Abstract
BACKGROUND Adverse events (AE) in dupilumab-induced ocular surface diseases (DIOSD) have raised concerns regarding its safety. The objective of this study was to evaluate DIOSD by employing database analysis and clinical case review, along with mechanism analysis. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Database AE data were extracted from FAERS from 2017 Quarter 1 (Q1) to 2023 Q1. Disproportionality analyses were performed to identify the risk signals associated with DIOSD. Case reports/case series reported on DIOSD from March 2017 to June 2023 were collected for a literature review. The mechanisms of DIOSD were investigated through disease-gene interaction network analysis. RESULTS A total of 85 signals related to DIOSD were detected from FAERS. The most reported AE was 'dry eye' (n = 3503, ROR 20.32, 95% CI: 19.53-21.14). There were 36 articles, including 201 cases showing the evidence of DIOSD, with an average age of 43 years. About 64.18% patients suffered from severe atopic dermatitis, and 48.26% were reported with a previous ocular history. The mechanisms study suggested that tumor necrosis factor plays an important role in DIOSD. CONCLUSIONS Our findings support that dupilumab use is associated with exacerbation or new-onset OSD. Particular attention should be focused on eye symptoms during dupilumab use.

Abstract
Aim Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease that destroys both soft and hard periodontal tissues. However, a complex periodontal cytokine network remains unclear. This systematic review explored multiple cytokine gene polymorphisms in the pathogenesis of periodontitis. Material and Methods A systematic search was performed using the databases from previous publications, which indicated the association between cytokine polymorphisms and periodontitis pathogenesis. Meta-analysis was conducted using fixed or randomized models to calculate the significance of multiple cytokine polymorphisms. A total of 147 articles were analyzed with polymorphisms in 12 interleukins [Th1 (IL-2, IFN-γ, and TNF-α), Th2 (IL-4 and IL-13), Th17 (IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-17), and Treg cytokines (IL-10 and TGF-β)]. Doi plot was used to probe the occurrence of publication bias. Results The polymorphisms of IL-2 and TNF-α of Th1 cytokine family may be associated with the pathogenesis or the prevention of periodontitis risk, while the polymorphism of IFN-γ is not related to periodontitis risk. The polymorphisms for IL-4 and IL-13 of Th2 cytokine family are not found to be associated with the pathogenesis of periodontitis. For the polymorphisms of the members of Th17 cytokine family, different IL-1α polymorphisms may have inverse actions in the pathogenesis of periodontitis. IL-1β is a noteworthy cytokine biomarker in periodontitis development and progression. IL-6 may have a protective function in the inflammatory responses of periodontitis, and IL-17 has a weak relationship the inflammatory responses. The polymorphisms for the members of Treg cell cytokines may have a protective function against periodontitis risk. LFK indexes show the major asymmetry due to publication bias. Conclusion IL-1β is a notable cytokine biomarker in periodontitis risk. Treg cytokines favor an anti-inflammatory and protective environment. Further data are needed to confirm the present conclusion due to publication bias.

Abstract
Background: Periodontitis (PD) is a chronic inflammatory disease that can eventually lead to tooth loss. Genetic and environmental factors such as smoking are involved in the pathogenesis of PD. The development of PD is potentiated by various pathogens that induce an immune response leading to the production of cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-17. The synthesis of IL-17 is influenced genetically. The polymorphisms in IL-17 gene may affect the synthesis of IL-17. The aim of this study was to examine the association between the IL-17F rs763780 and IL-17A rs2275913 polymorphisms and PD in non-smoking and smoking patients to check if these polymorphisms could be a risk factor for PD. Methods: The study enrolled 200 patients with PD (130 non-smokers and 70 smokers) and 160 control subjects (126 non-smokers and 34 smokers). Periodontitis was diagnosed on the basis of 2017 World Workshop on the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases and Conditions. All samples were genotyped using allelic discrimination assays with TaqMan® probes on a Real-Time PCR Detection System. Results: There were no statistically significant differences in the distribution of the IL-17F rs763780 and IL-17A rs2275913 genotypes and alleles between patients with PD and control subjects, between smoking patients with PD and smoking control subjects, and between non-smoking patients with PD and non-smoking control subjects. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest a lack of statistically significant associations between IL-17F rs763780 and IL-17A rs2275913 polymorphisms and PD in Polish population.

Abstract
The association of genetic polymorphisms with periodontitis has been studied extensively. The interleukin-7 (IL-17) is a group of cytokines, which comprises six different molecules (IL-17A, B, C, D, E, and F). Among this, IL-17A is the most commonly understood cytokine, and its polymorphism plays a critical role in inflammatory diseases and periodontal inflammation. The present study was aimed at pooling the data available for meta-analysis and to evaluate whether IL-17A (rs2275913) polymorphism is associated with the susceptibility of chronic periodontitis.

