Abstract
Despite major instrumental developments over the last decade, endodontic files are still not infallible. It is well known that NiTi rotary files can break without any visible sign of deformation. Instrument breakage under combined flexion-torsion loading is still common in clinical practice. Unfortunately, breakage of this type of instrument mainly occurs in narrow canals, through pinching in the apical region. When such an incident occurs, the endodontist must adopt a debris retrieval strategy that is both stressful and not guaranteed success. This study proposes a new method for experimental damage detection leading to the fracture of Ni-Ti shape memory alloy endodontic files. It is based on the acoustic emission (AE) technique and mechanical parameters measured in real-time and image analysis. It has been shown that the AE results correlate with the damage observations and torque and force measurements recorded during the tests. Having carried out numerous root canal treatment on resin blocks, it appears that this new detection and analysis technique can be used to analyze and anticipate the first signs of damage leading to endodontic file failure. The technological development of such a method, at the level of the engine itself, associated with the act in service procedure, would constitute a revolution in the field of endodontics.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the volumetric changes of two recently introduced paediatric rotary file systems in comparison with conventional hand file systems in primary maxillary canines using an ultra-high-resolution nano-computed tomography. METHODS This in vitro study was performed in extracted primary maxillary canines based on certain inclusion and exclusion criteria. Samples were prepared, and working length was determined after the pre-operative scan using a high-resolution nano-CT device (SkyScan 2214, Bruker, Kontich, Belgium). A single well-experienced paediatric dentist prepared the canals using three file systems: Kedo-S plus, Kedo-SG blue and hand K-files. All samples were subjected to post-operative scans performed similar to pre-operative scans. Image reconstruction was performed with NRecon software for 3D volumetric visualisation and analysis of the root canals. RESULTS Kedo-SG blue file systems had the highest mean difference in the canal volume (4.05%). Hand K-files had the least difference at (3.71%) of canal volume. Kedo-S plus file system had a moderate mean canal volume difference (3.82%) which is closer to hand K-files. Intergroup comparison between the three groups showed that the mean difference in canal volume was statistically significant between all three file systems (p = 0.000). CONCLUSION Within the limitations of the current study, rotary file systems produced a significant enlargement of canals as compared to hand files. Kedo-SG blue created a uniform preparation of the canal cervico-apically. Kedo-S plus files were prepared more coronally with minimal preparation apically as close to the preparation of hand files. Abstract
AIM AND BACKGROUND To compare the root canal volume in primary teeth using hand and rotary instruments and to evaluate root canal filling techniques and flow of root canal obturation materials in the postinstrumented root canal volume using spiral computed tomography (SCT). MATERIALS AND METHODS Freshly extracted 16 primary molars were randomly divided into two groups and subjected to SCT analysis before and after instrumentation. For the manual technique (group I) with eight teeth were prepared using K files, and rotary (group II) eight teeth preparation was performed with ProTaper files. The filled volume in each canal was measured using SCT, and the percentage of obturated volume was calculated. The data were statistically analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. RESULTS There was a statistically significant difference in both groups' volume of root canals enlarged. Even though both K files and the ProTaper system brought about enlarged canals after instrumentation, there was a statistically significant increase in volume after using K files in two canals. In three canals, there was a statistically significant increase in volume after using ProTaper. Irrespective of the obturation technique and materials used, there is no statistically significant difference in the volume after obturation. CONCLUSION From the results of this study, the ProTaper file system shows suitable volumetric enlargement up to an optimum level, which is needed in primary root canal walls, and is better in canal shaping, as evidenced by good postobturation volume. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE The traditional method of cleaning and shaping the root canals in permanent teeth using manual stainless-steel files can lead to undesirable curvatures in root canal morphology, making correctly filling the root canals difficult. It is also time-consuming and sometimes leads to iatrogenic errors. Rotary nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) instrumentation techniques have been developed to overcome these problems. Abstract
Aim This study was planned to evaluate and compare the cleaning efficacy of three pediatric rotary files with the standard Protaper adult file system in primary teeth using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and methods A total of 40 extracted deciduous second molars, with palatal/mesial roots having at least two-thirds of root length and an intact furcation area, were distributed randomly among four groups, with each group containing 10 teeth. Canal preparation of group I (Pro AF Baby Gold), group II (Kedo SG Blue), group III (Prime Pedo), and group IV (Protaper) was done. Pre- and postoperative CBCT images were taken. The volumetric changes of the root canals were assessed and subjected to statistical analysis using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16 and R Studio 3.1.1. Volumetric changes within the groups were analyzed using paired t-tests and between the groups using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results The comparison of mean volume difference between groups using ANOVA was statistically significant with F = 4.467, p = 0.002. A Tukey post hoc test revealed that group IV was statistically significant compared with groups I (p = 0.033) and III (p = 0.008) but was not statistically significant with group II (p = 0.170). There was no statistically significant difference in volumetric changes within the three pediatric rotary file systems. Conclusion Protaper removed more dentin than all the pediatric rotary files, but it was not statistically significant over Kedo SG Blue. Among the pediatric rotary files, Kedo SG Blue removed more dentin than Pro AF Baby Gold and Prime Pedo, but they were not statistically significant. Abstract
Background Single-visit pulpectomy (SVP) protocol with rotary files is highly recommended for the treatment of teeth with irreversible pulpitis. Various rotary endodontic files specially designed for use in the pediatric population are available. The aim is to clinically assess the parameters related to the time required for biomechanical preparation (TBMP) and quality of filling using a single file system vs a sequential multi-file system in infected primary mandibular molars. Materials and methods A total of 45 infected primary molars were allocated to three groups (two experimental groups (n = 15) and a control group. The first experimental group was instrumented using NiTi K-Flex files, the second group with a single file rotary system with variably variable (VV) taper, and the third with a sequential multi-file system with constant taper. Biomechanical preparation time was recorded and standardized digital radiograph (RVG) were taken pre- and postinstrumentation. The data recorded was sent for statistical analysis. Conclusion There is a substantial reduction of TBMP in primary molars using single file VV taper and multi-sequential file constant taper. Obturation time for all three file systems was comparable and there were no differences between the three file systems used (p > 0.05). Multi-sequential file constant taper files showed a higher probability of optimal obturations and minimal voids followed by NiTi "K-Flex" files and single file system but the difference was nonsignificant (p > 0.05). However, using a rotary in primary teeth results in better canal shape, and less TBMP leading to a better quality of treatment in less time. Abstract
Successful outcome of pulp therapy depends on good chemomechanical preparation of the canals. This is completed with the help of various upcoming rotary and hand files. However, during this preparation, there might be an apical extrusion of the debris which may result in postoperative complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the number of debris apically extruded during canal preparation using two different pediatric rotary file systems and conventional hand file systems in primary teeth. 60 primary maxillary central incisors that were extracted due to trauma or untreated dental caries with no signs of resorption were taken. Canal preparation was executed using three different file systems: Group A: Group A hand K file system, Group B Kedo S Plus, Group C Kedo SG Blue. For each of these files using the Myers and Montgomery model, the pre- and post-weight of the eppendorf tube was assessed to quantify the number of apical debris. The maximum extrusion of apical debris was noticed with the Hand K-file system. The least debris was noticed in the Kedo S Plus file system. Statistical analysis revealed that there were highly significant differences in apical extrusion and debris when comparing hand files and rotary files and also between the two rotary files used. Apical debris collection is an unavoidable outcome of canal instrumentation. Among the file systems compared, rotary files had lesser extrusion when compared to hand files. Among the rotary files, Kedo S plus showed normal extrusion compared to SG Blue.

