Under cold stress, the antioxidant enzyme activities and the levels of some metabolites in the roots of E. nutans were significantly changed. Meanwhile, most of these metabolites were enriched in the pathways related to plant metabolism. According to the correlation analysis, the activities of antioxidant enzyme were closely related to the levels of some metabolites, such as flavonoids and lipids. In conclusion, AMF may regulate the cold-resistance of Gramineae grasses by affecting plant metabolism, antioxidant enzyme activities and antioxidant-related metabolites like flavonoids and lipids. These results can provide some basis for studying the molecular mechanism of AMF regulating stress resistance of Gramineae grasses.

Analysis of Coupling Coordination Relationship between the Accessibility and Economic Linkage of a High-Speed Railway Network Case Study in Hunan, China. SUSTAINABILITY 2022. Abstract
The construction of a high-speed railway is important to the transportation network and economic development of a region. To further understand the interaction between accessibility and urban economic linkage in the context of high-speed railway networks, this study investigated the spatial and temporal changes in the coupling coordination between accessibility and economic linkage after a high-speed railway was opened in Hunan Province, China, using a coupling coordination model. The aim of this research is to explore the role that high-speed rail construction plays in regional development. Results indicate that (1) after the high-speed railway was opened, the accessibility of cities in Hunan Province has improved significantly, although the overall pattern has not changed by much. This is because it still shows a radiation pattern, with the Changsha–Zhuzhou–Xiangtan urban agglomeration at its core, which has subsequently spread to surrounding areas; (2) the improvement in urban accessibility has strengthened the economic linkages between cities, and the overall spatial pattern has gradually evolved from a point-axis pattern to a network pattern. The bipolar trend of total regional economic linkage has become more pronounced than what it was before; (3) the overall coordination degree of accessibility and economic linkage coupling in Hunan Province is primary coupling, and the phenomenon of regional polarization is prominent, thus showing the overall spatial pattern of ‘strong in the east and weak in the west.’ Further strengthening the construction of the high-speed railway in the northern part of Hunan, promoting the economic construction in the western and southern parts of Hunan, and building a spatial pattern of synergistic integration for Hunan’s continued transportation and economic development are suggested.

Abstract
From the perspective of 19 urban agglomerations and comprehensive transportation between them, this study, selecting node cities as research units, defines both the narrow and generalized corridor accessibility to calculate the corridor accessibility coefficient by the weighted average travel time and investigates their overall pattern. The gravity model improved by comprehensive-time cost is used to calculate the economic subordination degrees between Lanzhou–Xining urban agglomeration and other urban agglomerations. Moreover, the differences in the spatial distribution of inter-provincial logistics connectivity between the individual and total amount in Gansu province are discussed, and then the unbalanced trend of spatial connection is analyzed. The results indicate that the horizontal gradient of accessibility of different regions in China has statistical differences and the time-space compression caused by the layout of main transportation lines in Gansu province presents a typical “corridor effect.” The inter-provincial logistics economic relations in Gansu province demonstrate significant stratification characteristics and an unbalanced “neighbor effect” while there are few provincial groups directly connecting with Gansu province. Finally, based on data analysis and logical deduction, the paper analyzes the current situation, discusses the existing shortcomings and strategic advantages of Gansu province, and tries to give development suggestions in terms of the current opportunities as well as responsibilities.

Abstract
The highway is an important mode of transportation in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, and can be regarded as a major contributor to the high-quality and sustainable development of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. It is of great significance to explore its spatial distribution and characteristics for understanding the regional and geographical process. Although Qinghai–Tibet Plateau’s highway transportation infrastructure has been experiencing rapid development in recent years, there lacks a systematic examination of the whole Qinghai–Tibet Plateau from the perspective of supportive capacity for its socio-economic activities. This paper applies geospatial analysis methods, such as network analysis, spatial statistics, and weighted overlay, to model the highway transport dominance in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau in 2015 at the county scale and reveals the basic characteristics of the highway transport dominance’s spatial pattern. The results are mainly of four aspects: 1) there is a significant difference between the east and west of the highway in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, showing an irregular circle structure of gradual attenuation from the east to west; 2) at the county scale, the highway transport dominance in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau shows strong spatial autocorrelation and a certain extent of spatial heterogeneity, presenting a spatial distribution pattern of High–High and Low–Low clustering; 3) the urban locations of Lhasa, Xining and other center cities have obvious spatial constraints on the distribution of highway transport dominance and generally have a logarithmic decline trend; and 4) there are obvious differences in distribution among the three Urban Agglomerations in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. Due to the influence of traffic location, topography, construction of national trunk lines, and level of socio-economic development., the traffic conditions of Lan-Xi Urban Agglomeration and Lhasa Urban Agglomeration are better than Kashgar Urban Agglomeration. This study can be used to guide the optimization of the highway network structure and provide a macro decision-making reference for the planning and evaluation of major highway projects in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau.

