Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate and compare two different fiber-reinforced composite materials in class I post-endodontic restoration in molars. A total of 50 patients were randomly assigned into two groups (n = 25 for each group); group A: everX Posterior (packable composite) with a top layer of solareX (nano-hybrid composite) and group B: everX Flow (flowable composite) with a top layer of G-aenial universal injectable (flowable composite). Patients were evaluated immediately after the procedure (baseline), at 6 months, and at 1 year time intervals based on the modified USPHS criteria. The statistical analysis using a chi-square test showed no statistically significant difference in the clinical performance of group A and group B. Clinical performance of the combination of everX Flow with overlying G-aenial universal injectable composite proved to be comparable with everX Posterior with overlying solareX composite as post-endodontic restorations in class I lesions in permanent molars.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study evaluated the effect of beam homogeneity on the microtensile bond strength (μTBS) of two adhesive resins to dentin. METHODS One polywave light-emitting-diode (LED) LCU (Bluephase Style, Ivoclar Vivadent AG) was used with two different light guides: a regular tip (RT, 1010 mW/cm2 emittance) and a homogenizer tip (HT, 946 mW/cm2 emittance). The emission spectra and beam profiles were measured from both light guides. Extracted third molars were prepared for μTBS evaluation using two adhesive systems: Excite F (EXF) and Adhese Universal (ADU). Bond strength was calculated for each specimen (n = 10) at locations that correlated with the output of the two LED chips emitting blue (455 nm) and the one chip that emitted violet light (409 nm) after 24-hs and after one-year water-storage. The μTBS was analyzed using a four-way analysis of variance (factors: adhesive system, light guide, LED wavelength, and storage time) and post-hoc Tukey test (α = 0.05). RESULTS EXF always delivered a higher μTBS than ADU (p < 0.0001), with the μTBS of ADU being about 20% lower than EXF. The light guide (p = 0.0259) and storage time (p = 0.0009) significantly influenced the μTBS. The LED wavelengths had no influence on the μTBS (p > 0.05). SIGNIFICANCE Homogeneity of the emitted light beam was associated with higher 24-h μTBS to dentin, regardless of the adhesive tested. Also, differences in the composition of adhesives can affect their compatibility with restorative composites and their ability to maintain bonding over one year.

Abstract
Extraordinary women scientists-past, current, and elected presidents of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR)-showcase pathways for success and leadership. In this series of autobiographical essays, these women of various cultural backgrounds with diverse areas of research describe their journeys in the passionate pursuit of excellence, despite the frequent obstacles and challenges. Through interviews and in their own words, we recap highlights of their dental research journeys and inspirations, their career trajectories toward the IADR presidency, and the benefits and challenges that they faced in their careers and personal lives. The purpose of this special issue is to honor these women, their life journeys, and how they have contributed to oral health research.

Abstract
Resin composite-based dental materials can leach certain components into the oral environment, causing potentially harmful gingival biological effect. Gingival tissue is a rich source of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that is easily accessible, and can be used as a complementary approach for the investigation of dental material biocompatibility. Using gingival MSCs (gMSCs), the present study aimed to investigate the cytotoxicity of two classes of restorative dental materials (ormocers and resin composites) used to restore class II cavities close to the gingival margin, in addition to analyzing the leached compounds from these resin composite-based materials. Functionality assays (Colony-forming unit, migratory potential, and proliferation assays) and a viability assay (MTT) were employed. Cells' aspect was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Leached monomers were also quantitated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The cytotoxicity of the biomaterials was highlighted by impaired functionality and diminished viability of gMSCs. Despite being variants of the same commercial material, the two ormocers behaved differently one material having a more negative impact on cell functionality than the other. Cells appeared to attach well to all materials. Main monomer molecules were mostly released by the tested materials. For all samples, an increased elution of monomers was recorded in artificial saliva as compared with culture medium. One composite material has released nearly eight times more urethane dimetacrylate in artificial saliva than in culture medium. Significantly lower gMSC viability scores were recorded for all the investigated samples in comparison with the control.

Abstract
Aim Comparative evaluation of postoperative sensitivity (POS) among three bulk fill restorative materials (Cention N, Equia Forte, Activa™ Bioactive restorative) in Class I posterior restorations. Materials and Methods One hundred and forty-four patients having occlusal caries were arbitrarily selected and divided into three groups. Standardized Class I cavity was prepared and restored with Cention N, Equia forte, and Activa™ Bioactive restorative material. POS of restored tooth was assessed with a standardized cold test and air stimulus by air blow from the air syringe. Patient responses were assessed at an interval of 24 h, 1 week, and 1 month using a visual analog scale. Statistical analysis was performed using paired t-test, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA test, and Tukey's post hoc test using SPSS 11.0 program (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) for windows. Results The statistical analysis showed a significant difference in the clinical evaluation of POS at 24 h interval among three groups (Cention N, Activa™ Bioactive Restorative, Equia forte). However, following 1 week and 1 month, there is no significant difference in Group C (Activa™ Bioactive Restorative). Conclusion POS was seen more in Cention N contrast to Equia forte and Activa™ bioactive restorative material.

Abstract
After a brief review of current restorative materials and classifications, this article discusses the latest developments in polymer-based direct filling materials, with emphasis on products and studies available in the last 10 years. This will include the more recent bulk fill composites and self-adhesive materials, for which clinical evidence of success, albeit somewhat limited, is already available. The article also introduces the latest cutting edge research topics on new materials for composite restorations, and an outlook for the future of how those may help to improve the service life of dental composite restorations.