Abstract
Introduction: This retrospective descriptive study evaluated the Scopus-indexed dental journals and their most-cited documents affiliated with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries from 2011 to 2021. Methods: Dental journals affiliated with MENA countries, their bibliometric indicators (SJR, CiteScore, SNIP, and H-index), and the 101 most cited articles of the considered journals were extracted and studied through descriptive statistics. In addition, the "citation per year" of each top 101 articles was calculated. Spearman's rho test was used for pairwise comparisons of the correlation coefficient values between each two of the considered bibliometric indicators. Results: The number of citations of the 101 most-cited papers ranged from 35 to 203. The mean (SD) citations of studied articles were 61.33 (37.58) and the median was 46. Furthermore, CiteScore had the highest significant correlation with SJR (r=0.828, P˂0.001). Moreover, the citation per year of the top 101 documents had no significant relationship with any of the journals' bibliometric indicators. Conclusion: Because journal performance and citation rate are multi-dimensional concepts, a single metric cannot express them thoroughly despite correlations between indices. "European Journal of Dentistry" from Turkey, "Saudi Dental Journal" from Saudi Arabia, and "Iranian Endodontic Journal" and "Journal of Lasers in Medical Sciences" both from Iran had the highest ranks in the SCImago portal and the highest scores in bibliometric indices amongst the MENA dental journals.

Abstract
Aim This study assesses the instrumentation time and quality of obturation of three pediatric rotary endodontic systems-GT nickel-titanium (NiTi) (Prime Pedo), controlled memory (CM) NiTi (Pro-AF-Baby Gold) and NiTi-titanium oxide (NiTi-TiO) (Kedo SG Blue). Materials and methods A total of 60 children aged 4-8 were chosen at random for the study based on inclusion criteria that required pulpectomy in any of the primary molars and were separated into three groups of 20 samples, each based on the file system employed. The instrumentation time during the preparation of the canal is recorded using a stopwatch. An expert dentist was blinded to the instrumentation type and showed the periapical radiograph, which he or she graded depending on the quality of the obturation by categorizing it as underfill, optimal fill, or overfill. The observations were then recorded, tabulated, and statistically analyzed for the results. Results The least amount of instrumentation time was needed for NiTi-TiO (group III) files, followed by NiTi-CM (group II) and NiTi-GT (group I). NiTi-TiO (group III) has the most optimally filled and least underfilled obturations among the three rotary endodontic systems mentioned. Also, NiTi-TiO (group III) and NiTi-CM (group II) have the least similar overfilled obturations when compared with NiTi-GT (Group I). Conclusion We conclude that NiTi-TiO needed the least amount of instrumentation time and generated the maximum optimally filled obturations based on our observations. Clinical significance Pediatric rotary endodontic systems are more convenient to use and reduce chairside time; thus, their use in children with behavior control issues might be more suitable. Abstract
Introduction: Preparation of root canals in deciduous molars can be challenging due to their inherent anatomy. Endodontic files were introduced recently for exclusive use in deciduous dentition. Hence, the aim of the present comparative study was to assess the cleaning efficacy of manual and rotary endodontic files in deciduous molars.
Methods and materials: Sixty canals of recently extracted deciduous molars were selected which did not have more than one-third of their root length resorbed. Following working length determination, India ink dye was injected into all the canals. They were arbitrarily allocated into two groups; Group I: Kedo-SH manual files (n=30) and Group II: Kedo-S rotary files (n=30), for the purpose of instrumentation. The root canals were cleared of debris and sections prepared. The sections were examined under a stereomicroscope under 40X magnification for removal of India ink at different thirds and given scores. Data was subjected to statistical analysis using Student t test and ANOVA. Level of significance was 5%.
Results: Both file systems resulted in superior cleaning of the coronal and apical section of the canals. The average scores for coronal and middle sections of the root canals with Kedo-SH manual files (9.5 ± 8.062; 10.75 ± 10.31, respectively) were significantly higher than that of Kedo-S rotary files (5± 6.63; 6.05 ±7.5, respectively) (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Root canals prepared with Kedo-S rotary files showed significant superiorly clean root canals than those prepared using Kedo-SH manual files.

