Abstract
Osteomas are benign lesions that arise from the proliferation of either cancellous or compact bone. They can be categorized as extra-skeletal, peripheral, or central. Extra-skeletal soft tissue osteomas often develop within muscles, while peripheral and central osteomas emerge from the periosteum and endosteum, respectively. Osteomas are usually asymptomatic and rarely affect the jaws. In the mandible, they typically occur in the posterior regions. In this report, we present the case of a 46-year-old female with a mandibular peripheral osteoma located in the anterior region and treated by total resection via median cervicotomy.

Abstract
Osteomas are benign, slow-growing, differentiated tumours, which are primarily located in the region of maxillofacial skeleton. Osteoma involving the soft tissues with no bony attachments is a very rare event. A 68-year-old woman with comorbidities (diabetes mellitus type II, primary hypertension, pacemaker in situ) presented with a painless solid mass in the thenar region of her right palm, which appeared almost 1 and half years ago and showed a progressive enlargement in the last few months. Under regional anaesthesia, an excisional biopsy was performed and the histopathological evaluation of the lesion confirmed the diagnosis of soft tissue osteoma. The postoperative follow-up period was uneventful without any complication.

Abstract
Rationale: Osteoma is a benign osteogenic lesion with a slow growth, characterized by the proliferation of either cancellous or compact bone. Peripheral osteoma which is known to arise from the periosteum is a rare entity in the mandible. This case report emphasizes on the extraoral approach used for surgical excision of peripheral osteoma of the mandible. Patient Concerns: This article presents three cases of peripheral osteoma in females who presented with extraoral swelling near the inferior border of the mandible. The swelling was noticed incidentally and had mild or no pain. Diagnosis: Diagnosis was made after correlating clinical and radiographical findings and confirmed by histopathology. Treatment: Extraoral submandibular incision was used for the excision of peripheral osteoma in all the cases. Outcomes: Patients were followed up for 3 months without any signs of recurrence. Take-away Lessons: Every case is unique, and it is wise to take uncommon surgical approach keeping in view the patient's benefit at large.

Abstract
Osteomas are benign slow-growing osteogenic lesions of unknown aetiology which can be central, peripheral or extraskeletal. Peripheral osteomas of the maxilla are very uncommon. We report a 72-year-old female patient who presented to the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental School of Athens, Athens, Greece, in 2015 with swelling of the palate following a tooth extraction. Clinical and radiographical features were indicative of a solitary peripheral osteoma of the hard palate. An excisional biopsy and histological examination of the lesion confirmed the diagnosis. No complications occurred during the postoperative period and there was no evidence of recurrence at a one-year follow-up.

Abstract
Osteoma is a slow growing benign tumor result from either cancellous or compact bone proliferation. Osteoma of the jaws may arise from the surface of the bone as a sessile mass located either peripherally or endosteally. This paper presents a rare case report of peripheral cancellous osteoma, involving the buccal cortical plate and alveolar process of the right maxilla of a 37-year-old female patient.

Abstract
Solitary peripheral osteoma is a benign, slow-growing osteogenic tumor arising from craniofacial bones such as the sinus, temporal, or jaw bones but rarely originating from the mandible. Osteoma consists of compact or cancellous bone that may be of peripheral, central, or extraskeletal type. Peripheral osteoma arises from the periosteum and is commonly a unilateral, pedunculated mushroom-like mass. Solitary peripheral osteomas are characterized by well-defined, rounded, or oval radiopaque mass in the computed tomography. Although multiple osteomas of the jaws are a hallmark of Gardner's syndrome (familial adenomatous polyposis), nonsyndromic cases are typically solitary. Herein, we report a rare case of solitary peripheral osteoma of the angle of the mandible in a 27-year-old female with clinical, radiologic, and histopathologic findings.

Abstract
Osteomas are benign tumors which are composed of mature compact or cancellous bone. They can be either peripheral, central or extraskeletal.
The peripheral osteoma arises from surface of the bone (periosteal) whereas the central osteoma arises from the bone medullary (endosteal) and the extra-skeletal
soft tissue osteoma usually develops within the muscle. Osteomas are most commonly found in the skull and facial bones. Multiple osteomas may be associated with
Gardner’s Syndrome. These lesions are usually painless and recurrence is uncommon after local excision. In this case report clinical, radiographic findings and
treatment of a 24-year-old male patient with peripheral osteoma in the anterior mandible are presented.

Abstract
Osteoma is a benign osteogenic neoplasm microscopically consisting of proliferation of cancellous or compact bone. Peripheral osteomas (PO) arise from the periosteum and are quite uncommon in the jaw bones. POs of mandible are considered as rare entity and very few cases have been reported in the literature. The pathogenesis of PO is unclear. Some investigators consider it a true neoplasm, while others believe it as a developmental anomaly, a reactive mechanism due to trauma or infection. The purpose of this article is to present the clinical, radiographic, surgical and histological features of a solitary peripheral osteoma of the mandible in a 43-year-old woman and to review the literature for PO located in the mandible.
