Abstract
Since the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine guidelines were developed by the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology (KSGO) in 2011, 2016, and 2019, several recent studies on the efficacy and safety of HPV vaccines in middle-aged women and men have been reported. Furthermore, there has been an ongoing debate regarding the efficacy of the HPV vaccine in women with prior HPV infection or who have undergone conization for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). We searched and reviewed studies on the efficacy and safety of the HPV vaccine in middle-aged women and men and the efficacy of the HPV vaccine in patients infected with HPV and those who underwent conization for CIN. The KSGO updated their guidelines based on the results of the studies included in this review.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Since 2007, human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines have been administered for the prevention of cervical cancer in Korea. We investigated the status of HPV vaccination among HPV-infected adult women with abnormal cervical cytology before the introduction of National Immunization Program. METHODS From 2010 to 2016, HPV-positive women (age, 20-60 years) with atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance or low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) were enrolled from five hospitals across Korea. Their HPV genotype, epidemiologic, and clinical data, including HPV vaccination history, were obtained. We compared the epidemiological characteristics and prevalence of HPV-16/18 genotypes between vaccinated and unvaccinated women. RESULTS Among the 1,300 women, approximately 26% had a history of vaccination. Vaccinated patients were significantly younger, unmarried, and had a higher education level than unvaccinated women. For HPV-vaccinated individuals by vaccine dose, there was a significant younger age at vaccination initiation (p=0.025), longer duration from HPV vaccination to Pap test date (p=0.001), and lower proportion of HPV-16/18 (p=0.028) in the women with three doses. There was a significantly lower prevalence of HPV-16/18 genotypes in women who were vaccinated at least 12 months prior than in unvaccinated women (adjusted prevalence ratio [aPR]=0.51; 95% confidence interval [CI]=0.29-0.88). For women with LSIL, the prevalence of the HPV-16/18 genotypes was significantly lower in women who were vaccinated more than 12 months prior than in unvaccinated women (aPR=0.35; 95% CI=0.13-0.96). CONCLUSION This study highlighted the status of HPV vaccination and the prevalence of HPV-16/18 genotypes among HPV-infected women with abnormal cervical cytology according to HPV vaccination. It provides preliminary information regarding the status of HPV vaccination among Korean adult women.

Abstract
The Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology International Workshop 2018 on gynecologic oncology was held in the Ajou University Hospital, Suwon, Korea on the 24th to 25th August 2018. The workshop was an opportunity for Asian doctors to discuss the latest findings of gynecologic cancer, including cervical, ovarian, and endometrial cancers, as well as the future of fertility-sparing treatments, minimally invasive/radical/debulking surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. Clinical guidelines and position statement of Asian countries were presented by experts. Asian clinical trials for gynecologic cancers were reviewed and experts emphasized the point that original Asian study is beneficial for Asian patients. In Junior session, young gynecologic oncologists presented their latest research on gynecologic cancers.

Abstract
In 2016, 9-valent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine has been newly introduced in Korea, thus the need to develop recommendations for the vaccine has raised. Until we decide to develop a guideline, no further studies on the bi-valent or quadri-valent HPV vaccine have been announced. We searched and reviewed the literatures focused on the efficacy of 9-valent HPV vaccine, the ideal age of 3-dose schedule vaccination, the efficacy of 9-valent HPV vaccine in middle-aged women, the efficacy of the 2-dose schedule vaccination, the safety of 9-valent HPV vaccine, the possibility of additional 9-valent HPV vaccination, and cross-vaccination of 9-valent HPV vaccine. So, Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology (KSGO) developed a guideline only for 9-valent HPV vaccine.

