Abstract
This review discusses multiple aspects of follicular lymphoma (FL), including etiology, treatment challenges, and future perspectives. First, we delve into the etiology of FL, which involves a variety of pathogenic mechanisms such as gene mutations, chromosomal abnormalities, immune escape, immune system dysregulation, familial inheritance, and environmental factors. These mechanisms provide the context for understanding the diversity and complexity of FL. Second, we discuss the challenges faced when treating FL, particularly treatment resistance. Therapeutic resistance is a common problem in treatment, but by delving into the mechanisms of resistance, scientists have looked for strategies to combat it, including developing new drugs, improving treatments, and exploring combination therapy strategies. We also emphasize the breakthroughs in molecular biology, especially the study of targeting the BCL2 gene, which provides a new direction for targeted therapy in FL. Immunotherapy, small molecule targeted drugs, and individualized treatment strategies are also promising for the future treatment of FL. Finally, we look to the future, including research on therapeutic resistance, in-depth studies of genetics and gene expression, applications of gene editing and precision medicine, and clinical trials of new treatments. These lines of research offer additional opportunities for treating FL, and despite the challenges, the future is promising. This literature review provides comprehensive and integrated information for the in-depth understanding of FL and relevant treatment approaches.

Abstract
Approximately 30-40% of malignant lymphomas are classified as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), with 30% of DLBCL cases manifesting as extranodal lymphomas. Among these extranodal DLBCLs, primary DLBCL in oral lesions, particularly in the lips, is rare. While the treatment methods, chemotherapy assessment, and prognosis for nodal and extranodal DLBCLs are generally similar, diagnostic challenges can lead to delayed therapeutic intervention. We herein present a recent case of primary extranodal DLBCL in the lips that was swiftly diagnosed and managed using rituximab-containing chemotherapies. Our experience underscores the important role that hematologists play in identifying the possibility of oral hematological tumors, thereby allowing for a rapid diagnosis and timely intervention.

Abstract
Primary oesophageal lymphoma is an exceptionally rare cancer originating in the esophagus, distinct from more common oesophageal malignancies. Dawson's criteria has been the mainstay for diagnosis for such entities. However, recognizing primary oesophageal lymphoma is particularly challenging due to its rarity, diverse clinical presentations, and non-specific radiological and endoscopic features. These factors often lead to diagnostic delays, complicating timely treatment and resulting in poor patient outcomes. We hereby present a challenging case and literature review about this rare malignancy. A 78-year-old male was referred to Gastroenterology for evaluation of dysphagia. Initial esophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) revealed an oesophageal ulcer with features consistent with oesophageal candidiasis. A follow-up OGD identified an oesophageal stricture. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry of biopsy samples confirmed a diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). A staging CT was completed, and an oesophageal mass was shown extending into the mediastinum. The patient re-presented with worsening dysphagia, renal dysfunction, and hypercalcemia. Although lymphoma was confirmed, to ensure an appropriate regimen is commenced, a repeat OGD was recommended by the Hematology team. The patient's rapid deterioration necessitated pre-phase steroid treatment and management of tumor lysis syndrome. Before R-CHOP chemotherapy could begin, the patient deteriorated further. Following a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting and discussions with the patient and family, it was decided to manage the symptoms with palliative intent. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges posed by primary oesophageal lymphoma, emphasizing the importance of considering this rare malignancy in the differential diagnosis of oesophageal strictures, particularly in elderly patients. Aggressive disease progression complicates managing DLBCL in older patients. Moreover, this patient population has other co-morbidities that would preclude treatment options at the outset. Further studies are needed to establish optimal diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for this rare condition.

Abstract
Lymphomas are malignant proliferations of B or T lymphocytes, classified as Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphomas. The malignant proliferation of lymphoid cells mainly occurs in lymph nodes, but in a small number of cases, it can be extranodal. The oral cavity represents a very rare primary extra-nodal location for non-Hodgkin lymphoma and can pose a diagnostic challenge for the dentist. We report the case of a woman in her 50s presenting a primary oral manifestation of a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The patient was complaining of an inflammatory swelling of the vestibular gingiva of the left maxillary premolars, which had been growing for four months. She had consulted several dentists who suspected a dental cause, without any clear argument in favor of a periodontal or endodontic etiology. Periodontal treatments were initiated, and multiple courses of antibiotics were prescribed without improvement in the clinical presentation. Finally, the patient was referred to the hospital where a biopsy of the gingival lesion was performed. Histological and immunohistochemical examinations led to the diagnosis of a DLBCL. The patient was referred to a hematology-oncology department and received polychemotherapy treatment until complete remission. Initial oral manifestations of lymphoma may mimic dental, endodontic, or periodontal pathology. Appropriate oral clinical and radiological examinations should exclude local causes. If these examinations are inconsistent with the clinical presentation, systemic diseases should be considered, and a prompt biopsy of the lesion should be performed to obtain a definitive diagnosis. Early detection of a primary oral lymphoma can improve the prognosis with timely multidisciplinary medical management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND With a significant increase in both incidence and mortality, oral cancer-particularly oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)-is one of the main causes of death in developing countries. Even though there is evidence of advances in surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, the overall survival rate for patients with OSCC has improved, but by a small percentage. This may be due, on the one hand, to the fact that the disease is diagnosed when it is at a too-advanced stage, when metastases are already present. METHODS This review explores the therapeutic potential of natural herbal products and their use as adjuvant therapies in the treatment of oral cancer from online sources in databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Research Gate, Scopus, Elsevier). RESULTS Even if classic therapies are known to be effective, they often produce many serious side effects and can create resistance. Certain natural plant compounds may offer a complementary approach by inducing apoptosis, suppressing tumor growth, and improving chemotherapy effectiveness. The integration of these compounds with conventional treatments to obtain remarkable synergistic effects represents a major point of interest to many authors. This review highlights the study of molecular mechanisms and their efficiency in in vitro and in vivo models, as well as the strategic ways in which drugs can be administered to optimize their use in real contexts. CONCLUSIONS This review may have a significant impact on the oncology community, creating new inspirations for the development of more effective, safer cancer therapies with less toxic potential.

Abstract
Cancer is a leading cause of fatality worldwide. Due to the heterogeneity of cancer cells the effectiveness of various conventional cancer treatment techniques is constrained. Thus, researchers are diligently investigating therapeutic approaches like immunotherapy for effective tumor managements. Immunotherapy harnesses the inherent potential of patient's immune system to achieve desired outcomes. Within the realm of immunotherapy, CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T) cells, emerges as a revolutionary innovation for cancer therapy. The process of CAR-T cell therapy entails extracting the patient's T cells, altering them with customized receptors designed to specifically recognize and eradicate the tumor cells, and then reinfusing the altered cells into the patient's body. Although there has been significant progress with CAR-T cell therapy in certain cases of specific B-cell leukemia and lymphoma, its effectiveness is hindered in hematological and solid tumors due to the challenges such as severe toxicities, restricted tumor infiltration, cytokine release syndrome and antigen escape. Overcoming these obstacles requires innovative approaches to design more effective CAR-T cells, which require a competent and diverse team to develop and implement. This comprehensive review addresses numerous therapeutic issues and provides a strategic solution while providing a deep understanding of the structural intricacies and production processes of CAR-T cells. In addition, this review explores the practical aspects of CAR-T cell therapy in clinical settings.

