Abstract
BACKGROUND Identification of factors associated with quality of life (QOL) among cancer survivors is crucial for identifying potential targets for intervention. OBJECTIVES We aimed to provide evidence of factors associated with the QOL among posttreatment cancer survivors in Korea. METHODS We performed a systematic literature search from January 2000 to September 2022 using PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Korean databases (RISS, SCIENCEON). We evaluated study quality using the Joanna Briggs Institute Quality Appraisal Checklists for Analytical Cross-sectional Studies and performed statistical analysis using the R 3.0 software (R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria) package. We analyzed the pooled effect sizes of potential QOL correlates by the random-effects model. RESULTS This meta-analysis included 31 studies with 8934 participants. The pooled estimates were significantly large for economic status (r = -0.53); significantly medium for fatigue (r = -0.39), anxiety (r = -0.29), depression (r = -0.42), self-efficacy (r = 0.37), and social support (r = 0.30); and significantly small for education level (r = -0.18), job status (r = -0.09), cancer stage (r = -0.20), and time since diagnosis (r = -0.26). CONCLUSIONS Low education level, having no job, low economic status, advanced cancer stage, short disease period, fatigue, anxiety, and depression were significantly associated with worse QOL, whereas self-efficacy and social support were significantly associated with better QOL. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE The findings have potential implications for identifying "at-risk survivors" of deteriorated QOL and for suggesting powerful strategies (eg, enhancing self-efficacy or social support) for improving QOL.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study is to enhance the quality of life in elderly patients with lung cancer by understanding relations of uncertainty, appraisal of uncertainty, self-efficacy, and quality of life targeting elderly patients with lung cancer receiving anticancer therapy, and also analyzing the factors affecting the quality of life based on Mishel's theory. Materials and Methods: The subjects were a total of 112 lung cancer patients aged 65 or older receiving anticancer therapy. The data was collected by using self-report questionnaires targeting patients in hemato-oncology at Chungbuk National University Hospital. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a t-test, an analysis of variance, Pearson's correlational coefficients, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: In stage 1, anticancer therapy (chemotherapy) (β = -0.34, p < 0.001), economic condition (low) (β = -0.30, p < 0.001), the number of anticancer therapies (three times or more) (β = -0.29, p < 0.001), and education (graduation from high school or higher) (β = 0.18, p = 0.033) were influencing factors (F = 0.52, p < 0.001). In stage 2, self-efficacy (β = 0.41, p < 0.001), appraisal of uncertainty: danger (β = -0.29, p < 0.001), appraisal of uncertainty: opportunity (β = 0.18, p = 0.018), the number of anticancer therapies (three times or more) (β = -0.17, p = 0.006), and anticancer therapy (chemotherapy) (β = -0.14, p = 0.031) were influencing factors, which showed 74.2% explanatory power (F = 26.17, p < 0.001). Conclusions: In order to improve the quality of life of subjects, it would be necessary to develop interventions for raising their self-efficacy by considering their degree of education, economic condition, the types and numbers of anticancer therapies, and understanding of the appraisal of uncertainty about the disease is assessed as an opportunity factor or a danger factor.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although quality of life (QOL) improves over time for most breast cancer patients after their treatment, some patients may show different patterns of QOL. Beyond determining distinct QOL trajectories, identifying characteristics of patients who have different trajectories can help identify breast cancer patients who may benefit from intervention. We aimed to identify trajectories of QOL in breast cancer patients for one year after the end of primary treatment, to determine the factors influencing these changes. METHODS This longitudinal study recruited 140 breast cancer patients. Patients' QOL, symptom experience, self-efficacy, and social support were assessed using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy Scale-G, Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale-Short Form, Self-Efficacy Scale for Self-Management of Breast Cancer, and Interpersonal Support Evaluation List-12. Data were collected immediately after the end of primary treatment (T1) and at three (T2), six (T3), and 12 months (T4) after primary treatment. Group-based trajectory modeling was used to identify distinct subgroups of patients with similar patterns of QOL change after treatment. A one-way analysis of variance was used to determine which variables were associated with trajectory membership. A multinomial logistic regression was performed to identify factors associated with trajectory group membership. RESULTS We analyzed 124 patients (mean age: 48.75 years). Latent class analysis of the QOL identified three trajectory groups: the low QOL group (n = 27; 21.1%), moderate QOL group (n = 57; 45.3%), and