Abstract
The asymmetric reactions of imines continued to attract the attention of the scientific community for decades. However, the stereoselective reactions of N-phosphonyl/phosphoryl imines remained less explored as compared to other N-substituted imines. The chiral auxiliary-based asymmetric-induction strategy with N-phosphonyl imines could effectively generate enantio- and diastereomeric amine, α,β-diamine, and other products through various reactions. On the other hand, the asymmetric approach for the generation of chirality through the utilization of optically active ligands, along with metal catalysts, could be successfully implemented on N-phosphonyl/phosphoryl imines to access numerous synthetically challenging chiral amine scaffolds. The current review critically summarizes and reveals the literature precedence of more than a decade to highlight the major achievements existing to date that can display a clear picture of advancement as well drawbacks in this area.

Abstract
The first asymmetric catalytic approach to multilayer 3D chirality has been achieved by using Suzuki-Miyaura cross-couplings. New chiral catalysts were designed and screened under various catalytic systems that proved chiral amide-phosphines to be more efficient ligands than other candidates. The multilayer 3D framework was unambiguously determined by X-ray structural analysis showing a parallel pattern of three layers consisting of top, middle and bottom aromatic rings. The X-ray structure of a catalyst complex, dichloride complex of Pd-phosphine amide, was obtained revealing an interesting asymmetric environment nearby the Pd metal center. Three rings of multilayer 3D products can be readily changed by varying aromatic ring-anchored starting materials. The resulting multilayer products displayed strong luminescence under UV irradiation and strong aggregation-induced emission (AIE). In the future, this work would benefit not only the field of asymmetric synthesis but also materials science, in particular polarized organic electronics, optoelectronics and photovoltaics.

Abstract
3D chirality of sandwich type of organic molecules has been discovered. The key element of this chirality is characterized by three layers of structures that are arranged nearly in parallel fashion with one on top and one down from the center plane. Individual enantiomers of these molecules have been fully characterized by spectroscopies with their enantiomeric purity measured by chiral HPLC. The absolute configuration was unambiguously assigned by X-ray diffraction analysis. This is the first multilayer 3D chirality reported and is anticipated to lead to a new research area of asymmetric synthesis and catalysis and to have a broad impact on chemical, medicinal, and material sciences in future.

Abstract
A copper(i)-catalyzed dearomative borylation of N-alkoxycarbonyl protected indole-3-carboxylates has been developed. The boron addition in this reaction occurred regioselectively at the 2-position of indoles followed by diastereoselective protonation, affording the corresponding stable cyclic chiral α-amino boronates (2-borylindolines) in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities. The product 2c could be used as a versatile precursor to undergo subsequent stereoselective transformations, delivering highly functionalized 2,3,3-trisubstituted chiral indolines.

Abstract
An asymmetric Mannich-type reaction between chiral N-phosphonyl imines and azlactones [oxazol-5(4H)-ones] has been established under convenient conditions at room temperature. The reaction was performed without using any bases, additives, or catalysts to achieve up to excellent chemical yields and diastereoselectivity for 32 examples. The α-quaternary syn-α,β-diamino acid products were purified simply by washing the crude mixtures with cosolvents, following the group-assisted purification chemistry/technology, without involving traditional chromatography or recrystallization methods. The auxiliary can be readily removed and recycled for reuse. The absolute configuration was unambiguously assigned by X-ray structural analysis.

Abstract
A novel method for Fmoc/tBu solution-phase peptide synthesis and the development of a new benzyl-type GAP protecting group is reported. This new GAP protecting group is utilized in place of a polymer support, facilitating C→N Fmoc peptide synthesis without chromatography, recrystallization, or polymer supports. The GAP group can be added and removed in high yield, and was used to synthesize over 1 gram of the immunostimulant, thymopentin, in high overall yield (83%) and purity (99%).

Abstract
This review describes available methods for the preparation of α-aminoboronic acids in their racemic or in their enantiopure form. Both, highly stereoselective syntheses and asymmetric procedures leading to the stereocontrolled generation of α-aminoboronic acid derivatives are included. The preparation of acyclic, carbocyclic and azacyclic α-aminoboronic acid derivatives is covered. Within each section, the different synthetic approaches have been classified according to the key bond which is formed to complete the α-aminoboronic acid skeleton.

Abstract
Carbamoyl anions were found to smoothly react with chiral N-phosphonyl imines in toluene at -78 °C to r.t. using LiHMDS as the base. Group-assisted purification (GAP) has been utilized to give the pure amides without using column chromatography or recrystallization. The asymmetric reaction resulted in chiral N-phosphonyl amino amides with good to excellent yields (71-99%) and good crude diastereoselectivities (dr 84:16-95:5). In this GAP procedure, the crude solids are washed with diethyl ether to afford the pure products, as revealed by (1)H NMR analysis; GAP washing consistently increases the diastereopurity of the products, resulting in excellent diastereoselectivities, often with final dr > 99:1. Interestingly, the diastereoenriched products can be obtained either in the ether solution or as the suspended solid, depending on the substrate.