Abstract
Blood cancers, such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), are aggressive neoplasms that are characterized by undesired clinical courses with dismal survival rates. The objective of the current work is to study the expression THRAP3, STMN1 and GNA13 in DLBCL, BL and AML, and to investigate if these proteins are implicated in the prognosis and progression of the blood cancers. Isolation of normal blood cells was performed using lymphoprep coupled with gradient centrifugation and magnetic beads. Flow-cytometric analysis showed high quality of the isolated cells. Western blotting identified THRAP3, STMN1 and GNA13 to be overexpressed in the blood cancer cells but hardly detected in normal blood cells from healthy donors. Consistently, investigations performed using genotype-tissue expression (GTEx) and gene expression profiling interactive analysis (GEPIA) showed that the three proteins had higher mRNA expression in various cancers compared with matched normal tissues (p ≤ 0.01). Furthermore, the up-regulated transcript expression of these proteins was a feature of short overall survival (OS; p ≤ 0.02) in patients with the blood cancers. Interestingly, functional profiling using gProfiler and protein-protein interaction network analysis using STRING with cytoscape reported THRAP3 to be associated with cancer-dependent proliferation and survival pathways (corrected p ≤ 0.05) and to interact with proteins (p = 1 × 10-16) implicated in tumourigenesis and chemotherapy resistance. Taken together, these findings indicated a possible implication of THRAP3, STMN1 and GNA13 in the progression and prognosis of the blood cancers. Additional work using clinical samples of the blood cancers is required to further investigate and validate the results reported here. Abstract
Interstitial pneumonia (IP) is a significant adverse effect of chemotherapy in B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) patients. This study aimed to identify the clinical characteristics, risk factors, and treatment outcomes associated with IP in these patients. A retrospective review of 615 NHL patients treated at the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University from 2016 to 2021 identified 50 patients with IP post-chemotherapy as the case group. A propensity score matched control group of 55 patients without pneumonia was established. Clinical profiles, risk factors, and treatment outcomes were evaluated. The IP incidence was 8.13% (50/615) in B-cell NHL patients. Multivariate analysis revealed liposomes, elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) as independent risk factors for IP. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analyses suggested that alterations in LDH and ESR could predict IP risk. The conclusion suggests that IP is associated with liposomal doxorubicin-induced lung injury and other cytotoxic chemotherapy, possibly due to Rituximab (RTX)-induced immune imbalance. Given the potential of IP with pulmonary infections, high-risk patients may need prophylactic antibiotics and appropriate corticosteroid therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Immunotherapy has emerged as a novel strategy for cancer treatment following surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. Immune checkpoint blockade and Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapies have been successful in clinical trials. Cancer cells evade immune surveillance by hijacking inhibitory pathways via overexpression of checkpoint genes. The Cluster of Differentiation 47 (CD47) has emerged as a crucial checkpoint for cancer immunotherapy by working as a "don't eat me" signal and suppressing innate immune signaling. Furthermore, CD47 is highly expressed in many cancer types to protect cancer cells from phagocytosis via binding to SIRPα on phagocytes. Targeting CD47 by either interrupting the CD47-SIRPα axis or combing with other therapies has been demonstrated as an encouraging therapeutic strategy in cancer immunotherapy. Antibodies and small molecules that target CD47 have been explored in pre- and clinical trials. However, formidable challenges such as the anemia and palate aggregation cannot be avoided because of the wide presentation of CD47 on erythrocytes. AIM OF VIEW This review summarizes the current knowledge on the regulation and function of CD47, and provides a new perspective for immunotherapy targeting CD47. It also highlights the clinical progress of targeting CD47 and discusses challenges and potential strategies. KEY SCIENTIFIC CONCEPTS OF REVIEW This review provides a comprehensive understanding of targeting CD47 in cancer immunotherapy, it also augments the concept of combination immunotherapy strategies by employing both innate and adaptive immune responses.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer is among the leading causes of death globally, posing a significant economic burden on the healthcare sector. Among other types of cancer in Indonesia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) ranks fifth in terms of prevalence. Chemotherapy for NHL patients is funded by a national health insurance scheme through the National Healthcare Insurance and Social Security/Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN). OBJECTIVE This study aimed to analyze cost burden of chemotherapy for JKN patients with NHL. DATA SOURCE A retrospective cross-sectional observational study was conducted among NHL patients receiving chemotherapy at a hospital in East Java, Indonesia in 2021. Data were collected from medical record documents and a total of 44 patient visits were recorded in this study. DATA SUMMARY The result showed that patient visits were dominated by females (55%), a significant proportion were aged 31 to 40 years (32%), and the majority were JKN participants in the Contribution Assistance Recipients/Penerima Bantuan Iuran (PBI) category (64%). The most chemotherapy regimen given was R-CHOP (68%) and the mean total cost for NHL patients was Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) 5,178,146. The highest mean cost burden was on chemotherapy drugs with a value of IDR 6,333,315. Based on the regimen, the highest cost burden was R-CHOP-Bleo with a mean cost of IDR 8,764,091. CONCLUSION Based on the results, the highest cost burden for chemotherapy among JKN patients with NHL in Indonesia was attributed to R-CHOP-Bleo regimen with a mean of IDR 8,764,091.

Abstract
Lymphomas of the oral and oropharyngeal regions are rather uncommon, and diagnosis can be challenging and confusing due to the multiple histological subgroups. Lymphomas are the third most common type of tumor in the head and neck region and are brought on by the lymphoreticular system. The two forms of lymphoma are Hodgkin's lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Herein, we present a case report of oropharyngeal lymphoma. The female patient reported with a complaint of swelling over the palatal region for two to three months. An ulceroproliferative lesion was evident over the posterior palatal region. We diagnosed reactive lymphadenitis based on an incisional biopsy. To confirm the diagnosis and rule out other conditions, a punch biopsy followed by immunohistochemical studies were done. Features suggestive of activated B-cell-diffuse large B-cell lymphoma were confirmed. Among malignant lymphomas, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is the most prevalent variety. Much progress has been made in recent years in understanding the molecular pathophysiology of this disease. In this case report, we aim to correlate the clinical presentation, histology features and immunohistochemical significance in order to promote early discovery, diagnosis, and treatment for a better prognosis of the patient.

Abstract
Extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) afflicting the head and neck region is rare, accounting for only about 5%. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of NHL affecting the oral cavity. Due to its variable clinical presentation and non-pathognomic course, it can be easily misdiagnosed with overlapping characteristics to common oral pathologies. In the present case, the authors report an unusual presentation of DLBCL and highlight the significant diagnostic challenge encountered by the clinician. In our case, osteonecrosis of the maxilla with soft tissue swelling misleads the diagnosis of chronic osteomyelitis. However, further, work-up was pursued, and the patient was managed successfully with chemotherapy and is currently disease-free for the past 1 year. An accurate clinico-radiological diagnosis with histopathological confirmation is emphasized to deliver a potentially curative treatment in a timely manner.