high QOL group (n = 40; 33.6%). The low QOL group showed consistently low QOL after the end of primary treatment, and the moderate QOL group showed a slight decrease in QOL from T1 to T3, which returned to the T1 level at T4. The high QOL group maintained a consistently high QOL. By multinomial logistic regression, psychological symptoms (odds ratio [OR] 0.46, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.22-0.99) predicted a moderate QOL, and both psychological symptoms (OR 0.19, 95% CI 0.07-0.51) and belonging support (OR 1.60, 95% CI 1.06-2.39) predicted a high QOL. CONCLUSION Identifying high-risk groups for reduced QOL after the end of primary treatment is necessary. Moreover, psychosocial interventions should be provided to alleviate psychological symptoms and increase belonging support to enhance patients' QOL. Trial registration Not registered.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to assess the evidence of the association between positive psychological resources and quality of life in patients with cancer. Methods Electronic searching was performed to retrieve articles from PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, CNKI, and CBM (from inception to 7 April 2022). Summary correlation coefficient (r) values were extracted from each study, and 95% CIs were calculated by the random-effect model. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were performed to investigate potential heterogeneity. Results In total, sixty-six articles were included in the present study. The pooled r for resilience was 0.71 (95%CI: 0.55, 0.87), hope 0.50 (95%CI: 0.43, 0.56), self-efficacy 0.53 (95%CI: 0.46, 0.61), self-esteem 0.46 (95%CI: 0.28, 0.63), and optimism 0.30 (95%CI: 0.19, 0.40). For subgroup analysis, no significant differences were found between minors and adults. Conclusion This study indicated that resilience, hope, optimism, self-esteem, and self-efficacy were positively correlated with quality of life in patients with cancers. Therefore, intervention programs should be focused on increasing state-like positive psychological resources to improve the quality of life in patients with cancer.

Abstract
Background The annual incidence of new cancer cases has been increasing worldwide for many years, and is likely to continue to rise. In Germany, the number of new cancer cases is expected to increase by 20% until 2030. Half of all cancer patients experience significant emotional and psychosocial distress along the continuum of their disease, treatment, and aftercare, and also as long-term survivors. Consequently, in many countries, psycho-oncological programs have been developed to address this added burden at both the individual and population level. These programs promote the active engagement of patients in their cancer therapy, aftercare and survivorship planning and aim to improve the patients' quality of life. In Germany, the “new form of care isPO” (“nFC-isPO”; integrated, cross-sectoral psycho-oncology/integrierte, sektorenübergreifende Psycho-Onkologie) is currently being developed, implemented and evaluated. This approach strives to accomplish the goals devised in the National Cancer Plan by providing psycho-oncological care to all cancer patients according to their individual healthcare needs. The term “new form of care" is defined by the Innovation Fund (IF) of Germany's Federal Joint Committee as “a structured and legally binding cooperation between different professional groups and/or institutions in medical and non-medical care”. The nFC-isPO is part of the isPO project funded by the IF. It is implemented in four local cancer centres and is currently undergoing a continuous quality improvement process. As part of the isPO project the nFC-isPO is being evaluated by an independent institution: the Institute for Medical Sociology, Health Services Research, and Rehabilitation Science (IMVR), University of Cologne, Germany. The four-year isPO project was selected by the IF to be eligible for funding because it meets the requirements of the federal government's National Cancer Plan (NCP), in particular, the “further development of the oncological care structures and quality assurance" in the psycho-oncological domain. An independent evaluation is required by the IF to verify if the new form of care leads to an improvement in cross-sectoral care and to explore its potential for permanent integration into the German health care system. Methods The nFC-isPO consists of six components: a concept of care (C1), care pathways (C2), a psycho-oncological care network (C3), a care process organization plan (C4), an IT-supported documentation and assistance system (C5) and a quality management system (C6). The two components concept of care (C1) and care pathways (C2) represent the isPO clinical care program, according to which the individual cancer patients are offered psycho-oncological services within a period of 12 months after program enrolment following the diagnosis of cancer. The remaining components (C3-C6) represent the formal-administrative aspects of the nFC-isPO that are intended to meet the legally binding requirements of patient care in the German health care system. With the aim of systematic development of the nFC-isPO while at the same time enabling the external evaluators to examine its quality, effectiveness and efficiency under conditions of routine care, the