Abstract
Aim The purpose of the present study was to comparatively evaluate the efficacy of Kedo-SG blue rotary files, manual K-files, and manual H-files in eliminating the root canal microflora of primary molars. Materials and methods Forty-five primary molars requiring pulpectomy were included in the study. Based on type of instrumentation, the teeth were randomly assigned to one of the three groups: group A: Kedo-SG blue rotary files, group B: manual H-files, and group C: manual K-files. Sterile absorbent paper points were used for sample collection and stored in sterile Eppendorf tubes containing saline as transport medium. Culturing was done on thioglycolate agar and blood agar media for the cultivation of anaerobic and aerobic microbes, respectively, and recorded as colony-forming units (CFU) using digital colony counter. Wilcoxon signed-rank test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test were performed for statistical analysis. Results Postinstrumentation, 93-96% reduction of aerobic and anaerobic microbial count was recorded in group A. Whereas, it was 87-91% reduction in group B and 90-91% reduction in group C. No statistically significant difference was noted between the three groups. Conclusion Kedo-SG blue rotary files showed a better reduction of microbes in root canals when compared to manual instrumentation. However, there was no significant difference between manual and rotary instrumentation in microbial reduction of primary root canals. How to cite this article Lakshmanan L, Jeevanandan G. Abstract
OBJECTIVES Rotational instrumentation is an alternative for the clinical practice of pediatric dentists. However, there are few records in the literature on the clinical and radiographic aspects of treated teeth over time. Compare instrumentation time and filling quality between manual (k-file) and rotary (Hyflex EDM®) files, and clinically and radiographically follow-up the treated teeth for 12 months. Moreover, the characteristics of glass ionomer restorations and their interference in the treatment prognosis over time were evaluated. METHODOLOGY In total, 40 children with pulp involvement in primary molars received treatment with Hyflex EDM® or manual rotary files, performed by an operator. Clinical and radiographic aspects were observed at different times to determine the effectiveness of each technique. RESULTS The rotary system reduced instrumentation time when compared to the use of manual files (p≤0.05), but there was no difference in filling quality between the groups (p≥0.05). Moreover, both types of instrumentation were effective for 12 months (p≥0.05), and restoration retention influenced the emergence of periapical lesions (p≤0.05). CONCLUSION Although rotary files reduce clinical time, the clinical and radiographic aspects of both techniques were similar over 12 months. Moreover, restoration retention has been shown to be related to treatment prognosis.

Abstract
Aim and objective The purpose of the study was to compare the efficiency of modified conventional root canal shaping technique versus conventional shaping technique in primary teeth. Materials and methods A total of 184 primary root canals (2 groups of 92 canals each) with two-thirds of root length were selected and randomly allocated into two different shaping techniques, i.e., Group I: conventional root canal shaping technique, Group II: modified root canal shaping technique. The quality of obturation (Coll and Sadrain, 1996) and presence or absences of voids were assessed by using radiographs. The recorded data was statistically analyzed. Results Significant difference was seen between conventional and modified conventional techniques in underfilled and optimally filled canals. Conclusion This modified cleaning and shaping technique can be considered as alternative to conventional instrumentation technique, as it improves quality of obturation and decreases the number of voids. Abstract
The objective of the present study was to evaluate and compare the dentin removal capacity of Endogal Kids and Reciproc Blue NiTi alloy endodontic reciprocating systems for root canal treatments in primary second molar teeth via a micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) scan. Materials and Methods: Sixty root canal systems in fifteen primary second molar teeth were chosen and classified into one of the following study groups: A: EK3 Endogal Kids (n = 30) (EDG) and B. R25 Reciproc Blue (n = 30) (RB). Preoperative and postoperative micro-CT scans were uploaded into image processing software to analyze the changes in the volume of root canal dentin using a mathematical algorithm that enabled progressive differentiation between neighboring pixels after defining and segmenting the root canal systems in both micro-CT scans. Volumetric variations in the root canal system and the root canal third were calculated using a t-test for independent samples or a nonparametric Mann–Whitney–Wilcoxon test. Results: Statistically significant differences (p = 0.0066) in dentin removal capacity were found between the EDG (2.89 ± 1.26 mm3) and RB (1.22 ± 0.58 mm3) study groups for the coronal root canal third; however, no statistically significant differences were found for the middle (p = 0.4864) and apical (p = 0.6276) root canal thirds. Conclusions: Endogal and Reciproc Blue NiTi endodontic reciprocating systems showed similar capacity for the removal of root canal dentin, except for the coronal root canal third, in which the Reciproc Blue NiTi endodontic reciprocating system preserved more root canal dentin tissue.

Abstract
Aim and objective To evaluate root canal transportation, centering ability ratio (CAR), remaining dentine thickness, dentinal cracks, and instrumentation time after instrumentation with different filing systems in root canals of primary teeth by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) analysis. Materials and methods Sixty prepared canals of primary teeth divided into 4 groups with 15 canals in each were prepared with NiTi K files, Proaper Next (PTN) files, OneShape (OS), and WaveOne (WO) files, respectively. Using CBCT scan, the pre- and postinstrumentation scan was done to obtain images at three levels (apical, middle, and cervical). The results obtained were statistically analyzed using SPSS 21 statistical software version. Result Significant statistical difference was found between different filing systems. Conclusion ProTaper Next files showed least canal transportation and the best centering ability was shown by OS file system. The NiTi K hand files preserved maximum remaining dentin thickness (RDT) and produced minimum dentin cracks. WO file system took least instrumentation time when compared to the other three filing systems. Clinical significance The use of rotary instruments in the pulpectomy of primary teeth represents a promising technique being advantageous for the pediatric patients by maintaining the original canal curvatures, showing greater ability to maintain dentin thickness, causing lesser dentin cracks, and reducing chair time thus favoring preparation of more conical root canals and better obturation. Abstract
Aim and objective To assess and compare the cleaning efficacy and instrumentation time of K files, ProTaper, and Kedo-S rotary files in primary molars. Materials and methods India ink was injected into 120 root canals of selected primary molars. The root canals were randomly and equally divided into three groups based on instrumentation technique: group I-K files, group II-ProTaper, and group III-Kedo-S. After instrumentation with respective method, the canals were cleared and observed under a stereomicroscope, the instrumentation time for each root canal was also measured with a stopwatch. Statistical analysis was done with one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post hoc Bonferroni. Result Kedo-S rotary files performed significantly better cleaning of the canals in the coronal and middle third than ProTaper and K files (p = 0.0001). In the apical third, the difference between the two rotary systems was not significant. The time taken for instrumentation was lowest with Kedo-S followed by ProTaper and K files. Conclusion Kedo-S pediatric rotary system showed significantly better cleaning than ProTaper rotary system and K files in cleaning primary molar root canals. Clinical relevance The anatomy and morphology of primary teeth demand a specialized file system that will overcome the shortcomings of conventional biomechanical preparation. Abstract
AIM AND OBJECTIVE To estimate the obturation quality and instrumentation time on comparing traditional hand files and two rotary file types during root canal instrumentation in deciduous molars. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty-five deciduous mandibular molars were taken and randomly allotted to three groups (n = 15). Group I: K-hand files, group II: ProTaper Gold rotary file, and group III: Kedo-SG Blue rotary files. Before and after root canal instrumentation, standardized digital radiography was taken and the instrumentation time was also noted. The recorded data were then subjected to statistical analysis utilizing SPSS Software version 22.0. To compare the instrumentation time and quality of obturation between the groups, a Chi-square test and ANOVA with the level of significance at 0.05 were employed. RESULTS There was no significant difference recorded with reference to the quality of obturation (p > 0.05). However, the difference was noticed to be statistically significant when the instrumentation time between the two rotary groups and the manual instrumentation groups was taken into account (p < 0.05). The rotary systems ProTaper Gold and Kedo-SG Blue exhibited a significantly less instrumentation time on comparing with that of the hand files. CONCLUSION Concerning the quality of obturation, all three file groups demonstrated almost a similar performance. However, there was a significant difference noticed in the instrumentation time with the use of manual instrumentation in comparison to rotary instrumentation in deciduous teeth. Abstract
PURPOSE Pulpectomy may be indicated in restorable primary teeth exhibiting irreversible pulpitis or pulpal necrosis. The purpose of this study was to compare the cleaning and shaping efficacy of NiTi systems (Reciproc® Blue and MTwo®) with manual stainless-steel instrumentation in primary molars using micro-CT analysis. METHODS Fifty-seven maxillary second primary molars were scanned using micro-CT. Teeth with three divergent roots were divided randomly (n = 15) according to instrument type (K file, MTwo®, and Reciproc® Blue). Teeth with root fusion were instrumented manually as a separate group (n = 12). Pre- and post-instrumentation micro-CT images were superimposed, and the instrumentation area (IA) and procedural complications were recorded. RESULTS No statistically significant differences in IA between file systems was observed in the non-fused teeth. The mean IA of fused roots was significantly lower than in the non-fused distobuccal (p = 0.003) and palatal (p < 0.001) roots. The root segment had a significant effect on IA (p < 0.001) and the highest mean IA was observed in the apical third. Manual instrumentation had fewer procedural complications compared with rotary systems. CONCLUSION No differences were determined in the cleaning and shaping effectiveness of all systems in non-fused teeth. Uninstrumented areas (> 60%) occurred in both non-fused and fused primary teeth with fewer procedural complications observed after manual instrumentation.