Abstract
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) includes a diverse group of hematological malignancies. The common site for extranodal involvement of NHL is the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), with the stomach being the most prevalent site. The appendix is a very unusual site of involvement in NHL. This case report describes an uncommon instance of an appendicular mass in an elderly female who complained of vomiting for two weeks, as well as abdominal pain, and was radiologically suspected to have appendicular malignancy. A right hemicolectomy was done, and she was diagnosed with extranodal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma involving the appendix. Postoperatively, she also developed thrombo-occlusive disease in her right lower limb, with right foot dry gangrene, for which thromboembolectomy was done. Later, a below-knee amputation was carried out. Lymphoma associated with thrombophilia is a rare presentation and not many cases have been reported in the literature. We present this case here on account of the rarity of lymphoma involving the appendix with associated thrombophilia.

Abstract
The rapid development of high-throughput sequencing in recent years has facilitated great progress in the molecular-targeted therapy of hematological malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. BCL-2 inhibitors are among the most important molecular-targeted agents. Immunotherapy for hematologic malignancy has rapidly increased in popularity in recent years and has been proven to improve the overall survival rate. However, few clinical studies have investigated combination therapy with BCL-2 inhibitors and immunotherapies, such as immune molecule-targeted drugs or immune cell adoptive therapy. In this review, we discuss the drug discovery process, current clinical application status, and resistance and tolerance issues associated with BCL-2 inhibitors. We emphasize their important role in regulating the immune system and propose that the combination of BCL-2 inhibitors with immunotherapy may be one of the most promising treatment methods for hematologic malignancies.

Abstract
The activated B cell (ABC) subset of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is characterized by chronic B-cell receptor signaling and associated with poor outcomes when treated with standard therapy. In ABC-DLBCL, MALT1 is a core enzyme that is constitutively activated by stimulation of the B-cell receptor or gain-of-function mutations in upstream components of the signaling pathway, making it an attractive therapeutic target. We discovered a novel small-molecule inhibitor, ABBV-MALT1, that potently shuts down B-cell signaling selectively in ABC-DLBCL preclinical models leading to potent cell growth and xenograft inhibition. We also identified a rational combination partner for ABBV-MALT1 in the BCL2 inhibitor, venetoclax, which when combined significantly synergizes to elicit deep and durable responses in preclinical models. This work highlights the potential of ABBV-MALT1 monotherapy and combination with venetoclax as effective treatment options for patients with ABC-DLBCL.

Abstract
Purpose Lymphoma, the most predominant neoplastic disorder, is divided into Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma classifications. Immunotherapeutic modalities have emerged as essential methodologies in combating lymphoid malignancies. Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells exhibit promising responses in chemotherapy-resistant B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma cases. Methods This comprehensive review delineates the advancement of CAR-T cell therapy as an immunotherapeutic instrument, the selection of lymphoma antigens for CAR-T cell targeting, and the conceptualization, synthesis, and deployment of CAR-T cells. Furthermore, it encompasses the advantages and disadvantages of CAR-T cell therapy and the prospective horizons of CAR-T cells from a computational research perspective. In order to improve the design and functionality of artificial CARs, there is a need for TCR recognition investigation, followed by the implementation of a quality surveillance methodology. Results Various lymphoma antigens are amenable to CAR-T cell targeting, such as CD19, CD20, CD22, CD30, the kappa light chain, and ROR1. A notable merit of CAR-T cell therapy is the augmentation of the immune system's capacity to generate tumoricidal activity in patients exhibiting chemotherapy-resistant lymphoma. Nevertheless, it also introduces manufacturing impediments that are laborious, technologically demanding, and financially burdensome. Physical, physicochemical, and physiological limitations further exacerbate the challenge of treating solid neoplasms with CAR-T cells. Conclusion While the efficacy and safety of CAR-T cell immunotherapy remain subjects of fervent investigation, the promise of this cutting-edge technology offers valuable insights for the future evolution of lymphoma treatment management approaches. Moreover, CAR-T cell therapies potentially benefit patients, motivating regulatory bodies to foster international collaboration.

Abstract
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) of the lacrimal sac is a rare, yet clinically significant entity within the spectrum of ocular malignancies. While primary lacrimal sac lymphoma is uncommon, it poses unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to its anatomical location and potential for aggressive behavior. Despite advancements being made in the current understanding and treatment of NHL, research that specifically addresses the involvement of the lacrimal sac is currently lacking. Thus, the present review aimed to provide insight into the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic modalities, histopathological features, treatment strategies and prognosis of lacrimal sac NHL. Through a methodical analysis of previous literature, the present review highlights the diverse spectrum of NHL subtypes that affect the lacrimal sac, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, extranodal marginal zone lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma and follicular lymphoma. Moreover, the present review discusses the role of advanced imaging techniques in accurate staging and treatment planning, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography-CT. The present review also discusses evolving treatment approaches, such as surgical intervention, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, combinations of the aforementioned treatments and targeted therapy. In addition, the present review highlights the significance of multidisciplinary collaboration in attaining optimal outcomes for individuals with lacrimal sac NHL. The present review aimed to provide a basis for 'further investigations into novel treatment modalities and prognostic markers that may aid in guiding personalized management strategies, ultimately improving outcomes for patients with NHL.

Abstract
While NHL commonly affects lymph nodes, peritoneal lymphomatosis causing ascites is rare in pediatric patients. We present a unique case of DLBC lymphoma in a Peruvian child presenting as ascites associated with peritoneal lymphomatosis. The 11-year-old boy was admitted with ascites and dyspnea. Physical examination revealed collateral circulation, abdominal distension, and diminished breath sounds. Investigations led to a suspected diagnosis of peritoneal tuberculosis; however, a laparoscopic biopsy showed granulomatous infiltration consistent with high-grade diffuse B-cell lymphoma. The peritoneal lymphomatosis causing ascites is uncommon, and its initial presentation as peritoneal symptoms is even rarer. Differential diagnosis between peritoneal tuberculosis and DLBCL involvement can be challenging due to both shared signs and symptoms. Staging systems, such as the International Pediatric NHL Staging System, aid in determining the extent of the disease. DLBCL has a good prognosis, with treatment regimens such as the LMB-89 protocol showing high overall survival rates. Awareness of DLBCL's atypical presentations is crucial for timely diagnosis and management in the pediatric population. To conclude, children with ascites represent a diagnostic challenge posed by overlapping symptoms with other conditions, such as tuberculosis, and the need for a comprehensive approach to rule out different etiologies. Additionally, it is important the prompt treatment to avoid complications.

