Abstract
Due to the advanced studies on stem cells in developmental biology, the roles of stem cells in the body and their phenotypes in related diseases have not been covered clearly. Meanwhile, with the intensive research on the mechanisms of stem cells in regulating various diseases, stem cell therapy is increasingly being attention because of its effectiveness and safety. As one of the most widely used stem cell in stem cell therapies, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation shows huge advantage in treatment of leukemia and other blood-malignant diseases. Besides, due to the effect of anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory, mesenchymal stem cells could be a potential therapeutic strategy for variety infectious diseases. In this review, we summarized the effects of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and its components on different types of adult stem cells and their downstream signaling pathways. Also, we reviewed the roles of different kinds of stem cells in various disease models caused by S. aureus, providing new insights for applying stem cell therapy to treat infectious diseases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cicatricial alopecia (CA) refers to various conditions that result in permanent hair loss. Treatment of CA has always been challenging. Regarding immune-mediated pathophysiology for many CA subtypes, the administration of Janus kinase (JAK) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors have potentiated the treatments of CA. METHODS After a thorough systematic search in PubMed/Medline, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, ClinicalTrials.gov, and WHO ICTRP, a total of 3,532 relevant records were retrieved and screened. Accordingly, 56 studies met the eligibility criteria and entered the review. RESULTS Among JAK inhibitors, oral tofacitinib was the most frequently reported and the most effective treatment in improving signs and symptoms of CA with minimal adverse effects (AEs). Baricitinib was another JAK inhibitor with sustained improvement while causing mild AEs. As a TNF inhibitor, adalimumab induced a rapid and stable improvement in signs and symptoms in most patients with rare, tolerable AEs. Thalidomide was the other frequently reported yet controversial TNF inhibitor, which caused a rapid and significant improvement in the condition. However, it may result in mild to severe AEs, particularly neuropathies. Infliximab is a TNF inhibitor with mostly favorable results, albeit in a few patients caused treatable dermatological AEs. Apremilast and certolizumab pegol caused an incomplete amelioration of signs and symptoms with no AEs. Lenalidomide is another TNF inhibitor that can induce temporary improvement in CA with probable AEs. It is noteworthy that utilizing adalimumab, infliximab, etanercept, golimumab, and an anonymous TNF inhibitor has induced paradoxical CA and other A.E.s in some patients. CONCLUSION Recent studies have recommended JAK and TNF inhibitors, especially oral tofacitinib and adalimumab, as a new modality or adjuvant therapy to previous medications for primary CA. Nonetheless, monitoring AEs on a regular basis is suggested, and further extensive studies are required before definitive recommendations.

Abstract
Folliculitis decalvans (FD) is a rare neutrophilic cicatricial alopecia of the scalp that manifest with inflammation, pruritus, pustules, and tufted hair. Most dermatologist treat FD with topical or oral antibiotics. We recommend considering treatment with biologics to preserve and stabilize the ongoing inflammatory process in moderate to severe FD.

Abstract
Purpose Folliculitis decalvans (FD) is a difficult-to-treat, localized scarring alopecia characterized by an expanding area of chronically inflamed purulent plaques or masses. Current treatment modalities vary and often result in only temporary remission. There are no reports of surgical therapies for FD. Here, we describe FD treatment using surgical excision and second-intention healing aided by guarded high-tension sutures. Methods Five patients (one woman and four men) with histologically confirmed FD were treated by surgical lesion excision. All wounds were allowed to heal via second-intention. Guarded high-tension sutures were employed to minimize tissue tears while aiding and guiding wound contraction. Results All wounds healed with a 47-83% spatial contraction of the maximum wound diameters. Three patients healed entirely by second-intention, while two required a minor skin graft to close the wound completely. No disease recurrence was noted at 10-24 months. Conclusion Surgical excision with second-intention healing aided by guarded high-tension sutures effectively treated small and extensive FD lesions with no recurrence at long-term follow-up. To our knowledge, this is the first report of successful surgical treatment of FD.

Abstract
Folliculitis decalvans is a chronic inflammatory skin disease leading to scarring alopecia. Management of this disabling disease is difficult and no treatment is currently approved. Current knowledge regarding the pathogenesis of folliculitis decalvans suggests the benefit of using anti-tumour necrosis factor-α. This pilot study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of anti-tumour necrosis factor-α for management of folliculitis decalvans. A single-centre retrospective pilot study included patients with refractory folliculitis decalvans treated by tumour necrosis factor-α inhibitors. An Investigator's Global Assessment (IGA) score was designed and validated to assess the efficacy of the therapy. Response to treatment was considered good to excellent when an IGA ≤ 2 was obtained at month 12. Eleven patients were included, with a mean time from diagnosis of folliculitis decalvans to the introduction of infliximab (n = 9) or adalimumab (n = 2) of 8.55 ± 1.26 years. Nine patients had failed on at least 2 lines of systemic therapies before starting anti-tumour necrosis factor-α. The median IGA score at baseline was 3. At the end of follow-up, 5 patients were considered responders. Overall, the safety profile of anti-tumour necrosis factor-α was good. The results suggest that the clinical benefit of anti-tumour necrosis factor-α is obtained after at least 6 months of treatment. However, further prospective studies are needed to confirm these results.

Abstract
Acne vulgaris is a chronic, inflammatory, skin condition that involves the pilosebaceous follicles and is influenced by a variety of factors including genetics, androgen-stimulation of sebaceous glands with abnormal keratinization, colonization with Cutibacterium acnes (previously called Propionibacterium acnes), and pathological immune response to inflammation. Acne can occur at all ages and this discussion focuses on the first three decades of life. Conditions that are part of the differential diagnosis and/or are co-morbid with acne vulgaris are also considered. Acne in the first year of life includes neonatal acne (acne neonatorum) that presents in the first four weeks of life and infantile acne that usually presents between 3 and 6 months of the first year of life with a range of 3 to 16 months after birth. Acne rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory, skin condition that is distinct from acne vulgaris, typically presents in adults, and has four main types: erythemato-telangiectatic, papulopustular, phymatous and ocular. Treatment options for acne vulgaris include topical retinoids, topical benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics (topical, oral), oral contraceptive pills, isotretinoin, and others. Management must consider the increasing impact of antibiotic resistance in the 21st century. Psychological impact of acne can be quite severe and treatment of acne includes awareness of the potential emotional toll this disease may bring to the person with acne as well as assiduous attention to known side effects of various anti-acne medications (topical and systemic). Efforts should be directed at preventing acne-caused scars and depigmentation on the skin as well as emotional scars within the person suffering from acne.
