Abstract
Gardner's syndrome with the complete manifestation of colonic and extracolonic features is uncommon. Therefore, every clinician should view extracolonic features with a high index of suspicion. This may be key to early diagnosis, definitive management in these patients and importantly, helps prevent malignant transformation of existing colonic polyps.

Abstract
Osteoma of the temporal bone is an unusual benign slow-growing tumour composed of mature lamellar bone. It is a single pedunculated mass that often occurs unilaterally. Osteomas of external auditory canal are more common than in the other parts of temporal bone. Clinical presentation includes ear pain, hearing loss, tinnitus or vertigo. More often these lesions are an incidental finding during radiographic evaluation. Surgical excision of the osteoma is preferred in cases with impending complications. Here, we report a 36-year-old woman who came with problems of ear discharge, ear pain, hearing loss and occasional bleeding from the ear. She was diagnosed with osteoma of temporal bone with erosion of lateral semicircular canal and facial canal. Osteoma was excised and the defective areas were reconstructed.

Abstract
Mastoid osteomas of the temporal bone are rare, benign, and usually asymptomatic tumors. However, depending on their size and extension, mastoid osteomas may cause facial palsy, a sensation of ear fullness, pressure-related pain, hearing loss, recurrent external ear infections, and chronic discharge. The etiology of mastoid osteomas is still unknown, but congenital, infectious, and traumatic factors have been proposed. Surgical treatment may be performed with minimal postoperative morbidity. In this article, the authors report a case of a 48-year-old woman seeking orthodontic treatment with an unusual retroauricular protruding mass, including the diagnostic process and differential diagnosis. This case supports the essential role of cone-beam computed tomography to analyze and identify the lesion as a mastoid osteoma.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The postauricular region (PR) is an anatomic area that has been neglected until now, due to the fact that the significant cosmetic changes and features of this region are often overlooked. There are limited and inconsistent data about postauricular masses in the literature and the definition of the PR and its borders remain unclear. The aim of the present study was to define the PR and evaluate benign and malignant masses that may arise in the PR. METHODS Fifty-two patients were enrolled in the study. The patients were evaluated retrospectively in terms of demographic data, including age, gender, operative method, lesion side and size, diagnostic tools, and histopathologic diagnosis of the masses. RESULTS The masses were categorized into 4 groups according to the etiology; neoplastic (n: 15, 28.8%), inflammatory (n: 13, 25%), congenital (n: 22, 42.3%) and traumatic (n: 2, 3.8%). Of the neoplastic masses, 6 (11.5%) were nonmelanoma skin cancer, comprising 4 (7.6%) basal cell carcinomas and 2 (3.8%) squamous cell carcinomas. A total of 9 (17.3%) neoplastic masses were benign, comprising 3 (5.7%) lipomas, 3 (5.7%) temporal bone osteomas, 2 (3.8%) nevi, and 1 (1.9%) plexiform neurofibroma. Of the 13 (25%) inflammatory masses, 12 (23%) were lymph nodes and 1 (1.9%) was pilonidal sinus. There were 22 (42.3%) congenital masses comprising 15 (28.8%) epidermal cysts, 4 (7.6%) dermoid cysts, and 3 (5.7%) hemangiomas. The 2 (3.8%) patients with traumatic lesion were both keloid patients. CONCLUSION The PR does not attract attention from the cosmetic point of view but many benign and malignant masses can be found in this region. Any masses detected in this area should be treated to prevent further growth.

Abstract
Osteomas are slow growing bone tumours and are often asymptomatic. Rarely, they can be present in the temporal bone-only few cases had been reported, with an incidence of 0.1-1%. We describe a case of an osteoma of the temporal bone (retromastoid) found in a 40 year old female, who presented with a slow growing swelling behind the right ear for 9 years. Diagnosis was made on non-contrast computed topography (CT) of the skull. Treatment is indicated in symptomatic cases or cosmetic reasons. Screening colonoscopy and genetic testing for familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and Gardner's syndrome are advised.

Abstract
ApstraktGardner syndrome is a rare autosomal-dominant genetic disorder, considered a variant of familial adenomatous polyposis. It is characterized by intestinal polyposis and various bone and soft-tissue tumors, including osteomas, epidermal and dermal cysts, lipomas and fibromas. Intestinal polyps have high potential to become malignant, and the screening of intestinal lesions is mandatory. Maxillofacial manifestations, such as jaw osteomas, odontomas, dental abnormalities and soft tissue tumors frequently precede the intestinal manifestations. Thus, maxillofacial surgeons and dental practitioners may have important role in early detection of Gardner syndrome. In this case report we present a 22 year old male patient who was reffered to maxillofacial surgeon due to osteoma of the mandible. After obtaining clinical and radiological examinations, as well as data from family history, Gardner syndrome was suspected, which was later confirmed after gastroenterological examination.