Abstract
Background. Pediatric endodontics is a field with constant evolution, resulting in the shifting of paradigms from the use of conventional hand files to rotary files for biomechanical preparation in primary teeth. Biomechanical preparation plays a crucial role in the success of root canal treatment. Primary teeth need special attention since they differ from permanent teeth in root canal morphology. Cleaning and shaping of the canals damage the root dentin, leading to dentinal cracks. Newer techniques for root canal preparation, including Ni-Ti rotary files and SAF system, have been developed for use in pediatric endodontics to overcome the drawbacks of conventional methods. The present study compared dentinal defects formed by rotary systems in primary teeth. Methods. Eighty primary teeth were included. The teeth were decoronated with a diamond disc. All the roots were inspected for any pre-existing cracks or craze lines under transmitted light under a stereomicroscope. The specimens were then divided into four groups (n=20): group 1: control, group 2: hand files (HF), group 3: ProTaper files, and group IV: SAF files. The samples were instrumented according to the group they were assigned to. Results. The HF and SAF groups exhibited fewer microcracks. Dentinal microcracks were observed in roots prepared with rotary ProTaper files. There were significant differences between HF/SAF and rotary files (P <0.05). Conclusion. Stainless steel hand K-files and SAF instruments resulted in fewer dentinal damage than the ProTaper Universal files. SAF exhibited satisfactory results with minimal or no crack formation.

Abstract
Simple Summary Untimely loss of primary molars may lead to undesirable consequences; hence, pulpectomy is considered a rational treatment approach to avoid it. Advances in root canal instrumentation by means of motorized files while treating primary teeth have reduced the chair-side time and have also exhibited better quality of obturation. This helps reduce the patient’s anxiety about pulpectomy procedures. However, root canals in primary teeth exhibit a larger perimeter and are irregular in shape, posing a challenge to currently used motorized endodontic files. Instrumenting root canals in three dimensions is the need of the hour and is vastly explored in the literature, albeit for adult dentition. The application of adaptive root canal instrumentation for pulpectomies in primary teeth is yet to be reported in the literature. Abstract This clinical trial focused on collating the instrumentation time and quality of root canal obturation in primary molars treated with three instrumentation techniques: adaptive, rotary, and manual. A triple-armed, randomized controlled clinical trial was performed on 75 primary molars requiring pulpectomy treatment, divided into three groups (n = 25 per group). The teeth in Group 1 were instrumented with an adaptive technique (XP-endo Shaper, FKG Dentaire, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland), Group 2 with pediatric rotary files (Kedo-S; D1 and E1), and Group 3 with a manual technique (hand K-files). The apical size of the final instrumentation was maintained at #30 for all groups. Instrumentation time and the grade of the root canal obturation were evaluated. Instrumentation duration was recorded, employing a digital stopwatch from the insertion of the first file until the completion of final irrigation. Obturation quality was assessed using radiographs. The criteria taken as a reference for obturation were: optimal (1 mm short of the apex), underfilled (2 mm short of the apex), or overfilled (beyond the apex). The use of an adaptive technique was associated with the lowest instrumentation time (p < 0.0001) when used for instrumenting primary molars and with the highest root canal filling quality of the three groups. The application of the new concept of adaptive instrumentation for pulpectomy of primary molars was a favorable technique, considering the significant reduction in instrumentation time and better obturation.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyze, in vitro, the reduction of Enterococcus faecalis in root canals of primary teeth after final irrigation and photodynamic therapy (PDT) use. Twenty primary molars were contaminated with Enterococcus faecalis. The teeth were randomly distributed into four groups according to the irrigation solutions and PDT use: G1 (Saline solution and no PDT use), G2 (17 % EDTA and no PDT use), G3 (Saline solution and PDT use) and G4 (17 % EDTA and PDT use). For PDT, 0.005 % toluidine blue was chosen as the photosensitizer, which was inserted in the canals with sterile paper cones. Bacterial counts were performed with a BHI test in blood agar plate, where bacteria were collected inside the canal for 30 s using sterile paper cones. The collection took place before and after the irrigation and PDT protocols. The samples were diluted, spread onto a blood agar plate and then incubated at 37 °C for 24 h. There was a reduction of the microbiota from the irrigation solutions before and after the final irrigation for all groups. It was observed a statistically significant reduction (p < 0,05) when PDT was used (97.6 % at the saline solution and 89.8 % at the 17 % EDTA) when compared to the groups with no PDT use. Our data demonstrated that PDT, according to the parameters used, increased the disinfection performance of the solutions tested in the root canals of primary teeth.