project partners took into consideration approaches from translational psycho-oncology, practice-based health care research and program theory. In order to develop a structured, population-based isPO care program, reference was made to a specific program theory, to the stepped-care approach, and also to evidence-based guideline recommendations. Results The basic version, nFC-isPO, was created over the first year after the start of the isPO project in October 2017, and has since been subject to a continuous quality improvement process. In 2019, the nFC-isPO was implemented at four local psycho-oncological care networks in the federal state North Rhine-Westphalia, in Germany. The legal basis of the implementation is a contract for "special care" with the German statutory health insurance funds according to state law (§ 140a SCB V; Social Code Book V for the statutory health insurance funds). Besides the accompanying external evaluation by the IMVR, the nFC-isPO is subjected to quarterly internal and cross-network quality assurance and improvement measures (internal evaluation) in order to ensure continuous quality improvement process. These quality management measures are developed and tested in the isPO project and are to be retained in order to ensure the sustainability of the quality of nFC-isPO for later dissemination into the German health care system. Discussion Demands on quality, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of in the German health care system are increasing, whereas financial resources are declining, especially for psychosocial services. At the same time, knowledge about evidence-based screening, assessment and intervention in cancer patients and about the provision of psychosocial oncological services is growing continuously. Due to the legal framework of the statutory health insurance in Germany, it has taken years to put sound psycho-oncological findings from research into practice. Ensuring the adequate and sustainable financing of a needs-oriented, psycho-oncological care approach for all newly diagnosed cancer patients, as required by the NCP, may still require many additional years. The aim of the isPO project is to develop a new form of psycho-oncological care for the individual and the population suffering from cancer, and to provide those responsible for German health policy with a sound basis for decision-making on the timely dissemination of psycho-oncological services in the German health care system. Abstract
BACKGROUND This study was conducted to determine a hypothetical model for the factors affecting the quality of life of postoperative colorectal cancer patients. METHODS We collected data from 209 patients that was analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 25. RESULTS Predictive variables of the hypothesis model included an exogenous variable, social support, as well as endogenous variables self-efficacy, symptoms, health promotion behavior, and quality of life. Testing of the correction model showed that significant paths directly affecting quality of life of patients after colorectal cancer surgery included health promotion behavior, symptoms, and self-efficacy and also showed an explanation power of 58.7%. Social support was found to have a significant impact on the quality of life indirectly through self-efficiency. CONCLUSIONS To improve the quality of life of colorectal cancer patients, it is necessary to develop a nursing intervention program that strengthens patients' health promotion behaviors to alleviate their symptoms and improve their social support and self-efficacy.

Abstract
PURPOSE Postpartum depression is related to many factors, which affect the health of mothers and infants. The purpose of this study is to test the mediated effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between vulnerable personality and postpartum depression. PATIENTS AND METHODS A cross-sectional survey was conducted with pregnant women aged ≥20 years from February to April 2021 in Zhengzhou, China. We recruited 587 pregnant women, and 429 pieces of data were available. The demographic characteristics questionnaire, General Self efficacy Scale (GSES) and Vulnerable Personality Style Questionnaire (VPSQ) were distributed in the prenatal survey. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) was used to screen postpartum depression symptoms at one month through WeChat and telephone follow-up. A mediated model was constructed to explain the relationship of variables and test the mediated effect of self-efficacy. RESULTS The valid questionnaires were 429 (effective response rate: 90.7%). The vulnerable personality and low self-efficacy were related to postpartum depression (all P< 0.01). The self-efficacy of pregnant women was inversely associated with vulnerable personality (β= -0.415) and postpartum depression (β= -0.216). The vulnerable personality and self-efficacy can explain 29.0% of the variation in postpartum depression. It was confirmed that a partial mediating effect of self-efficacy accounted for 18.0% (0.090/0.501) of the total effect. CONCLUSION Maternal self-efficacy partly mediates the relationship between vulnerable personality traits and postpartum depression. The study implies the importance of targeted interventions to improve self-efficacy for women with vulnerable personality traits to reduce the risk of postpartum depression.