Abstract
Background. Previous studies have revealed that gene polymorphisms of inflammatory factors may influence the development or progression of periodontitis, a main cause of tooth loss in adults; however, due to limitations of individual studies, inconsistent findings were reported. Objective. To meta-analytically investigate the relationship between periodontitis and the Interleukin-4 (IL-4) and Interleukin-4 receptor (IL-4R) gene polymorphisms. Methods. Databases were searched for relevant case-control studies. After study selection based on the predefined selection criteria, methodological quality assessment and data extraction were conducted independently by two reviewers, before subsequent statistical analyses. Results. 37 studies involving 4,385 patients and 5,168 controls were included. All the studied IL-4 polymorphisms were not significantly associated with periodontitis, except the -33C/T (CT versus CC: OR = 0.50, 95% CI = 0.28–0.88) associated with reduced AgP susceptibility. Positive association was found between IL-4R Q551 polymorphism and periodontitis susceptibility in three genetic models (R versus Q: OR = 1.59, 95% CI = 1.14–2.22; QR versus QQ: OR = 1.84, 95% CI = 1.21–2.80; RR + QR versus QQ: OR = 1.82, 95% CI = 1.22–2.72). Conclusions. A positive association exists between the IL-4R Q551R polymorphism and occurrence of CP. The IL-4 -33 CT genotype is negatively associated with the occurrence of AgP.

Abstract
Background: Stature is considered to be one of the “big fours” in forensic anthropology. Though Carrea's Index was published as early as 1920 it has not been validated in any other population apart from the Brazilians. Aim: The present study was conducted to validate Carrea's index in stature estimation in two different racial populations in India. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out in a sample of 100 persons comprising of 25 Aryan males, 25 Aryan females, 25 Dravidian males, and 25 Dravidian females in the age group of 18–30 years. The maximum and minimum stature of all individuals was estimated by Carrea's Index. The actual stature was measured by an anthropometer. The estimated stature was compared with the actual stature and percentage of success was calculated. Results: The Carrea's Index was found to be valid in predicting the stature of 80% Dravidian and 84% Aryan males, the difference being statistically insignificant (Fisher Exact test–0.16; P = 0.99). The stature of 76% of females in both Aryan and Dravidian races was successfully predicted by Carrea's index. Regression analysis showed that the minimum estimated height was more valid in estimating the stature of Aryan and Dravidian population. Conclusion: The validity to use Carrea's index in Aryan and Dravidian population was evaluated and found to be valid.

Abstract
Chronic periodontitis (CP) is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases and cytokines play a pivotal role in the regulation of immune response. Interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-13 (IL-13) are anti-inflammatory cytokines and several polymorphisms of them have been proved involved in periodontal disease. This study aimed to evaluate whether three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), rs2070874 and rs2243248 from IL4 and rs1800925 from IL13, are associated with CP in a Han Chinese population consisting of 440 moderate or severe CP patients and 324 healthy controls. Genomic DNA extracted from buccal epithelial cells of the included participants were genotyped using a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry method. No significant association between rs2070874 or rs1800925 and CP was found, while the frequencies of rs2243248 and two haplotypes C-G-T and C-T-T showed significant differences between the two groups. The results suggest that the polymorphism rs2243248 and haplotypes C-G-T and C-T-T may be associated with CP susceptibility in the present Han Chinese population.

Abstract
Objectives The aims of this study were to analyze the prevalence of sella turcica bridging and to measure the size of the sella turcica on profile cephalograms in a homogenous group of surgically repaired unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) patients. Setting Tertiary care center. Design Retrospective cross-sectional study. Patients Preorthodontic lateral cephalometric radiographs of 64 UCLP individuals between the ages of 16 and 29 years along with an equal number of age- and sex-matched skeletal Class I controls. Main Outcome Measures The extent of calcification of the interclinoid ligament was quantified (completely calcified, partially calcified, no calcification) and mean values compared. Length, depth, and diameter of the sella turcica were also measured. The results were statistically analyzed using paired t test and Wilcoxon signed ranks test. Results Complete sella bridging of both type A (4.6%) and type B (21.7%) was significantly higher in UCLP patients. This has not been reported previously. Partial sella bridging was also higher in cleft patients as evaluated by two methods (42.18%, 39.06%). This study demonstrated a statistically significant decrease in all dimensions of sella turcica in UCLP patients. Conclusions The UCLP patients apparently had higher predilection for sella turcica bridging. The dimensions of sella turcica were also seen to be significantly smaller than the control group. Defective proliferation and deviated pathways of neural crest cell migration as well as premature rupture of contact between neuroepithelium and oral ectoderm as postulated causes are discussed.

Abstract
Aggressive periodontitis (AgP), occurs in a younger age group (≤35 years) and is associated with the rapid destruction of periodontal attachment and supporting bone. Genetic polymorphisms are allelic variants that occur in at least 1% of the population that could potentially alter the function of the proteins that they encode. Interleukins are a group of cytokines that have complex immunological functions including proliferation, migration, growth and differentiation of cells and play a key role in the immunopathogenesis of periodontal disease. The aim of this review was to summarize the findings of studies that reported associations or potential associations of polymorphisms in the interleukin family of cytokines, specifically with AgP.