Abstract
Gardner's syndrome (GS) is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by the presence of familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) as well as extraintestinal manifestations such as osteomas, dental anomalies, epidermoid cysts and ocular abnormalities. These intestinal polyps carry a 100% risk of malignant change, so early diagnosis is crucial. As craniofacial osteomas and dental anomalies of GS usually precede gastrointestinal symptoms, otolaryngologists, oral surgeons and dentists play an important role in the diagnosis of GS. GS is extensively reported in literature in the Caucasian race but not in the Mongoloid race. We report a case of a 22-year-old patient with a manifestation of three features of GS - multiple osteomas, soft tissue tumors and dental anomalies in the craniofacial region, with no intestinal polyps at the time of reporting. A family pedigree with our patient as the proband was constructed and revealed 3 consecutive generations in his lineage with GS.

Abstract
Introduction. Osteoma of the temporal bone is a very uncommon benign tumor of bone. Osteomas may occur in the external auditory canals but are reported to be very rare in the mastoid bone. Case Report. A 36-year-old male presented to our department with a hard swelling behind the right ear diagnosed as osteoma. Complete excision was done through a postauricular approach. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of osteoma. Conclusion. Osteomas, although rare, should be considered when dealing with any hard mastoid swelling. Complete removal can be ensured by drilling till the normal cortical bone is reached to avoid recurrence. A cortical mastoidectomy should be done if the mastoid air cell system is involved.

Abstract
Gardner's syndrome is a hereditary disorder inherited as an autosomal dominant with high penetrance and variable expression that is caused by a mutation of the adenomatous polyposis coli gene. It is characterized by gastrointestinal polyps associated with multiple osteomas, dental anomalies, and skin and soft tissue tumors. We present a case of 30-year-old female patient with Gardner's syndrome who presented with a giant mediastinal thymolipoma. The tumor was completely excised through a bilateral posterolateral thoracotomy. There was no recurrence after 20 months of follow-up. We therefore suggest that physicians who regularly treat patients with Gardner's syndrome carefully examine for thoracic manifestations.

Abstract
Gardner's syndrome is characterized by the triad of intestinal polyposis accompanied by multiple hard- and soft-tissue tumors. Untreated, all patients will develop gastrointestinal cancer by the age of 40. Although incurable, progression can be prevented by close monitoring and prophylactic colectomy to prevent malignancy. Multiple osteomas of the head and jaw bones are common extraintestinal manifestations of Gardner's syndrome and can be helpful in the diagnostic work-up. The disease pattern should be known to the treating physician, since extraintestinal manifestations usually occur long before intestinal polyposis and early diagnosis is critical for the prognosis.

Abstract
Gardner's syndrome is a clinical subgroup of familial adenomatous polyposis, an autosomal dominant disease. It is characterized by gastrointestinal polyps and extra-intestinal manifestations including multiple osteomas, skin and soft tissue tumours. Aggressive desmoid tumours can be very difficult to manage in patients with Gardner's syndrome. We present a case of a 17-year-old female who presented with an aggressive desmoid tumor arising of the lumbar area as part of her Gardner's syndrome. She was treated with surgery, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, tamoxifen and radiotherapy, and was followed up for 80 months. We conclude that desmoid tumors can precede gastrointestinal manifestations of familial adenomatous polyposis or Gardner's syndrome. Such patients should be evaluated with genetic testing followed by colonoscopy. Desmoid tumours should be managed in a multidisciplinary setting, as well.

Gardner syndrome (GS) is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by the presence of colonic polyposis, osteoma and soft tissue tumors. It is regarded as a clinical subgroup of familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and may present at any age from 2 mo to 70 years with a variety of symptoms, either colonic or extracolonic. We present a case of a 23-year-old female patient with GS who presented with gastric polyposis and was successively treated with restorative proctocolectomy in combination with ileal pouch anal anastomosis (RPC/IPAA), ileostomy, ileostomy closure operation, snare polypectomy during 8 mo. After operation, the patient took oral traditional Chinese medicine pills made of Fructus mume and Bombyx batryticatu for about 6 mo. The innutrition and anaemia of this patient were gradually improved. Gastroscopy showed that the remnant gastric polypi gradually decreased and finally disappeared 19 mo after the first operation. The patient had 2-3 times of solid stool per day at the time we wrote this paper.

Abstract
Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an inherited disease characterized by the presence of multiple polyps in the colon or other areas of the gastrointestinal tract. In Gardner's syndrome, which is considered by some as a variant of FAP, polyps in the colon present with extracolonic manifestations, such as osteomas, lipomas, fibromas or other soft tissue tumors. In 100% of all untreated patients, cancer of the large intestine develops before the age of 40. Subjects with this disorder usually die from complications related to this and other tumors. Older patients surviving this disease only did so after total colectomy was performed. We describe a 75-year-old patient with the typical lesions of Gardner's syndrome who survived without treatment for the disease for more than 40 years after diagnosis.