Abstract
Cancer is a major cause of morbidity and the most common cause of death in Korea. There are currently approximately 200,000 incident cancer cases and 78,000 individuals die from cancer every year. The factors directly related to cancer incidence, including aging, smoking, obesity, and Westernized dietary habits, have been increasing during the past several decades. Since 1999, trends toward increased incidence have been observed for thyroid, breast (in women), colorectal, and prostate cancer. Currently, these trends have changed direction, and the incidence of stomach and liver cancer in both sexes, and cervical cancer in women have continually declined. Although the number of cancer deaths increased by a factor of 2.7 from 1983 to 2016, the age-standardized mortality associated with cancer has been decreasing by 3% every year. The 5-year relative survival rate (RSR) has also improved over the past several decades, especially for stomach, prostate, and breast cancer, which had 5-year RSRs greater than 90% in the most recent report.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Recent studies suggest an association between Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection, cervical inflammation and obstetric complications (i.e. spontaneous preterm parturition and cervical insufficiency). It has been proposed that viral inflammation of the placenta causes changes in the mother's immune reaction to bacterial pathogens, which leads to enhanced inflammatory reaction and preterm delivery. Therefore, the aim of this population-based study was to determine the association between abnormal cervical cytology prior to pregnancy and obstetric outcomes. STUDY DESIGN A Retrospective population-based cohort study was designed, including all women who had a Pap smear up to two years prior to delivery or during first trimester of pregnancy (n = 15,357). Women were divided into the following groups, according to Pap smear results: group 1 - Normal PAP smear (n = 11,261); group 2 - Pap smear with evidence of an inflammatory process (n = 3895); and group 3 - Pap smear with evidence of HPV infection (n = 201). Obstetrical outcomes, gestational age at delivery, and pregnancy complications were compared among the groups. RESULTS The rate of HPV infection in our study population was 1.3%. The rate of preterm delivery (group 1 - 8.5%, group 2 - 8.5%, group 3 - 7%, p = 0.7), preterm PROM (group 1 - 1.7%, group 2-1.6%, group 3 - 2%, p = 0.66) and cervical insufficiency (group 1 - 0.5%, group 2 - 0.7%, group 3 - 1.5%, p = 0.11) did not differ significantly among the study groups. There was no statistical difference in the rate of premature rapture of membranes, newborn small-for-gestational-age, preeclampsia or placental abruption. Women with abnormal cervical cytology, either due to inflammation or HPV infection, had similar obstetric outcome in comparison to those with a normal cervical cytology. CONCLUSION This population-based retrospective cohort study indicates no association between positive HPV testing with Pap smear and obstetric complications such as preterm delivery, cervical insufficiency, placental abruption, PROM, Preterm PROM, neonatal SGA and preeclampsia, in a population with low prevalence HPV infection.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to assess the relationship between infection with multiple human papillomavirus (HPV) types and abnormal anal cytology in HIV-infected men. DESIGN An observational, cross-sectional study. SETTING A regional referral hospital in Taiwan. PARTICIPANTS In total, 714 HIV-infected men were enrolled between March 2011 and June 2016. Thin preparation anal Pap smears were interpreted according to the 2001 Bethesda System. Thirty-seven types of HPV were detected by reverse line blotting, including 13 oncogenic types and 24 non-oncogenic types. OUTCOME MEASURES The relationship between anal HPV infection and abnormal anal cytology in people of Asian ethnicity and the coverage efficacy in HPV-vaccinated HIV-infected men. RESULTS On anal cytology, 175 (24.5%) subjects had atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) or higher grades of dysplasia, including 87 (49.7%) with ASCUS, 73 (41.7%) with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSILs) and 15 (8.6%) with high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSILs). A higher proportion of subjects with those without LSIL/HSIL (93.1% vs 67.3%, P<0.0001) had multiple HPV types. The odds of having LSIL/HSIL increased with an increasing number of HPV types: the ORs ranged from 1 for no HPV types to 6.96 (95% CI 2.38 to 20.37) for more than five types (Ptrend <0.0001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed a significant association between LSIL/HSIL and the number of HPV genotypes present (OR 1.20; 95% CI 1.02 to 1.42, P<0.05). HPV types covered by the nonavalent HPV vaccine (types 6/11/16/18/31/33/45/52/58) were detected in 70.1% of the patients in this study. CONCLUSIONS The odds of having anal LSIL/HSIL are approximately seventimes greater in HIV-infected men with than withoutsix or more types of HPV. Multiple HPV types in HIV-infected patients deserves aggressive follow-up, and HPV vaccination programme require scaling up.