Abstract
As the twenty-first-Century Maritime Silk Road tourism program aims on development of new tourist routes with special interest on the polar regions of the Arctic and the Antarctic, as well as the Tibetan Plateau, management of climate risks in travels and their reduction is an important issue for achievement of its goals at national and local levels. Acclimatization is crucial for adventurous tourists, and especially for those traveling to extremely cold and highly elevated environments, when climate and weather in tourist destination differ significantly from those at home. The Acclimatization Thermal Strain Index for Tourism (ATSIT) is designed and used to measure numerically the physiological expenses a traveler pays during the acclimatization process. The purpose of the present study is to examine acclimatization consequences for travels from Beijing, capital of China, to destinations at the Arctic, the Antarctic, and the Tibetan Plateau, collectively referred to as the 3Polar regions, during the main seasons of winter and summer, and back. The results show that acclimatizing to cold involves greater physiological strain than adjustment to heat. Acclimatization load in winter is low for all travels from Beijing and back home. ATSIT projections detect the most harmful degree of discomfort for summer travels from Beijing. The greatest acclimatization impact comes when changing locales from hot and humid to cold and dry climatic conditions, which might cause high and very high physiological strain. Moreover, as many destinations in the 3Polar regions, mostly in the Tibetan Plateau, are located in mountains, a special acclimatization plan is required to weaken the threat of mountain sickness. The results will be helpful for warning stakeholders and the decision makers in the tourism sector of economies, and are expected to be translated into action for the development of proper intervention procedures in health control, to minimize population loss.

Connectivity and Accessibility of the Railway Network in China: Guidance for Spatial Balanced Development. SUSTAINABILITY 2019. Abstract
Good connectivity and accessibility help to enhance the competitiveness of regions and countries. This research provides a detailed analysis of the connectivity and accessibility of the Chinese railway network. The studied period starts in 1949 and ends in 2017. The research scope covers the railway system of the entire country (except Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao). Instead of focusing on main cities as research objects, this paper provides more detailed insights by using counties as the basic research units. The analysis shows that the achieved connectivity has been increasing continuously over the study period. Four accessibility indicators (temporal location indicator, weighted average travel time, daily accessibility, and potential indicator) provide comprehensive and complementary results, indicating that the most accessible cities and units are located in the southeastern part of the Hu line. In addition, higher economic level, or higher population density, is correlated with higher accessibility. Furthermore, the current network exhibits an unbalanced spatial distribution pattern, with an underdeveloped west. All the indicators show that the accessibility of the northwest and southwest regions is the lowest. Based on these conclusions, regional policy-making suggestions can be made to guide a rational railway network expansion and facilitate the equality and sustainable economic development of regions. The future railway system development is suggested to focus more on enhancing inner and inter-region communication in the west of China and attach importance to poverty-stricken counties in support of balanced regional growth and development. The railway development of the eastern regions needs to focus on optimizing the structure of the network as well as reasonably organizing railway routes.

Abstract
Quantitatively evaluating the spatial characteristics of regional e-retailing economy linkages is of great significance for clarifying the spatial organization of regional e-retailing economies, and promoting regional coordinated development. However, due to the lack of study data, it is difficult toconduct quantitative research on these regional e-retailing economic linkages. Taking advantage of emerging new data sources, the depth and breadth of related research cannow be improved. This paper considers 64 county-level economic areas in Zhejiang Province as network nodes.A revised gravity model was used to measure the intensity of the e-retailing economic linkage in 2016,based upon the e-retailing data provided by the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, China. On this basis, the geographic information system (GIS) tool, a model-potential method and a social network, were used to analyze the spatial features of the e-retail economic linkages at the countylevel in Zhejiang Province. The results showed that the spatial polarization of the economic linkage pattern emerged as prominent, with the overall difference and east-west gradient difference between counties proving significant. In addition, the major linking partners of most regions were relatively singular, and a problem of vulnerability in e-retail economic development was shown.Secondly, the southwest region of Zhejiang Province was an important obstacle in the integration process of regional e-retail economy, through analyzing the connection scope of e-retailing economics. Thirdly, the central Zhejiang subgroupwas a key plate connecting east and west, which plays an importantlinking role in the development of regional equalizationwhen we analyzethe cohesive subgroup pattern. Inspired by this, we hypothesized that a microscopic analysis results of Zhejiang Province could provide some enlightenment for the balanced and integrated development of China’s regional e-retailing economy.

Abstract
The disorderly expansion of urban built-up land is a global issue. It is of great significance to guide urban land use scientifically through the analysis of geographical features to identify the mechanisms that underlie differences in urban built-up land expansion. We selected Changsha and Zhengzhou in China, whose built-up areas during the initial period of study had different natural geographical features, but similar human geographical features, and systematically explored the development and evolution characteristics of the natural and human geographical features from 1990 to 2010 using a landscape metrics analysis and an urban built-up land intensive use analysis. We found that (1) although human beings have a strong ability to transform nature, they have to rely on the natural endowment of the land to develop the cities and, thus, have formed different landscape patterns and levels of urban built-up land intensive use; (2) in places where the natural geographical features are more restrictive, land-use policy-makers are more cautious in their decision-making, which more closely links the land-use policies and human geographical features, thereby simultaneously increasing the degree of intensive built-up land use and reducing the number of problems that arise from urban built-up land expansion. This research can provide a reference for the development of policies for urban built-up land use in Changsha and Zhengzhou. It also can provide ideas for how to implement different built-up land management policies for other cities with different natural and human geographical features.