Abstract
We conducted a hospital-based case-control study to explore the association between proximity to various land use types and childhood leukemia and lymphoma. This research involved 428 cases of childhood leukemia and lymphoma (2016-2021), along with a control group of 428 children aged 1-15 in Tehran. We analyzed the risk of childhood cancer associated with land use by employing logistic regression adjusted for confounding factors such as parental smoking and family history. The odds ratio (OR) for children with leukemia and lymphoma residing within 100 m of the nearest highway was 1.87 (95% CI = 1.00-3.49) and 1.71 (95% CI = 1.00-2.93), respectively, in comparison to those living at a distance of 1000 m or more from a highway. The OR for leukemia with exposure to petrol stations within 100 m was 2.15 (95% CI = 1.00-4.63), and for lymphoma it was 1.09 (95% CI = 0.47-2.50). A significant association was observed near power lines (OR = 3.05; 95% CI = 0.97-9.55) within < 100 m for leukemia. However, no significant association was observed between power lines and the incidence of childhood lymphoma. There was no association between bus stations, major road class 2, and the incidence of childhood leukemia and lymphoma. In conclusion, our results suggest a possible association between the incidence of childhood leukemia and proximity to different urban land uses (i.e., highways and petrol stations). This study is the first step in understanding how urban land use affects childhood leukemia and lymphoma in Tehran. However, comprehensive studies considering individual-level data and specific pollutants are essential for a more nuanced understanding of these associations.

Abstract
Background Lymphomas are malignant lymphocyte neoplasms that globally account for 10% of cancers in individuals aged <20 years. Malignant lymphomas are divided into Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Despite the availability of many therapeutic modalities for lymphoma, such as Brentuximab vedotin, Nivolumab, and Pembrolizumab, it is still necessary to identify appropriate strategies with minimal side effects. Immunotherapy is a promising approach, exemplified by targeting JAK/STAT3 signaling, which can inhibit tumor growth and enhance antitumor immune responses. Hence, STAT3 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 3) is a promising therapeutic target. PD-L1 (programmed death-ligand 1), an immune checkpoint molecule, is used as a frontline treatment for various cancers. This study aims to determine STAT3 expression and its correlation with PD-L1 expression in NHL and HL to serve as a basis for further research on anti-STAT3 and its combination with other therapy targets. Methods Samples were obtained from paraffin blocks of patients with confirmed diagnoses of NHL and HL, and then immunohistochemical staining was carried out with PD-L1 and STAT3 antibodies. The collected data were then analyzed using SPSS. Results Among the 10 HL patients, no patients (0%) expressed STAT3, while nine patients (90%) expressed PD-L1. Among the 10 NHL patients, 1 patient (10%) expressed STAT3, while six patients (60%) expressed PD-L1. There were no significant differences in STAT3 expression and PD-L1 expression between HL patients and NHL patients. There was no correlation between STAT3 and PD-L1 expression in HL and NHL because almost all STAT3 expressions were negative. Conclusion Although this study revealed no differences between STAT3 and PD-L1 expression in HL and NHL and no significant correlation between STAT3 and PD-L1 expression in HL and NHL, this may serve as the basis for understanding the role of STAT3 and PD-L1 in the regulation of HL and NHL, which may be useful for further research targeting STAT3 and PD-L1 immunotherapy in HL and NHL.

Abstract
Naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids are a fascinating class of natural biaryl compounds. They show characteristic mono- and dimeric scaffolds, with chiral axes and stereogenic centers. Since the appearance of the last comprehensive overview on these secondary plant metabolites in this series in 1995, the number of discovered representatives has tremendously increased to more than 280 examples known today. Many novel-type compounds have meanwhile been discovered, among them naphthylisoquinoline-related follow-up products like e.g., the first seco-type (i.e., ring-opened) and ring-contracted analogues. As highlighted in this review, the knowledge on the broad structural chemodiversity of naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids has been decisively driven forward by extensive phytochemical studies on the metabolite pattern of Ancistrocladus abbreviatus from Coastal West Africa, which is a particularly "creative" plant. These investigations furnished a considerable number of more than 80-mostly new-natural products from this single species, with promising antiplasmodial activities and with pronounced cytotoxic effects against human leukemia, pancreatic, cervical, and breast cancer cells. Another unique feature of naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids is their unprecedented biosynthetic origin from polyketidic precursors and not, as usual for isoquinoline alkaloids, from aromatic amino acids-a striking example of biosynthetic convergence in nature. Furthermore, remarkable botanical results are presented on the natural producers of naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids, the paleotropical Dioncophyllaceae and Ancistrocladaceae lianas, including first investigations on the chemoecological role of these plant metabolites and their storage and accumulation in particular plant organs.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Primary extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (PE-NHL) of the head and neck is the second common site of extranodal lymphoma, accounting for approximately one-third of all extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (E-NHL). However, in recent years, large-scale PE-NHL case studies in China and worldwide are rare and not comprehensive enough. This work analyzed the clinical manifestations, pathological features, immunophenotypes and diagnosis of PE-NHL, as well as the factors affecting the treatment and prognosis. METHODS A retrospective study was performed on 74 patients who were diagnosed with head and neck PE-NHL and treated for the first time. The clinical manifestations, pathological features, and immunophenotypes were summarized, and the factors related to the treatment and prognosis were analyzed. RESULTS The most common site of this disease was the Waldeyer's ring, followed by the nasal cavity. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma was the most common type, followed by extranodal NK T-cell lymphoma nasal type. The 1-year, 2-year, and 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) rates were 76.4%, 67.9%, and 59.3%. The 1-year, 2-year, and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 89.4%, 85.6%, and 63.2%. ECOG score ≥ 2, Ann Arbor stage III or IV and IPI risk stratification identifying patients as the high-risk group were independent risk factors affecting the OS of patients with PE-NHL of the head and neck. CONCLUSIONS The most common site of PE-NHL in these Chinese patients was the Waldeyer's ring, but the incidence in the nasal cavity was higher than that reported in Western countries. Radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy had better efficacy than chemotherapy alone, and the prognosis depended on the ECOG score and clinical stage. IPI had a better prognostic value in patients in the high-risk group of head and neck PE-NHL.

Abstract
Primary Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma of the breast is a rare presentation of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. In this report, we present the case of primary small lymphocytic lymphoma of the breast in a 65-year-old female who presented with an abnormal breast ultrasound significant for a nodule of the right breast consistent with BI-RADS 4, indicating follow-up with ultrasound-guided biopsy for further diagnostic evaluation. The patient had no prior history of extramammary lymphoma or widespread disease. A sample of the breast mass was obtained via ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy and the pathology report revealed low-grade B-cell Lymphoma. After discussion with medical oncology and the explanation of risks, benefits and alternatives to surgery, a lumpectomy was performed, and the final pathology report of the mass revealed primary low-grade B-cell lymphocytic lymphoma of the breast. On follow up, the PET scan was unremarkable and showed no evidence of abnormal glucose metabolism or adenopathy.

