Abstract
Pyrus communis L. is an important temperate fruit with high nutritional and economic value. Italy, as the largest pear producer in the EU and second in the world, has a particularly rich germplasm characterized by hundreds of local varieties. The Lazio Region was the first Italian region to start programs focused on safeguarding varieties at risk of extinction and has started a massive census of fruit varieties by combining molecular data and productive-territorial information. In this study, 311 pear accessions collected from the five provinces of the Lazio region were genetically characterized by the means of nine simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers, eight of which were recommended by the European Cooperative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR). The SSR analysis revealed 250 unique genotypes and 14 cases of synonymies, namely, accessions with different names but identical molecular profiles (100% genetic similarity). The microsatellite set showed a high polymorphism information content (PIC; mean PIC=0.77) and an exceptionally high discrimination power (DP = 0.99), making it particularly efficient both for the study of genetic diversity and for the prediction of the degree of ploidy. Notably, 20% of the accessions displayed triallelic profiles (i.e., accessions having ≥2 loci with a third allele), while the remaining accessions were diploids. These results were further confirmed by flow cytometry data analysis. Standardization of the molecular analyses at the national and international levels and harmonization of the SSR sets used for germplasm characterization are of paramount importance for producing molecular profiles useful for registration and variety maintenance.

Abstract
Pears (Pyrus) are one of the most economically important fruits worldwide. The Pyrus genus is characterized by a high degree of genetic variability between species and interspecific hybrids, and several studies have been performed to assess this variability for both cultivated and wild accessions. These studies have mostly been limited by the resolving power of traditional molecular markers, although in the recent past the availability of reference genome sequences or SNP arrays for pear have enhanced the capability of high-resolution genomics studies. These tools can also be applied to better understand the intra-varietal (or clonal) variability in pear. Here we report the first high resolution genomics analysis of a pear clonal population using whole genome sequencing (WGS). Results showed unique signatures for the accumulation of mutations and transposable element insertions in each clone, which are likely related to their history of propagation and cultivation. The nucleotide diversity remained low in the clonal collection with the exception of few genomic windows, suggesting that balancing selection may be occurring. These windows included mainly genes related to plant fertility. Regions with higher mutational load were partially associated with transcription factors, probably reflecting the distinctive phenotypes in the collection. The annotation of variants also revealed the theoretical disruption of relevant genes in pear. Taken together, the results from this study show that pear clones accumulate mutations differently, and that those mutations can play a role on pear phenotypes, meaning that the study of pear clonal populations can be relevant in genetic studies, mainly when comparing with traditional association studies.

Multicriteria Model of Support for the Selection of Pear Varieties in Raising Orchards in the Semberija Region (Bosnia and Herzegovina). SUSTAINABILITY 2022. Abstract
Bosnia and Herzegovina (abbreviated BiH) has great potential for fruit production. BiH has over 1.5 million hectares of agricultural land. In addition, there are excellent climatic conditions for growing fruit. However, although there is a long tradition of fruit production in BiH, this production must be improved. This paper provides guidance on making decisions in fruit growing when there are multiple criteria. All criteria are divided into two groups: economic and technical criteria. The economic criteria are further divided into three subcriteria, namely: marketing costs, orchard construction costs and processing and transport costs. Technical criteria are divided into four subcriteria, namely: fruit, variety resistance, production characteristics and processing and transport. According to these, a multicriteria decision-making model based on linguistic values was created. In order to take advantage of these values, a fuzzy approach was applied. Using this approach, decision-making process is easier because decision making is tailored to human thinking. For the example of raising a new orchard in the area of Semberija, an evaluation of seven different varieties of pears was performed. This problem is solved by applying the method of multicriteria analysis (MCDA). To solve this research problem, the MABAC (Multi-attributive border approximation area comparison) method was used. Using the fuzzy MABAC method, the obtained results show that the Šampionka variety has the best indicators among observed varieties. In addition, the Konferans variety achieved good results, and these two varieties are the first choice for raising a new orchard of pears. The paper validates the results and performs sensitivity analysis. The contribution of this research is to develop a new model of decision making by using a new methodology that facilitates decision making on variety selection. This model and methodology provide a flexible way of making decisions in fruit growing.

Abstract
This article describes development of multilocus SSR-markers sets for genotyping Pyrus, Prunus, and Malus from various genetic collections of the South of Russia. Generated multiplex sets of SSR-markers were used in the certification of cultivated varieties and in the analysis of the genetic structure of Pyrus, Prunus and Malus species collections. The results of SSR genotyping of pear, apple, plum and sweet cherry made it possible to establish genetic relationships between varieties, including groups of modern varieties of Russian and foreign breeding and, in turn, local autochthonous varieties. In general, the use of these multiplexes has confirmed their effectiveness in solving the assigned tasks.
