Synthesis Pathway and Powerful Antimicrobial Properties of Silver Nanoparticle: A Critical Review

Phytosynthesis of Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles Using King of Bitter Andrographis paniculata and Its Embryonic Toxicology Evaluation and Biomedical Potential

Phytosynthesis particles are the efficient activity of biomedical and environmental. In this present study, the green synthesis of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles using the king of bitter herbal plant Andrographis paniculata was synthesized and characterized using XRD, SEM, HRTEM, AFM, and antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antidiabetic activities. The size of the particles HRTEM shows 50 nm, and SEM shows the spherical shape, which reveals the synthesis of TiO₂ nanoparticles. XRD spectrum shows crystallinity of nanoparticles, and an average size is calculated about 22.97 nm. The phytosynthesis TiO₂ shows the antioxidant and antidiabetic activities. Similarly, toxicity studies have demonstrated the hatching and viability LD 50 value of TiO₂ 250 μg/L. The current study's findings suggested that phytosynthesis TiO₂ using extract of Andrographis paniculata exposure to potential hazard factors to biomedical and environmental uses.

A Comprehensive Review of Polymeric Wastewater Purification Membranes

Synthetic membranes are currently employed for multiple separation applications in various industries. They may have been prepared from organic or inorganic materials. Present research majorly focuses on polymeric (i.e., organic) membranes because they show better flexibility, pore formation mechanism, and thermal and chemical stability, and demand less area for installation. Dendritic, carbon nanotube, graphene and graphene oxide, metal and metal oxide, zwitter-ionic, and zeolite-based membranes are among the most promised water treatment membranes. This paper critically reviews the ongoing developments to utilize nanocomposite membranes to purify water. Various membranes have been reported to study their resistance and fouling properties. A special focus is given towards multiple ways in which these nanocomposite membranes can be employed. Therefore, this review provides a platform to develop the awareness of current research and motivate its readers to make further progress for utilizing nanocomposite membranes in water purification.

Synthesis and antimicrobial properties of CaCO3-nAg and nAg-CaCO3 nanocomposites

The nanocomposites of nAg-CaCO₃ and CaCO₃-nAg with different mass content of silver nanoparticles were obtained in a two-stage continuous microwave process. The nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, TEM, UV-vis, and FTIR spectroscopy. The effects of microwave radiation, silver nanoparticles content in the composite and the molar ratio of tannic acid to silver on the size of salt crystallites were studied. The effectiveness of combining silver nanoparticles with CaCO₃ was confirmed to exceed 99%. Depending on the input parameters applied, the size of salt crystals in nAg/CaCO₃ nanocomposites ranged from 25 to 45 nm, while the size of salt crystals in CaCO₃/nAg nanocomposites ranged from 26 to 41 nm. In addition, some of the compositions were tested for their antimicrobial activity on selected yeast and bacterial microorganisms. The prepared materials present a biocidal effect, which makes them suitable for use in antimicrobial preparations.

Gold, Silver, and Palladium Nanoparticles: A Chemical Tool for Biomedical Applications

Herein, the role of metal-based nanoparticles (NPs) in biomedical analysis and the treatment of critical deceases been highlighted. In the world of nanotechnology, noble elements such as the gold/silver/palladium (Au/Ag/Pd) NPs are the most promising emerging trend to design bioengineering materials that could to be employed as modern diagnostic tools and devices to combat serious diseases. NPs are considered a powerful and advanced chemical tool to diagnose and to cure critical ailments such as HIV, cancer, and other types of infectious illnesses. The treatment of cancer is the most significant application of nanotechnology which is based on premature tumor detection and analysis of cancer cells through Nano-devices. The fascinating characteristic properties of NPs-such as high surface area, high surface Plasmon resonance, multi-functionalization, highly stable nature, and easy processing-make them more prolific for nanotechnology. In this review article, the multifunctional roles of Au/Ag/Pd NPs in the field of medical science, the physicochemical toxicity dependent properties, and the interaction mechanism is highlighted. Due to the cytotoxicity of Ag/Au/Pd NPs, the conclusion and future remarks emphasize the need for further research to minimize the toxicity of NPs in the bio-medicinal field.

Characterization and Effect of Ag(0) vs. Ag(I) Species and Their Localized Plasmon Resonance on Photochemically Inactive TiO2

Commercial TiO2 (anatase) was successfully modified with Ag nanoparticles at different nominal loadings (1%–4%) using a liquid impregnation method. The prepared materials retained the anatase structure and contained a mixture of Ag0 and AgI species. Samples exhibited extended light absorption to the visible region. The effect of Ag loading on TiO2 is studied for the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to CH4 in a gas–solid process under high-purity conditions. It is remarkable that the reference TiO2 used in this work is entirely inactive in this reaction, but it allows for studying the effect of Ag on the photocatalytic process in more detail. Only in the case of 2% Ag/TiO2 was the formation of CH4 from CO2 observed. Using different light sources, an influence of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect of Ag is verified. A sample in which all Ag has been reduced to the metallic state was less active than the respective sample containing both Ag0 and Ag+, indicating that a mixed oxidation state is beneficial for photocatalytic performance. These results contribute to a better understanding of the effect of metal modification of TiO2 in photocatalytic CO2 reduction.
