Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the orbit masquerading as a hemophilic pseudotumor

An 11-year-old boy presented with a lesion of the right orbit that was thought to be a hemophilic pseudotumor. Excisional biopsy revealed an unexpected diagnosis of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma. Both mesenchymal chondrosarcoma and hemophilic pseudotumor of the orbit are exceedingly rare. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of orbital mesenchymal chondrosarcoma masquerading as hemophilic pseudotumor.

Cranial pseudotumour in haemophilia

Intracranial pseudotumour has rarely been reported in haemophilia. We present the fourth case describing this complication.

Haemophilic pseudotumour of the paranasal sinuses: management with radiotherapy and factor replacement therapy

A case of pseudotumour of the paranasal sinuses occurring in a patient with haemophilia A is reported. There was a favourable response to combined treatment with radiation therapy and factor VIII replacement.

Nasal haemophilic pseudotumour

Haemophilic pseudotumour or haemophilic cyst is a rare complication of haemophilia, occurring in one to two per cent of individuals with a severe factor VIII or IX deficiency. We report a case of a haemophilic pseudotumour in a hitherto unreported site, the bony nasal pyramid, and believe this case is also unique on account of it having occurred in a patient with mild haemophilia. The diagnosis and treatment of this rare condition is also reviewed.

Radiotherapy of pseudotumors of bone in hemophiliacs with circulating inhibitors to factor VIII

Pseudotumors of bone in two hemophiliacs with severe factor VIII deficiency and a high level of circulating inhibitors are reported. Both had favorable response to radiation therapy after unsuccessful treatment with factor concentrates and remain free of recurrence at 18-62 months. A review of the literature of cases in which radiotherapy has been used is presented. Radiotherapy in the treatment of pseudotumors of bone in hemophiliacs should be strongly considered, particularly if coagulation factor inhibitors are present.

Hemophilic pseudotumor of the spinal canal. Case report

Hemophilic pseudotumor is an uncommon complication among hemophiliacs. Most of these lesions are located in the long bones and the pelvis. The authors describe a case of hemophilic pseudotumor in a patient who presented with symptoms of L-5 radiculopathy and evidence of a destructive lesion on computerized tomography scans. Histologically, the lesion consisted of an organizing hematoma with reactive fibrosis. The diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion. Surgery is recommended for symptomatic patients.