Abstract
Conditioning regimens employed in autologous stem cell transplantation have been proven useful in various hematological disorders and underlying malig nancies; however, despite being efficacious in various instances, negative consequences have also been recorded. Multiple conditioning regimens were extracted from various literature searches from databases like PubMed, Google scholar, EMBASE, and Cochrane. Conditioning regimens for each disease were compared by using various end points such as overall survival (OS), progression free survival (PFS), and leukemia free survival (LFS). Variables were presented on graphs and analyzed to conclude a more efficacious conditioning regimen. In multiple myeloma, the most effective regimen was high dose melphalan (MEL) given at a dose of 200/mg/m2. The comparative results of acute myeloid leukemia were presented and the regimens that proved to be at an admirable position were busulfan (BU) + MEL regarding OS and BU + VP16 regarding LFS. In case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), BU, fludarabine, and etoposide (BuFluVP) conferred good disease control not only with a paramount improvement in survival rate but also low risk of recurrence. However, for ALL, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy was preferred in the context of better OS and LFS. With respect to Hodgkin's lymphoma, mitoxantrone (MITO)/MEL overtook carmustine, VP16, cytarabine, and MEL in view of PFS and vice versa regarding OS. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients were administered MITO (60 mg/m2) and MEL (180 mg/m2) which showed promising results. Lastly, amyloidosis was considered, and the regimen that proved to be competent was MEL 200 (200 mg/m2). This review article demonstrates a comparison between various conditioning regimens employed in different diseases.

Abstract
Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHLs) are a heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative malignancies that are very rarely seen in the lung. Although they generally have a favorable prognosis, the clinical symptoms and most efficient methods of diagnosis have not yet been clearly defined. This report highlights an interesting case wherein a 75-year-old male who presented with complaints of fever, cough, and generalized weakness for three weeks was diagnosed and treated as a case of pneumonia. He did not respond to conventional treatment with antibiotics and antipyretics. Hence, computed tomography of the thorax was done which showed consolidation in the right lower lobe along with a few enlarged right hilar nodes. To evaluate this unresolved pneumonia, he was further evaluated with a radial endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and biopsy, which helped in arriving at a diagnosis of NHL. This case illustrates the significance of advanced interventions such as radial EBUS to identify the exact etiology of the lesions. This is the first case to document the ultrasound images of NHL in the lung, obtained using a radial EBUS.

Abstract
AIMS To understand treatment patterns, healthcare resource utilization (HCRU), and the economic burden of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in elderly adults in the US. MATERIALS AND METHODS This retrospective database analysis utilized US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Medicare fee-for-service administrative claims data from 2015 to 2020 to describe DLBCL patient characteristics, treatment patterns, HCRU, and costs among patients aged ≥66 years. Patients were indexed at DLBCL diagnosis and required to have continuous enrollment from 12 months pre-index until 3 months post-index. HCRU and costs (USD 2022) are reported as per-patient per-month (PPPM) estimates. RESULTS A total of 11,893 patients received ≥1-line (L) therapy; 1,633 and 391 received ≥2 L and ≥3 L therapies, respectively. Median (Q1, Q3) age at 1 L, 2 L, and 3 L initiation, respectively, was 76 (71, 81), 77 (72, 82), and 77 (72, 82) years. The most common therapy was R-CHOP (70.9%) for 1 L and bendamustine ± rituximab for 2 L (18.7%) and 3 L (17.4%). CAR T was used by 14.8% of patients in 3 L. Overall, 39.6% (1 L), 42.1% (2 L), and 47.8% (3 L) of patients had all-cause hospitalizations. All-cause mean (median [Q1-Q3]) costs PPPM during each line were $22,060 ($20,121 [$16,676-$24,597]) in 1 L, $30,027 ($20,868 [$13,416-$31,016]) in 2 L, and $47,064 ($25,689 [$15,555-$44,149]) in 3 L, with increasing costs driven primarily by inpatient expenses. Total all-cause 3 L mean (median [Q1-Q3]) costs PPPM for patients with and without CAR T were $153,847 ($100,768 [$26,534-$253,630]) and $28,466 ($23,696 [$15,466-$39,107]), respectively. CONCLUSIONS No clear standard of care exists in 3 L therapy for older adults with relapsed/refractory DLBCL. The economic burden of DLBCL intensifies with each progressing line of therapy, thus underscoring the need for additional therapeutic options.

Abstract
Lymphoma is the eighth most common type of cancer worldwide. Currently, lymphoma is mainly classified into two main groups: Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), with NHL accounting for 80% to 90% of the cases. NHL is primarily divided into B, T, and natural killer (NK) cell lymphoma. Nanotechnology is developing rapidly and has made significant contributions to the field of medicine. This review summarizes the advancements of nanobiotechnology in recent years and its applications in the treatment of NHL, especially in diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL), primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL), and follicular lymphoma (FL). The technologies discussed include clinical imaging, targeted drug delivery, photodynamic therapy (PDT), and thermodynamic therapy (TDT) for lymphoma. This review aims to provide a better understanding of the use of nanotechnology in the treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Abstract
Human body cells are stem cell (SC) derivatives originating from bone marrow. Their special characteristics include their capacity to support the formation and self-repair of the cells. Cancer cells multiply uncontrollably and invade healthy tissues, making stem cell transplants a viable option for cancer patients undergoing high-dose chemotherapy (HDC). When chemotherapy is used at very high doses to eradicate all cancer cells from aggressive tumors, blood-forming cells and leukocytes are either completely or partially destroyed. Autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is necessary for patients in those circumstances. The patients who undergo autologous transplants receive their own stem cells (SCs). The transplanted stem cells first come into contact with the bone marrow and then undergo engraftment, before differentiating into blood cells. ASCT is one of the most significant and innovative strategies for treating diseases. Here we focus on the treatment of Hodgkin's lymphoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and AL amyloidosis, using ASCT. This review provides a comprehensive picture of the effectiveness and the safety of ASCT as a therapeutic approach for these diseases, based on the currently available evidence.

Abstract
Dual cyclooxygenase 2/15-lipoxygenase inhibitors constitute a valuable alternative to classical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and selective COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) inhibitors for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, as well as preventing the cancer. Indeed, these latter present diverse side effects, which are reduced or absent in dual-acting agents. In this review, COX-2 and 15-LOX (15-lipoxygenase) pathways are first described in order to highlight the therapeutic interest of designing such compounds. Various structural families of dual inhibitors are illustrated. This study discloses various structural families of dual 15-LOX/COX-2 inhibitors, thus pave the way to design potentially-active anticancer agents with balanced dual inhibition of these enzymes.

Abstract
In immunotherapy with T cells genetically modified to express chimeric antigen receptors (CAR), autologous lymphocytes are extracted from the patient, genetically modified to obtain CAR-T cells, and reintroduced into the patient to attack cancer cells. The success of this therapy has been achieved in the area of CD19-positive leukemias and lymphomas, being approved for the treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and multiple myeloma. CARs are proteins that combine antibody specificity with T-cell cytotoxicity. The most common toxicities associated with therapy were not predicted by preclinical testing and include cytokine release syndrome, neurotoxicity, and cytopenias. These toxicities are usually reversible. One of the main challenges facing the field is the high economic cost that therapy entails, so the search for ways to reduce this cost must be a priority. In addition, other challenges to overcome include the situation that not all patients are supplied with the product and the existence of long waiting times for the start of therapy. The aim of this review is to present the development of the structure of CAR-T cells, the therapies approved to date, the toxicity associated with them, and the advantages and limitations that they present as immunotherapy.