Abstract
Aim and objective A systematic review was planned to compare the clinical and radiographic success rate of pulpectomy in primary molars using a rotary system and hand files system. Study design The literature search was undertaken in electronic databases from January 2000 to December 2019 using keywords. Four hundred and forty-two studies were identified after applying limits. Three hundred and thirty-one irrelevant articles were eliminated. Among the 111 articles obtained, 90 articles were eliminated after reading the titles and abstracts. After assessing the full text, 18 articles were eliminated. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in the English language on pulpectomy of primary molars, using hand files and rotary files and with a follow-up period of 12 months were included. Results Three RCTs comparing the clinical and radiographic pulpectomy success rates using rotary and hand files instrumentation were finally selected. Qualitative assessment with RoB 2.0 showed one study had a low risk of bias and two studies had a high risk of bias. Conclusion Pulpectomy procedures in primary teeth using rotary and hand files instrumentation techniques were equally effective in terms of success rates. Abstract
Background One of the cardinal points to be considered during endodontic procedures in children is the measure of postoperative pain. Aim and objective To evaluate the quality of obturation and its effect on postoperative pain with three file systems in primary mandibular molars during 1 week follow-up. Materials and methods The study was conducted as a double-blinded randomized controlled trial. The participants between 6 years and 9 years old requiring a pulpectomy were recruited for the trial. Forty-five primary mandibular molars were randomly allocated into 15 teeth each in Hand K-files; Kedo-SH and Kedo-SG Blue groups. Wong Baker's FACES Pain Rating Scale was used for assessing the postoperative pain in the children for 1 week. Pearson's Chi-square test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Mann-Whitney U test were used for analyzing the data statistically. Results Optimal fillings were observed more in the Kedo-SG Blue group (80.0%) compared to the other two groups (p < 0.017). On intergroup analysis, the Kedo-SG Blue group reported less postoperative pain compared to Kedo-SH group on day 1 while on day 7 no postoperative pain was experienced in either of the groups. Less postoperative pain was reported by the children in whom the canals were optimally filled compared to overfilling and underfilling. Conclusion Kedo-SG Blue resulted in less postoperative pain when compared to Kedo-SH and hand K-files, whereas optimally filled children experienced less postoperative pain compared to overfilling and underfilling. Clinical significance A felicitous pediatric dental practice includes appropriate assessment and management of postoperative pain in children. Hence, the present study is important in highlighting the affiliation of postoperative pain with quality of obturation following an endodontic intervention in children. Abstract
BACKGROUND The hand and rotary instruments are used for cleaning and shaping of root canals during biomechanical preparation in primary teeth. AIM To determine clinical differences of hand versus rotary root canal instrumentation in primary teeth. DESIGN Comprehensive searches were made in four electronic databases [MEDLINE (via PubMed), EMBASE, Google Scholar, and The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials] till March 2020, and prospective studies that met the inclusion criteria were included. The primary outcome was instrumentation time, whereas the secondary outcomes were quality of obturation, obturation time, and clinical and radiographic success. From 604 screened studies, eleven studies qualified for meta-analysis. The random-effect model and generic inverse variance approach were used for meta-analysis. RESULTS There was significant decrease in instrumentation time [MD-5.00 minutes (95% CI: 3.05-6.94), P < .00001, moderate evidence quality] and obturation time [MD-0.43 minutes (95% CI: 0.15-0.71), P = .003, low evidence quality] with rotary instrumentation. Optimal quality of obturation was achieved in significantly more number of teeth [risk ratio (RR) = 0.71(95% CI: 0.53-0.95),P = .02, moderate to high evidence quality] with rotary instrumentation. Similar clinical and radiographic success was observed in hand and rotary instrumentation techniques. CONCLUSION Significant reduction in instrumentation time of five minutes was observed using rotary instrumentation with moderate quality evidence.

Abstract
Background Pulpectomy has gained popularity in the pediatric dental practice for preserving the primary teeth in its position until exfoliation. There has been a paradigm shift from using manual instrumentation to rotary instrumentation for canal preparation in primary teeth. While studies show that there is a reduction in the instrumentation time with the use of rotary instruments which in turn influences the behavior of the child, its direct effect on the behavior of the children has not been evaluated. Aim To compare the behavior of the children during manual and rotary instrumentation for pulpectomy in the primary molars. Materials and methods A single-blinded randomized clinical trial was conducted in 88 children in any one of the mandibular primary molars indicated for pulpectomy. The canal preparation was done using manual K files and rotary ProTaper (44 children in each group). The influence of these instrumentation techniques on the children was assessed with three different scales- Frankl Behavior Rating Scale; Venham Interval Rating Scale; Wong Baker FACES Pain Scale for evaluating the behavior, anxiety, and the pain experienced by the children, respectively during canal preparation. Results A total of 88 participants, comprising 50 females and 38 males, participated in the study. An equal distribution of the participants with respect to age (p = 0.064), gender (p = 0.389), and teeth (p = 0.877) was observed between the groups. More cooperative behavior (p < 0.001); lesser anxiety levels (p < 0.001); lower intensity of pain (p < 0.001) were recorded in the children instrumented using Rotary files. Conclusion The present study concludes that it is preferable to use rotary instrumentation for primary canal preparation in pediatric practice as it has a more positive influence on the behavior of the children, which eventually determines the success of the treatment. Clinical significance With rise in the use of rotary files for pulpectomy in primary teeth, the present paper demonstrates the influence of rotary instrumentation technique for canal preparation during pulpectomy on the behavior of the children in a dental chair. This paper throws light for the pedodontists to effectively perform pulpectomy in children with ease without leaving a psychological impact on the children. Abstract
Pulpectomy is one of the most important procedures in maintaining the necrotic primary teeth until physiologic exfoliation. In clinical practice, time efficacy is invaluable, especially in pediatric endodontics, where unpredictability and difficulty of root canal morphology adds to a clinician's challenge. The success of a pulpectomy procedure mainly depends upon the biomechanical preparation of the root canal systems. With the advent of NiTi rotary files, adult endodontic procedures have been rendered easy, but its popularity in pedodontic practice is limited. Abstract
Background The success of endodontic treatment depends on the chemomechanical preparation of the tooth. However, the debris produced during canal preparation may extrude through the apical foramen causing postoperative complications. Aim The aim of this study is to compare the apical debris extrusion during root canal preparation in primary anterior teeth using hand files, rotary ProTaper files, and rotary Kedo-S files. Materials and Methods Forty-five freshly extracted primary canine with mature apices and a single canal were randomly divided into three groups for instrumentation as follows (n = 15): Group 1: hand files; Group 2: rotary ProTaper files; and Group 3: rotary Kedo-S files. Myers and Montgomery experimental model was used for this study. Apically extruded debris collected in a preweighed Eppendorf tubes was placed in the incubator at 70°C for 5 days. The weight of the debris collected was determined by subtracting the pre- and post-instrumentation weight of the Eppendorf tubes. The data collected were analyzed using the analysis of variance and Tukey's post-hoc tests. Results Hand files produced more apical debris extrusion than ProTaper and Kedo-S files (P < 0.05) while Kedo-S produced the least (P < 0.05). Conclusion All instrumentation systems cause apical debris extrusion. Kedo-S produced less apical debris extrusion when compared to the hand files and ProTaper files.

