Abstract
BACKGROUND Urolithiasis is one of the most common urinary tract diseases. It is a multifactorial condition involving both environmental and metabolic aspects. Dietary changes and lifestyle modifications are crucial for managing and preventing urolithiasis. Barley and parsley have been utilized as a complementary treatment to manage urolithiasis, which may be helpful in managing and preventing this disease. METHODOLOGY This was a community-based cross-sectional study conducted to determine the effects of parsley and barley in managing urolithiasis among the population of Hail, Saudi Arabia by an electronic questionnaire. All responses were kept confidential. Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS version 22 (Chicago, IL: SPSS Inc.). RESULTS A total of 395 participants completed the questionnaire, with ages ranging from 18 years to more than 60 years; nearly half of them were females. Only 37 (9.4%) had a history of renal disease but 182 (46.1%) had a family history of renal stones. Regarding the frequency of barley and parsley used in the management of renal stones, 162 (41%) respondents used barley, while 176 (44.6%) of them used parsley to treat or prevent kidney stones. Factors associated with the use of barley and parsley in the management of renal stones were older age, female gender, non-healthcare staff, those with renal disease history, and family history of renal stones. CONCLUSION The results showed that among the Hail population, non-conventional therapies are more commonly used for treating renal stones than medical treatment. There were multiple factors associated with using barley and parsley to manage urolithiasis. Additional research is needed to gain a clearer understanding of the safety and effectiveness of non-conventional therapies, such as barley and parsley, in managing urolithiasis.

Abstract
This cross-sectional study aimed to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding urinary system stones among the general public in Chengdu, China. Conducted between January and June 2023, this research targeted individuals undergoing physical examinations at the Health Management Center of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital. Structured questionnaires were administered to collect demographic information and assess KAP related to urinary system stones. Following meticulous scrutiny, 1014 valid questionnaires were retained for analysis. The computed scores for knowledge, attitude, and practice were 9.36 ± 4.23 (possible score range 0-17), 37.75 ± 7.20 (possible score range 11-55), and 30.77 ± 4.00 (possible score range 10-50), respectively. These outcomes suggested insufficient knowledge and moderately positive attitudes and practices among the participants. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis revealed a direct impact of knowledge on attitude (β = 0.967, P < 0.001), with attitude subsequently exerting a direct influence on practice (β = 0.167, P < 0.001). This indicated an indirect impact of knowledge on practice. Additionally, there was a direct effect of knowledge on practice (β = 0.167, P < 0.001). In conclusion, the general populace in Chengdu exhibited insufficient knowledge and moderate attitudes and practices concerning urinary stones. These findings underscore the imperative for targeted educational interventions aimed at enhancing public awareness and fostering positive attitudes and practices toward urinary stone prevention and management.

Abstract
Background Urolithiasis is the formation of calculi in the urinary system. It is a public health concern worldwide that can lead to serious long-term consequences. Age, gender, dietary habits, and physical activity levels are all factors that increase the risk of urolithiasis formation. Furthermore, the presence of comorbid medical conditions such as diabetes and hypertension are other major risk factors. Among the most prominent determinants that raise the likelihood of acquiring urolithiasis is exposure to high temperatures, especially in middle-aged men. Consequently, Saudi residents are two and a half times more prone than the global average to develop urolithiasis, especially those in the Kingdom's hottest regions. Methodology This cross-sectional study assessed the self-reported prevalence and non-nutritional risk factors of urolithiasis among the population of Hail, Saudi Arabia, through an electronic questionnaire. The questionnaire contained 16 questions divided into three categories. Participants' permission was obtained before completing the questionnaire. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) was used to analyze the data. Results Of the 1150 participants with a mean age of 26.3 ± 12.8 years old, nearly half were males (50.9%). Urolithiasis was detected among 158 (13.7%) participants. The following factors showed significant relation with having urolithiasis: increased age, male gender, a low level of education, diabetes, hypertension, and hyperthyroidism. A family history of renal stones was also associated with double the risk of having urolithiasis. Conclusion The results showed a high prevalence of urolithiasis in the Hail region, with many risk factors associated with it. It is important to support and promote awareness campaigns that address the critical risk factors of urolithiasis. Further studies should be conducted to arrive at a better understanding of the association between non-nutritional risk factors and developing urolithiasis.