Abstract
Backgrounds Many breast cancer patients experience significant distress immediately following the completion of primary treatment. Women who report low levels of quality of life (QOL) early in this phase of transitional survivorship tend to experience diminished long-term adjustment. However, since most of the prior studies on survivors were conducted on patients at various times, studies on QOL of women during the end of primary treatment have been insufficient. This study aimed to identify determinants of QOL in women with breast cancer immediately following the completion of treatment. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on 140 disease-free breast cancer patients who had completed therapy in the past 1 month at university hospitals. Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast (FACT-B), Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale-Short Form (MSAS-SF), Self-Efficacy Scale for Self-Management of Breast Cancer (SESSM-B), and Interpersonal Support Evaluation List-12 (ISEL-12) scales were used to assess predictors and QOL. The data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation, t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results The mean score of QOL for breast cancer survivors was 97.23 (±20.01). Chemotherapy and perceived economic status were significantly associated with QOL in terms of sociodemographic and disease/treatment-related characteristics. Physical and psychological symptoms and social support had a significant association with QOL. The regression analyses showed that physical and psychological symptoms and belonging support were statistically significant in predicting the QOL of breast cancer survivors. Conclusions The variables of symptom experience and social support must be acknowledged when improving women’s QOL immediately after their completion of primary breast cancer treatment. Greater focus on the reduction of symptom distress and increasing a sense of belonging could improve QOL among breast cancer survivors.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study explored the relationships among self-efficacy, post-traumatic growth, and quality of life in a sample of pediatric cancer survivors and analyzed the factors associated with quality of life in pediatric cancer survivors. METHOD A questionnaire assessed self-efficacy, post-traumatic growth, and health-related quality of life. Data were collected from December 2017 to December 2018 at a hospital in Seoul, South Korea from 115 pediatric cancer survivors. RESULTS Health-related quality of life showed significant positive correlations with general self-efficacy and social self-efficacy, but did not significantly correlate with post-traumatic growth. Factors that significantly influenced health-related quality of life were current age (β = 0.24, p = .007), currently not attending school (β = -0.19, p = .029), having many uncomfortable symptoms (β = -0.26, p = .006), some daily life difficulties (β = -0.23, p = .015), general self-efficacy (β = 0.17, p = .043), and social self-efficacy (β = 0.32, p = .001). This model explained 50% of the variance in self-reported health-related quality of life. CONCLUSION Health-related quality of life in pediatric cancer survivors was not associated with post-traumatic growth. However, high health-related quality of life was related to being older, attending school, lacking uncomfortable symptoms and difficulties in daily life, and having high self-efficacy. Interventions may improve health-related quality of life in pediatric cancer survivors if they increase self-efficacy, reduce uncomfortable symptoms and difficulties in daily life and for children who are survivors of cancer, and encourage maintaining school life.

Abstract
Background The Patient Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (PACIC) was developed in the United States to assess the implementation of the Chronic Care Model (CCM)-based intervention from the patient’s perspective. Although the psychometric properties of the PACIC have been reported in other chronically ill patients, it has not been reported in cancer survivors. Our aim was to evaluate the acceptability, validity, and reliability of a Korean version of the PACIC among cancer survivors (K-PACIC-CS). Methods Among 204 cancer survivors at a university-based hospital in South Korea, we performed psychometric evaluation of the K-PACIC-CS according to acceptability (descriptive statistics, missing values, and floor and ceiling effects), validity (confirmative factor analysis [CFA] and convergent validity), and reliability (internal consistency, i.e., Cronbach’s alpha). Results The item response was high (missing rate = 0.5%). The floor effect was 3.9%– 43.6% and the ceiling effect was 6.9%– 41.2%. The CFA revealed good indices of fit and confirmed the five structures predetermined in the original version of PACIC. The K-PACIC-CS scores had significant positive relationships with cancer survivors’ self-efficacy and health-related quality of life. The total K-PACIC-CS showed excellent internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = .94) and those of the subscales were acceptable (Cronbach’s alpha = .76 -.86). Conclusions This study suggests that the K-PACIC-CS is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring implementation of CCM-based chronic care from the survivor’s perspective.

Abstract
Spousal support may attenuate stress in breast cancer survivors and improve their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). However, there is limited evidence of a relationship between spousal support, stress, and HRQoL in Asian populations. The current study examined whether spousal support, adherence to the American Cancer Society (ACS) Guidelines on Nutrition and Physical Activity for Cancer Survivors, and breastfeeding experience mediated or moderated the relationship between stress and HRQoL in Korean breast-cancer survivors. Between June 2016 and May 2018, 144 Korean women who survived breast cancer were recruited for the current cross-sectional study. Structured questionnaires and medical records were used to collect data. Structural equation modeling was used to examine mediating and moderating factors. Spousal support buffered the adverse effect of stress on HRQoL (β = −0.22 for stress→spousal support; β = 0.27 for spousal support→physical HRQoL; β = 0.40 for spousal support→mental HRQoL). We found that adherence to ACS guidelines moderated the association between stress and HRQoL (β = −0.14 for stress→mental HRQoL in high ACS adherence; β = −0.79 for stress→mental HRQoL in low ACS adherence). Moreover, beta coefficients were −0.22 for stress→mental HRQoL in women with breastfeeding experience, and −0.71 in those without breastfeeding experience. In conclusion, spousal support mediated the association between stress and HRQoL and this association was moderated by both adherence to ACS guidelines and breastfeeding experience.