Abstract
Endodontic instruments play a vital role during root canal preparation. Biomechanical preparation in primary teeth is performed using the adult endodontic files. There are various disadvantages during use of adult endodontic files in primary teeth namely the length and taper of the files. Recently, an exclusive paediatric endodontic file system has been introduced for cleaning and shaping of primary root canals. This short communication describes the use of exclusive Kedo-SH manual and Kedo-S rotary file system in primary teeth.

Abstract
Objective: In permanent dentition, different rotary systems are used for canal cleaning and shaping. Rotary instrumentation in pediatric dentistry is an emerging concept. A very few studies have compared the efficiency of rotary instrumentation for canal preparation in primary teeth. Hence, this study was performed to compare the obturation quality and instrumentation time of two rotary files systems – Protaper, Mtwo with hand files in primary molars. Materials and Methods: Forty-five primary mandibular molars were randomly allotted to one of the three groups. Instrumentation was done using K-files in Group 1; Protaper in Group 2; and Mtwo in Group 3. Instrumentation time was recorded. The canal filling quality was assessed as underfill, optimal fill, and overfill. Statistical analysis was done using Chi-square, ANOVA, and post hoc Tukey test. Results: No significant difference was observed in the quality of obturation among three groups. Intergroup comparison of the instrumentation time showed a statistically significant difference between the three groups. Conclusion: The use of rotary instrumentation in primary teeth results in marked reduction in the instrumentation time and improves the quality of obturation.

Abstract
Aim The purpose of this study was to clinically compare and evaluate the efficiency of pediatric rotary file kedo-S with hand K files and ProTaper rotary files during root canal preparation of primary anterior teeth. Materials and methods Forty-five children requiring pulpectomy in any one of the vital primary anterior teeth were included. The children were randomly assigned to one of the three groups (15 per group), where the instrumentation was done using hand files in group 1, ProTaper rotary files in group 2 and Kedo-S rotary files in group 3. The instrumentation time, pain perception and the quality of obturation was assessed, and the statistical analysis was done using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software. Results Statistically decreased instrumentation time was observed with the use of Kedo-S rotary file system (p < 0.05) when compared to the other two file systems. The intensity of pain experienced during instrumentation was also lesser with Kedo-S rotary file (p < 0.05). No significant difference was noted in the obturation quality with the exclusive pediatric rotary file when compared with the other two groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion Kedo-S rotary files decrease the instrumentation time and intensity of the pain perception during canal instrumentation which positively influences the cooperation of the children. Clinical significance Use of exclusive pediatric rotary files (Kedo-S) for root canal preparation in primary teeth reduces the fatigue of both the children and the dentists. Also, influences the behavior of the children in a more positive way thereby instilling a positive dental attitude. Abstract
Aim To develop a scientifically current and evidence based protocol on the efficacy of rotary and hand root canal instrumentation in primary teeth. Materials and methods Previous randomized control trials were used for the current review. Hand search and online search engines of PUBMED and Google Scholar were used to search English language articles with human subjects published up to December 2016. Results After screening of the abstracts and articles, based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria a total of 13 articles were included in the systematic review. Conclusion Rotary instrumentation shows equivalent cleaning efficiency than hand files depending on the system of instrumentation and techniques used. Abstract
Background Techniques with adequate accuracy of working length determination along with shorter duration of treatment in pulpectomy procedure seems to be essential in pediatric dentistry. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of root canal length measurement with Root ZX II apex locator and rotary system in pulpectomy of primary teeth. Material and Methods In this randomized control clinical trial complete pulpectomy was performed on 80 mandibular primary molars in 80, 4-6-year-old children. The study population was randomly divided into case and control groups. In control group conventional pulpectomy was performed and in the case group working length was determined by electronic apex locator Root ZXII and instrumented with Mtwo rotary files. Statistical evaluation was performed using Mann-Whitney and Chi-Square tests (P<0.05). Results There were no significant differences between electronic apex locator Root ZXII and conventional method in accuracy of root canal length determination. However significantly less time was needed for instrumenting with rotary files (P=0.000). Conclusions Considering the comparable results in accuracy of root canal length determination and the considerably shorter instrumentation time in Root ZXII apex locator and rotary system, it may be suggested for pulpectomy in primary molar teeth. Abstract
Tissue repair is an essential process that reestablishes tissue integrity and regular function. Nevertheless, different therapeutic factors and clinical conditions may interfere in this process of periapical healing. This review aims to discuss the important therapeutic factors associated with the clinical protocol used during root canal treatment and to highlight the systemic conditions associated with the periapical healing process of endodontically treated teeth. The antibacterial strategies indicated in the conventional treatment of an inflamed and infected pulp and the modulation of the host's immune response may assist in tissue repair, if wound healing has been hindered by infection. Systemic conditions, such as diabetes mellitus and hypertension, can also inhibit wound healing. The success of root canal treatment is affected by the correct choice of clinical protocol. These factors are dependent on the sanitization process (instrumentation, irrigant solution, irrigating strategies, and intracanal dressing), the apical limit of the root canal preparation and obturation, and the quality of the sealer. The challenges affecting the healing process of endodontically treated teeth include control of the inflammation of pulp or infectious processes and simultaneous neutralization of unpredictable provocations to the periapical tissue. Along with these factors, one must understand the local and general clinical conditions (systemic health of the patient) that affect the outcome of root canal treatment prediction.