Abstract
Sphingosine kinase 1 (SK1) is a key sphingolipid enzyme that is upregulated in several types of cancer, including lymphoma which is a heterogenous group of malignancies. Treatment for lymphoma has improved significantly by the introduction of new therapies; however, subtypes with tumor protein P53 (p53) mutations or deletion have poor prognosis, making it critical to explore new therapeutic strategies in this context. SK1 has been proposed as a therapeutic target in different types of cancer; however, the effect of targeting SK1 in cancers with p53 deletion has not been evaluated yet. Previous work from our group suggests that loss of SK1 is a key event in mediating the tumor suppressive effect of p53. Employing both genetic and pharmacological approaches to inhibit SK1 function in Trp53KO mice, we show that targeting SK1 decreases tumor growth of established p53KO thymic lymphoma. Inducible deletion of Sphk1 or its pharmacological inhibition drive increased cell death in tumors which is accompanied by selective accumulation of sphingosine levels. These results demonstrate the relevance of SK1 in the growth and maintenance of lymphoma in the absence of p53 function, positioning this enzyme as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of tumors that lack functional p53.

Abstract
Recent developments of assisted reproduction techniques turned possible to avoid the infertility consequences of oncologic treatments, but fertility preservation (FP) has been somewhat neglected in women with hematologic diseases undergoing gonadotoxic treatments. For these specific cases, the current options for FP include the cryopreservation of embryos, mature oocytes and ovarian tissue, and oocyte in-vitro maturation. We intend to make patients and clinicians aware of this important and relevant issue, and provide hematologists, assisted reproduction physicians and patients, with updated tools to guide decisions for FP. The physicians of the units responsible for female FP should always be available to decide on the best-individualized FP option in strict collaboration with hematologists. With a wide range of options for FP tailored to each case, a greater level of training and information is needed among clinicians, so that patients proposed to gonadotoxic treatments can be previously advised for FP techniques in hematological conditions. ABBREVIATED ABSTRACT: Recent developments of assisted reproduction techniques turned possible to preserve the fertility of women with hematologic diseases undergoing gonadotoxic treatments. Current options for fertility preservation in women with hematologic diseases are presented. It is imperative to offer fertility preservation to all women before starting any gonadotoxic treatment and in some cases after treatment. Fertility preservation methods enable to later achieve the desired pregnancy.

Abstract
Primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the orbit is a rare diagnosis that accounts for less than 1% of all non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) cases. We present here the case of a middle-aged woman with a past medical history of intellectual delay and hypothyroidism who presented with a large diffusely infiltrating mass of the left orbit. A biopsy of the lesion during the patient's hospitalization confirmed a diagnosis of diffuse, large B-cell lymphoma. Due to extensive local invasion, she was deemed a poor surgical candidate. While inpatient, she was started on systemic chemotherapy and discharged with close follow-up planned with the oncologic and surgical teams.

Abstract
Lymphomas are a heterogeneous group of pathologies that result from clonal proliferation of lymphocytes. They are classified into Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma; the latter develops as a result of B, T, or NK cells undergoing malignant transformation. It is believed that diet can modulate cellular redox state and that oxidative stress is implicated in lymphomagenesis by acting on several biological mechanisms; in fact, oxidative stress can generate a state of chronic inflammation through the activation of various transcription factors, thereby increasing the production of proinflammatory cytokines and causing overstimulation of B lymphocytes in the production of antibodies and possible alterations in cellular DNA. The purpose of our work is to investigate the results of in vitro and in vivo studies on the possible interaction between lymphomas, oxidative stress, and diet. A variety of dietary regimens and substances introduced with the diet that may have antioxidant and antiproliferative effects were assessed. The possibility of using nutraceuticals as novel anticancer agents is discussed; although the use of natural substances in lymphoma therapy is an interesting field of study, further studies are needed to define the efficacy of different nutraceuticals before introducing them into clinical practice.

Abstract
Rare diseases collectively exact a high toll on society due to their sheer number and overall prevalence. Their heterogeneity, diversity, and nature pose daunting clinical challenges for both management and treatment. In this review, we discuss recent advances in clinical applications of gene therapy for rare diseases, focusing on a variety of viral and non-viral strategies. The use of adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors is discussed in the context of Luxturna, licenced for the treatment of RPE65 deficiency in the retinal epithelium. Imlygic, a herpes virus vector licenced for the treatment of refractory metastatic melanoma, will be an example of oncolytic vectors developed against rare cancers. Yescarta and Kymriah will showcase the use of retrovirus and lentivirus vectors in the autologous ex vivo production of chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T), licenced for the treatment of refractory leukaemias and lymphomas. Similar retroviral and lentiviral technology can be applied to autologous haematopoietic stem cells, exemplified by Strimvelis and Zynteglo, licenced treatments for adenosine deaminase-severe combined immunodeficiency (ADA-SCID) and β-thalassaemia respectively. Antisense oligonucleotide technologies will be highlighted through Onpattro and Tegsedi, RNA interference drugs licenced for familial transthyretin (TTR) amyloidosis, and Spinraza, a splice-switching treatment for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). An initial comparison of the effectiveness of AAV and oligonucleotide therapies in SMA is possible with Zolgensma, an AAV serotype 9 vector, and Spinraza. Through these examples of marketed gene therapies and gene cell therapies, we will discuss the expanding applications of such novel technologies to previously intractable rare diseases.

Abstract
Signal-enhanced or hyperpolarized nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy stands out as a unique tool to monitor real-time enzymatic reactions in living cells. The singlet state of para-hydrogen is thereby one source of spin order that can be converted into largely enhanced signals of e.g. metabolites. Here, we have investigated a parahydrogen-induced polarization (PHIP) approach as a biological assay for in vitro cellular metabolic characterization. Here, we demonstrate the possibility to perform consecutive measurements yielding metabolic information on the same sample. We observed a strongly reduced pyruvate-to-lactate conversion rate (flux) of a Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer cell line L1236 treated with FK866, an inhibitor of nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) affecting the amount of NAD+ and thus NADH in cells. In the consecutive measurement the flux was recovered by NADH to the same amount as in the single-measurement-per-sample and provides a promising new analytical tool for continuous real-time studies combinable with bioreactors and lab-on-a-chip devices in the future.

Abstract
With high rates of morbidity and mortality, cancer continues to pose a serious threat to public health on a global scale. Considering the discrepancies in metabolism between cancer and normal cells, metabolism-based anti-cancer biopharmaceuticals are gaining importance. Normal cells can synthesize arginine, but they can also take up extracellular arginine, making it a semi-essential amino acid. Arginine auxotrophy occurs when a cancer cell has abnormalities in the enzymes involved in arginine metabolism and relies primarily on extracellular arginine to support its biological functions. Taking advantage of arginine auxotrophy in cancer cells, arginine deprivation, which can be induced by introducing recombinant human arginase I (rhArg I), is being developed as a broad-spectrum anti-cancer therapy. This has led to the development of various rhArg I variants, which have shown remarkable anti-cancer activity. This article discusses the importance of arginine auxotrophy in cancer and different arginine-hydrolyzing enzymes that are in various stages of clinical development and reviews the need for a novel rhArg I that mitigates the limitations of the existing therapies. Further, we have also analyzed the necessity as well as the significance of using rhArg I to treat various arginine-auxotrophic cancers while considering the importance of their genetic profiles, particularly urea cycle enzymes.

Abstract
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) of the thyroid is a very rare condition. Swelling of the neck is the usual presentation among patients. Of all thyroid malignancies, only a very small portion accounts for NHL of the thyroid. Here, we present two cases of diffuse large B-cell NHL of the thyroid. Preoperative diagnosis helps in the management of patients with chemotherapy, but in rare cases, surgical removal of the thyroid is done to reduce obstructive symptoms. The diagnosis is usually made based on fine-needle aspiration cytology and biopsy with immunohistochemistry. In these two cases, the patients presented with a history of a rapidly growing mass in the neck for three to four months, but the treatment modalities differed. In one of the cases, the patient received six cycles of chemotherapy, and in the other case, the patient underwent a total thyroidectomy, followed by six cycles of chemotherapy, though chemotherapy is the standard treatment option over surgical removal of the thyroid.

Design of Novel Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase Inhibitors for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma: Molecular Docking, Molecular Dynamics, and Density Functional Theory Studies on Gold Nanoparticles. Abstract
Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas are a diverse collection of lymphoproliferative cancers that are much less predictable than Hodgkin's lymphomas with a far greater tendency to metastasize to extranodal sites. A quarter of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cases develop at extranodal sites and the majority of them involve nodal and extranodal sites. The most common subtypes include follicular lymphoma, chronic/small lymphocytic leukaemia, mantel cell lymphoma, and marginal zone lymphoma. Umbralisib is one of the latest PI3Kδ inhibitors in clinical trials for several hematologic cancer indications. In this study, new umbralisib analogues were designed and docked to the active site of PI3Kδ, the main target of the phosphoinositol-3-kinase/Akt/mammalian target of the rapamycin pathway (PI3K/AKT/mTOR). This study resulted in eleven candidates, with strong binding to PI3Kδ with a docking score between -7.66 and -8.42 Kcal/mol. The docking analysis of ligand-receptor interactions between umbralisib analogues bound to PI3K showed that their interactions were mainly controlled by hydrophobic interactions and, to a lesser extent, by hydrogen bonding. In addition, the MM-GBSA binding free energy was calculated. Analogue 306 showed the highest free energy of binding with -52.22 Kcal/mol. To identify the structural changes and the complexes' stability of proposed ligands, molecular dynamic simulation was used. Based on this research finding, the best-designed analogue, analogue 306, formed a stable ligand-protein complex. In addition, pharmacokinetics and toxicity analysis using the QikProp tool demonstrated that analogue 306 had good absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion properties. Additionally, it has a promising predicted profile in immune toxicity, carcinogenicity, and cytotoxicity. In addition, analogue 306 had stable interactions with gold nanoparticles that have been studied using density functional theory calculations. The best interaction with gold was observed at the oxygen atom number 5 with -29.42 Kcal/mol. Further in vitro and in vivo investigations are recommended to be carried out to verify the anticancer activity of this analogue.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To retrospectively analyze the general characteristics of MALT lymphoma in the head and neck and provide clinicians with new ideas for diagnosis and treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS 114 (94.2%) of 121 complete follow-up data were obtained. A single-center retrospective study was conducted on 114 patients with MALT diagnosed from 2010 to 2020. RESULTS 42 (36.8%) of 114 patients had Sjogren's syndrome before, and there is a significant difference in gender between SS-MALT and non-SS-MALT. As for the treatment method, there is no significant difference in the overall survival between surgery with or without chemoradiotherapy. CONCLUSION MALT lymphoma of the head and neck is clinically characterized by a favorable prognosis, always associated with SS. Surgery with or without chemoradiotherapy has little difference in the prolongation of survival time.

Abstract
Head and neck cancer (HNC), also known as the cancer that can affect the structures between the dura mater and the pleura, is the 6th most common type of cancer. This heterogeneous group of malignancies is usually treated with a combination of surgery and radio- and chemotherapy, depending on if the disease is localized or at an advanced stage. However, most HNC patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, resulting in the death of half of these patients. Thus, the prognosis of advanced or recurrent/metastatic HNC, especially HNC squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), is notably poorer than the prognosis of patients diagnosed with localized HNC. This review explores the epidemiology and etiologic factors of HNC, the histopathology of this heterogeneous cancer, and the diagnosis methods and treatment approaches currently available. Moreover, special interest is given to the novel therapies used to treat HNC subtypes with worse prognosis, exploring immunotherapies and targeted/multi-targeted drugs undergoing clinical trials, as well as light-based therapies (i.e., photodynamic and photothermal therapies).

Abstract
The ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) is a proteolytic machinery for the degradation of protein substrates that are post-translationally conjugated with ubiquitin polymers through the enzymatic action of ubiquitin ligases, in a process termed ubiquitylation. Ubiquitylation of substrates precedes their proteolysis via proteasomes, a hierarchical feature of UPS. E3-ubiquitin ligases recruit protein substrates providing specificity for ubiquitylation. Innate and adaptive immune system networks are regulated by ubiquitylation and substrate degradation via E3-ligases/UPS. Deregulation of E3-ligases/UPS components in immune cells is involved in the development of lymphomas, neurodevelopmental abnormalities, and cancers. Targeting E3-ligases for therapeutic intervention provides opportunities to mitigate the unintended broad effects of 26S proteasome inhibition. Recently, bifunctional moieties such as PROTACs and molecular glues have been developed to re-purpose E3-ligases for targeted degradation of unwanted aberrant proteins, with a potential for clinical use. Here, we summarize the involvement of E3-ligases/UPS components in immune-related diseases with perspectives.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Little is known about the epidemiology of lymphomas occurring in oral and para-oral sites, especially in developing countries such as Egypt. Hence, the aim of this study was to describe the frequency and time trends of oral and para-oral lymphomas in Cairo governorate from 2010 to 2019, with forecasting to 2030, and to examine relations between age, gender, site and type of lymphoma. METHODS Histopathological reports of patients diagnosed with oral and para-oral lymphomas from 2010 to 2019 were retrospectively retrieved from archives of six different centers in Cairo governorate. Data regarding age, gender and site was collected and associations between types of lymphoma and these variables were detected using appropriate statistical methods. The significance level was set at p ≤ 0.05. Time series analysis was used to determine the trend of lymphoma frequency within 10 years of the study and to predict frequency until 2030. RESULTS Lymphomas constituted 2.86% of oral and para-oral lesions. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma was more common than Hodgkin lymphoma. Patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma showed a higher median age than patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (p = 0.001). Non-Hodgkin lymphoma was more prone to occur intra-orally (p = 0.014). No statistical significance was observed in gender distribution between Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Even though no specific time trend was observed from 2010 to 2019, forecasting for frequency of lymphomas through 10 years (2020 to 2030) showed a predicted increase. CONCLUSIONS The findings of this study were consistent with majority of other studies held in various geographic regions. The study revealed that frequency of oral and para-oral lymphomas in Cairo governorate is expected to rise; hence, oral pathologists should be more clinically suspicious and expect to encounter these lesions more in their practice within the upcoming years.