Abstract
Introduction Pulp therapy in primary teeth has been performed using various instrumentation techniques. However, the conventional instrumentation technique used for root canal preparation in primary teeth is hand instrumentation. Various Nickel-Titanium (Ni-Ti) instruments are available to perform efficient root canal preparation in primary teeth. These Ni-Ti instruments has been designed to aid in better root canal preparation in permanent teeth but are rarely used in primary teeth. It is necessary to assess the feasibility of using these adult rotary files with a modified sequence in primary teeth. Aim To compare the quality of obturation and instrumentation time during root canal preparation using hand files and modified rotary file systems in primary molars. Materials and Methods Forty-five primary mandibular molars were randomly assigned to three experimental groups (n=15). Group I was instrumented using k-hand files, Group II with S2 ProTaper universal file and Group III with 0.25 tip 4% taper K3 rotary file. Standardized digital radiographs were taken before and after root canal instrumentation. Root canal preparation time was also recorded. Statistical analysis of the obtained data was done using SPSS Software version 17.0. An intergroup comparison of the instrumentation time and the quality of obturation was done using ANOVA and Chi-square test with the level of significance set at 0.05. Results No significant differences were noted with regard to the quality of obturation (p=0.791). However, a statistically significant difference was noted in the instrumentation time between the three groups (p<0.05). ProTaper rotary system had significantly lesser instrumentation time when compared to that of K3 rotary system and hand file system. Conclusion The hand files, S2 ProTaper Universal and K3 0.25 tip 4% taper files systems performed similarly with respect to the quality of obturation. There was a significant difference in instrumentation time with manual instrumentation compared to the modified rotary file systems in primary teeth.

Abstract
Abstract The aim of the study was to evaluate canal preparation in primary molars with hand files, ProTaper Next and Self-Adjusting File (SAF) by 2D and 3D micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) analysis. Canals of 24 primary molars were prepared with hand files (HF), ProTaper Next (PTN) and SAF (n=8/group). The teeth were scanned before and after root canal preparation and the pre- and postoperative micro-CT images were reconstructed. Changes in 2D (area, perimeter, roundness, minor and major diameter) and 3D [volume, surface area, structure model index (SMI)] morphological parameters, as well as canal transportation and lateral perforations were evaluated (Kruskal-Wallis and ANOVA; a=0.05). SAF presented smaller changes in minor diameter, volume and surface area compared with HF and PTN (p<0.05). PTN presented more circular canals after preparation. 3D analysis revealed greater transportation in HF. PTN and SAF presented more centered canal preparation, especially in curved areas. SAF and HF presented, respectively, the lowest (0.05±0.02 and 0.07±0.04) and highest (0.14±0.11 and 0.29±0.17) apical transportation. There were fewer lateral perforations in SAF (4.2%) and PTN (7.7%) than in HF (47.8%) (p<0.05). In primary molars, mechanical preparation showed better shaping ability than hand files, promoting more centered preparations and lower occurrence of lateral perforations and canal transportation. Clinical Relevance: Manual instrumentation is still reported as the main choice in the primary teeth preparation; however, studies have shown limitations in its use. The morphological characteristics of primary teeth and the limited knowledge of shaping procedures in these teeth using mechanical preparation become a challenge for clinical practice and might impair the predictability of endodontic treatment.

Abstract
Nickel-Titanium (Ni-Ti) instrument are widely used for root canal preparation in permanent tooth compared to primary teeth. Hand instrumentation technique remains the conventional method for root canal preparation in primary teeth. The time taken for root canal preparation with the conventional method is more resulting in patients and clinicians fatigue. Recently Ni-Ti rotary files designed for permanent tooth has been used for root canal preparation in primary teeth. Using rotary instruments for primary tooth pulpectomies resulted in better and predictable root canal filling. This article presents case reports of pulpectomy treatment performed using Kedo-S an exclusive paediatric Ni-Ti rotary files. The advantages and disadvantages in use of Ni-Ti rotary files in primary teeth are discussed in this article.

Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the efficacy of two retreatment rotary systems in the removal of Gutta-percha (GP) and sealer from the root canal walls with or without solvent. Materials and Methods: Forty-eight extracted human mandibular first premolars were prepared and obturated with GP and AH Plus sealer. Samples were then randomly divided into four groups. Group I was retreated with MtwoR rotary system without solvent, Group II was retreated with MtwoR rotary system with Endosolv R as the solvent, Group III with D-RaCe rotary system without solvent, and Group IV with D-RaCe rotary system and Endosolv R solvent. The cleanliness of canal walls was determined by stereomicroscope (×20) and AutoCAD software. Kruskal–Wallis test and Mann–Whitney U-test were used to compare the data. Results: Results showed that none of the retreatment systems used in this study was able to completely remove the root canal filling material. D-RaCe with or without solvent showed significantly (P > 0.05) less filling material at all levels compared to MtwoR with/without solvent. Conclusion: Within the limitation of the current study, D-RaCe rotary retreatment system is more effective in removing filling material from root canal walls when compared to MtwoR rotary retreatment system.

Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the cleaning efficacy and instrumentation time between manual Hedstrom files (H-files) and rotary Mtwo files in primary molar root canals. Materials and methods: A total of 90 primary root canals were selected using standardized radiographs. The canals were injected with India ink with 30 gauge insulin syringe and divided into three groups. Group I―30 root canals instrumented with H-files, group II―30 root canals instrumented with Mtwo files, and group III―control group in which no canal instrumentation was done. The teeth were cleared in various solutions and then observed under a stereomicroscope. Results: No significant difference was seen in cleaning efficacy between H-files and Mtwo files in coronal, middle, and apical thirds of the root canal. The instrumentation time recorded for H-files (3.41 ± 0.38 minutes) was significantly less than that of Mtwo files (4.81 ± 0.52). Conclusion: Although there was no significant difference in cleaning capacity, further studies should be carried out using the single file systems. Abstract
AIM To compare and evaluate the volumetric analysis of pre- and post-root canal instrumentation in primary teeth using hand and rotary files and also to analyse the volume of root canal filling. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 20 primary teeth were divided into two groups randomly and subjected to spiral computed tomography (SCT) analysis before and after instrumentation. For manual technique (Group 1), teeth were prepared using K files and rotary (Group 2) preparation was performed with Mtwo files. Volumetric enlargement was calculated using Osirix software. Root canals were then filled with rotary lentulospiral using zinc oxide-eugenol cement (ZOE). The filled volume in each canal was measured using SCT and the percentage of obturated volume was calculated. The data were statistically analysed using paired t-tests. RESULTS There was a statistically significant difference in the volume of root canal enlarged in both the groups. Rotary files showed significant increase in the volume compared to K files. Mtwo instrumented root canals showed good obturated volume compared to manual technique, although voids were common in both the groups. CONCLUSION Rotary root canal instrumentation may be indicated for utilization in primary teeth, for enhancing root canal preparation and good quality of root canal filling.

Abstract
Background. Efficient canal preparation is the key to successful root canal treatment. This study aimed to assess the cleaning and shaping ability, preparation time and file deformation of rotary, reciprocating and manual instrumentation in canal preparation of primary molars. Methods. The mesiobuccal canals of 64 extracted primary mandibular second molars were injected with India ink. The samples were randomly divided into one control and three experimental groups. Experimental groups were instrumented with K-file, Mtwo in continuous rotation and Reciproc in reciprocating motion, respectively. The control group received no treatment. The files were discarded after four applications. Shaping ability was evaluated using CBCT. After clearing, ink removal was scored. Preparation time and file fracture or deformation was also recorded. Data were analyzed with SPSS 19 using chi-squared, Fisher’s exact test, Kruskal-Wallis and post hoc tests at a significance level of 0.05. Results. Considering cleanliness, at coronal third Reciproc was better than K-file (P < 0.001), but not more effective than Mtwo (P = 0.080). Furthermore, Mtwo leaved the canal cleaner than K-file (P = 0.001). In the middle third, only Reciproc exhibited better cleaning efficacy than K-file (P = 0.005). In the apical third, no difference was detected between the groups (P = 0.794). Regarding shaping ability, no differences were found between Reciproc and Mtwo (P = 1.00). Meanwhile, both displayed better shaping efficacy than K-file (P < 0.05). Between each two groups, there were differences in preparation time (P < 0.05), with Reciproc being the fastest. No file failure occurred. Conclusion. Fast and sufficient cleaning and shaping could be achieved with Mtwo and especially with Reciproc.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The intention of root canal preparation is to reduce infected content and create a root canal shape allowing for a well condensed root filling. Therefore, it is not necessary to remove excessive dentine for successful root canal preparation and concern must be taken not to over instrument as perforations can occur in the thin dentinal walls of primary molars. AIM This study was done to evaluate the time preparation, the risk of lateral perforation and dentine removal of the stainless steel K file and K3 rotary instrumentation in primary teeth. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy-five primary molars were selected and divided into three groups. Using spiral computed tomography the teeth were scanned before instrumentation. Teeth were prepared using a stainless steel K file for manual technique. All the canals were prepared up to file size 35. In K3 rotary files (.02 taper) instrumentation was done up to 35 size file. In K3 rotary files (.04 taper) the instrumentation was done up to 25 size file and simultaneously the instrumentation time was recorded. The instrumented teeth were once again scanned and the images were compared with the images of the uninstrumented canals. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS Data was statistically analysed using Kruskal Wallis One-way ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U-Test and Pearson's Chi-square Test. RESULTS K3 rotary files (.02 taper) removed a significantly less amount of dentine, required less instrumentation time than a stainless steel K file. CONCLUSION K3 files (.02 taper) generated less dentine removal than the stainless steel K file and K3 files (.04 taper). K3 rotary files (.02 taper) were more effective for root canal instrumentation in primary teeth.

Abstract
Endodontic treatment in primary teeth can be challenging and time consuming, especially during canal preparation, which is considered one of the most important steps in root canal therapy. The conventional instrumentation technique for primary teeth remains the "gold-standard" over hand instrumentation, which makes procedures much more time consuming and adversely affects both clinicians and patients. Recently nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) rotary files have been developed for use in pediatric endodontics. Using rotary instruments for primary tooth pulpectomies is cost effective and results in fills that are consistently uniform and predictable. This article reviews the use of nickel-titanium rotary files as root canal instrumentation in primary teeth. The pulpectomy technique is described here according to different authors and the advantages and disadvantages of using rotary files are discussed.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Need for the study: The most important procedure for a successful endodontic treatment is the cleaning and shaping of the canal system. Understanding the internal anatomy of teeth provides valuable information to the clinician that would help him achieve higher clinical success during endodontic therapy. AIMS To evaluate by computed tomography-the internal anatomy of mandibular second primary molars with respect to the number of canals, cross-sectional shape of canals, cross-sectional area of canals and the root dentin thickness. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 31 mandibular second primary molars were subjected to computed-tomographic evaluation in the transverse plane, after mounting them in a prefabricated template. The images, thus, obtained were analyzed using De-winter Bio-wizard® software. RESULTS All the samples demonstrated two canals in the mesial root, while majority of the samples (65.48%) demonstrated two canals in the distal root. The cross-sectional images of the mesial canals demonstrated a round shape, while the distal canals demonstrated an irregular shape. The root dentin thickness was highly reduced on the distal aspect of mesial and mesial aspect of distal canals. CONCLUSION The mandibular second primary molars demonstrated wide variation and complexities in their internal anatomy. A thorough understanding of the complexity of the root canal system is essential for understanding the principles and problems of shaping and cleaning, determining the apical limits and dimensions of canal preparations, and for performing successful endodontic procedures.