Background
Universally maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) are used as tools for response assessment in Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) patients. Our objectives are to evaluate the predictive potential and response assessment of total lesion glycolysis (TLG) and metabolic tumor volume (MTV)—maximum three target lesions—as another alternatives and to investigate the correlation between TLG and MTV with LDH.
Results
Both initial SUVmax and TLG were significantly associated with early patient response (p value 0.03, 0.047, respectively). An optimal threshold for SUVmax and TLG less than or equal 19.52, and 158.6, respectively, correlated with better therapeutic response. Initial LDH was moderately correlated with initial values of TLG (rs = 0.4, p value 0.01), MTV (rs = 0.44, p value 0.01) and SUVmax (rs = 0.42, p value 0.01).
Conclusion
TLG in correlation with LDH can be significant prognostic factors of therapeutic response in HL. They can be used for the identification of a subset of HL patients with a better outcome.

Abstract
Hematological cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma have traditionally been treated with chemo and radiotherapy approaches. Introduction of immunotherapies for treatment of these diseases has led to patient remissions that would not have been possible with traditional approaches. In this critical review we identify main disease characteristics, symptoms, and current treatment options. Five common immunotherapies, namely checkpoint inhibitors, vaccines, cell-based therapies, antibodies, and oncolytic viruses, are described, and their applications in hematological cancers are critically discussed.

Abstract
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is a lymphoproliferative disorder that principally displays lymph node involvement but can also spread to extranodal sites such as the spleen. Primary splenic NHL arises in the spleen and, due to its atypical presentation, can sometimes present similarly to other splenic conditions. This review aims to highlight how primary splenic NHL can be effectively differentiated from other splenic conditions, such as splenic abscesses. PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, Google, and Google Scholar were used to identify articles mainly focused on splenic non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and splenic abscess. The search was limited to articles published from January 2005 to November 2022. Of the 229 total articles amassed, only 34 were selected and narratively reviewed. From a thorough review of the current literature, it is evident that splenic NHL displays a similar clinical picture to other splenic conditions, namely splenic abscesses. One cannot easily differentiate between the two conditions, both clinically and via diagnostic imaging. Lymphadenopathy, a hallmark sign of nodal NHL, may or may not be present in splenic NHL. Ultimately, splenectomy with biopsy and immunohistochemical staining (IHC) may be required to confirm the diagnosis. In cases of suspected splenic NHL or splenic abscess with little-to-no symptomatic improvement after medication administration, splenectomy followed by histopathological examination may be required for a definitive diagnosis and proper treatment.

Abstract
Dysregulation of sphingolipid metabolism plays a complex role in hematological malignancies, beginning with the first historical link between sphingolipids and apoptosis discovered in HL-60 leukemic cells. Numerous manuscripts have reviewed the field including the early discoveries that jumpstarted the studies. Many studies discussed here support a role for sphingolipids, such as ceramide, in combinatorial therapeutic regimens to enhance anti-leukemic effects and reduce resistance to standard therapies. Additionally, inhibitors of specific nodes of the sphingolipid pathway, such as sphingosine kinase inhibitors, significantly reduce leukemic cell survival in various types of leukemias. Acid ceramidase inhibitors have also shown promising results in acute myeloid leukemia. As the field moves rapidly, here we aim to expand the body of literature discussed in previously published reviews by focusing on advances reported in the latter part of the last decade.

Abstract
Disease Overview: Lymphomas, both Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, are one of the most common cancers in the head and neck area. The extra-nodal variant of lymphoma is rare, but it is the most common non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (ENHL). Furthermore, it is difficult to diagnose due to its non-specific clinical and radiological features, which can mimic other benign or malignant clinical manifestations. The study: This retrospective study involved 72 patients affected by head and neck ENHL in the period between 2003 and 2017. All patients underwent a diagnostic-therapeutic procedure according to the guidelines, and a 5-year follow-up. Based on the location of the swelling at the time of diagnosis, patients were divided into two groups: oral and non-oral ENHLs. Statistical analysis was performed using Kaplan-Meier analysis with the log-rank test. In addition, Fisher's exact test was applied to the two groups to evaluate and compare variances (the acceptable significance level was set at p < 0.05). Conclusion: ENHL with oral localization is much more aggressive than ENHL with non-oral localization, with a death rate of 40% (versus 4.76 for the non-oral one). In fact, between the two groups, there is a statistically significant difference in mortality, with a p-value of 0.0001 and 0.0002, respectively.

Abstract
Background Survival rates are usually used to evaluate the effect of cancer treatment and prevention. This study aims to analyze the 5-year relative survival of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in United States using population-based cancer registry data. Methods A period analysis was used to evaluate the improvement in long-term prognosis of patients with NHL from 2004 to 2018, and a generalized linear model was developed to predict the 5-year relative survival rates of patients during 2019–2023 based on data from the SEER database stratified by age, sex, race and subtype. Results In this study, relative survival improved for all NHL, although the extent of improvement varied by sex, age group and lymphoma subtype. Survival improvement was also noted for NHL subtypes, although the extent varied, with marginal-zone lymphoma having the highest 5-year relative survival rate (92.5%) followed by follicular lymphoma (91.6%) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (87.3%). Across all subtypes, survival rates were slightly higher in females than in males. Survival rates are lower in the elderly than in the young. Furthermore, the study demonstrated that black patients had lower NHL survival rates than white patients. Survival rates for NHL were higher in rural areas than in urban areas. Patients with extra-nodal NHL had a higher survival rate than patients with nodal NHL. Conclusion Overall, patient survival rates for NHL gradually improved during 2004–2018. The trend continues with a survival rate of 75.2% for the period 2019–2023. Analysis by NHL subtype and subgroups indicating that etiology and risk factors may differ by subtype. Identification of population-specific prevention strategies and treatments for each subtype can be aided by understanding these variations.

Abstract
Tumor immune evasion is a lineament of cancer. Endothelial monocyte activating polypeptide-II (EMAP II) has been assumed to impact tumor immune escape significantly. EMAP II was first reported in the murine methylcholanthrene A-induced fibrosarcoma supernatant and identified as a tumor-derived cytokine. This study evaluated EMAP II expression in peripheral blood cells and its association with treatment outcome, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels, and clinical criteria in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) patients. EMAP II expression on different blood cells obtained from the peripheral blood of 80 NHL patients was evaluated by two-color flow cytometry. The study reported that EMAP II expression was significantly increased in peripheral blood cells in patients with NHL compared to normal volunteers (P < 0.001). Additionally, EMAP II expression levels on blood cells decreased in complete remission (CR) while they increased in relapse. This study showed coexpression of EMAP II and CD36 on peripheral lymphocytes in NHL patients but not in healthy controls (P < 0.001). EMAP II expression on blood cells was associated with increased serum LDH levels. Furthermore, the percentages of EMAP II+/CD36+ peripheral lymphocytes were significantly higher in relapse than in CR and healthy controls. Analyses revealed that higher percentages of EMAP II+CD36+ cells were positively correlated with hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, and an advanced (intermediate and high risk) NHL stage. The results assume that EMAP II might be involved in NHL development and pathogenesis.
