Abstract
This research examines canal transportation and centering ability of single-file systems when operated in continuous rotation or reciprocation. Sixty J-shaped resin blocks were used. The specimens were divided into two main groups (n = 30). Then, based on the motion used to operate the instruments, each group was subdivided into two subgroups (n = 15). Group A1: One Curve/rotation, Group A2: One Curve/clockwise reciprocation, Group B1: WaveOne Gold/Reciprocation, Group B2: WaveOne Gold/counter-clockwise rotation. Pre- and post-instrumentation images were obtained using digital microscope. Canal transportation was measured at five levels. A non-significant difference (p > 0.05) resulted between two motions at all levels. However, group A1 showed significantly less transportation at levels 3 and 4 (p ≤ 0.05), also more centered preparation at level 4 (p ≤ 0.05) than group B1. Within the limitations of this study, the apical transportation and centering ability of single-file systems are unaffected by different kinematics.

Abstract
Objective Using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), this study compared three rotary file systems-XP Endoshaper, Hyflex CM, and K3 XF-for centering, canal transportation, and root canal area growth. Materials and Methods The rotating file system randomly separated 60 removed human mandibular molars into three groups (n = 20). Manufacturer-recommended root canal instrumentation was done. Specialized software examined pre- and post-instrumentation CBCT scans. Centering ability was measured by canal transportation and root canal area expansion at different levels from the apex. Results The Hyflex CM file system had the best centering and the least canal transit at all levels (P < 0.05). XP Endoshaper increased the root canal area the most (P < 0.05). The K3 XF file system had average centering and canal transfer results. Conclusion The Hyflex CM system centered well, whereas the XP Endoshaper system increased the root canal area the most. The clinical context and therapeutic goals should determine the rotating file system.

Abstract
Aim The aim of the present study was to compare the incidence of postoperative pain in single sitting root canal treatment after using two reciprocating and two continuous rotating file systems. Methodology One hundred and four permanent mandibular canine and first premolar teeth were selected for the study and were divided into two groups 1 and 2 comprising 52 teeth each. Group 1 was treated using reciprocating file systems and was subdivided into two subgroups A and B using WaveOne Gold (WOG) and Reciproc Blue (RB), respectively. Group 2 was treated using continuous rotating file systems and was divided into two subgroups A and B using One Curve (OC) and Vortex Blue (VB), respectively. Treatments were performed in a single sitting. After the visit, the patients were given a prescription for ibuprofen 400 mg to be taken every 6 h if they experience pain. Participants were asked to rate the intensity of the postoperative pain on a visual analog scale according to four classes (no pain, mild pain, moderate pain, and severe pain) after 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, and 7 days. Patients were also asked to record the number of prescribed analgesic medication tablets taken at these time points. Results There was a statistically significant difference (P = 0.00) among the reciprocating file systems and continuous file systems regarding the incidence of postoperative pain after 24, 48, and 72 h which signifies that pain incidence and duration is less with respect to reciprocation instrumentation as compared to continuous instrumentation. Conclusion The use of Reciproc instrumentation system (WOG and RB) showed significantly less intensity and duration of posttreatment pain compared to the single-file rotary system (OC and VB) in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis with apical periodontitis.

Abstract
Aim: Modern endodontics has advanced radically in the recent years, and recently, it has been focused on the concept of mini-invasive treatments. This study aimed to evaluate the sections of the root apices at 1 mm from the radiographic apex using a high-resolution CBCT. Materials and Methods: The current study was performed in three different dental centers. One hundred maxillary permanent premolars (50 first and 50 s premolars) were analyzed using measurement software of the CBCT radiographic pictures. The mesio-distal (M-D) and bucco–palatal (B-P) sections were measured at 1 mm from the radiographic apex of each root. The section of 0.3 mm or less, 1 mm from the anatomical apex of the upper premolars, was decided as the limit value. All values were statistically analyzed. Results: The mean value in the 304 sections analyzed was 1.03 (±0.37). Only 19 sections (6.3%) had measurements less than or equal to 0.3 mm. All these 19 sections were from first premolars (p = 0.002). Conclusions: Based on the data obtained, the authors recommend performing conservative shaping when endodontically treating first maxillary premolars, especially when a pre-operative CBCT to evaluate the actual apical dimensions cannot be acquired.

Abstract
This study aims to develop and analyse a finite element model of the endodontic nickel-titanium (NiTi) instrument during the root canal treatment (RCT). The 3D model of the tooth and the endodontic instrument has been created using computer-aided design software. The nonlinear explicit dynamic analysis in the CAE package (ANSYS) has been used to analyse the mechanical behaviour of endodontic instruments such as total deformation, equivalent elastic strain, and equivalent stress during canal preparation. The mechanical behaviour of three commercially available endodontic NiTi alloy instruments such as WaveOne Gold (WOG), 2Shape 1 (TS1) and 2Shape 2 (TS2) endodontic files was evaluated using FEA. Consequently, the effect of deformation, equivalent stress and equivalent elastic strain on endodontic files during cleaning and shaping are investigated and compared. The results show that the total deformation and equivalent elastic strain are maximum in the TS1 endodontic file in comparison to TS2 and WOG files.

Abstract
Objectives The target of the current study was to evaluate and compare the shaping ability and buckling resistance of various single-file systems (TruNatomy [TRN], WaveOne gold [WOG], and XP-Endo Shaper [XPS]). Materials and Methods Thirty recently extracted human first mandibular molars were chosen with severely curved mesiobuccal (MB) canals. Following access cavity preparation and determination of working length, teeth were randomly divided into three groups (n = 10) according to the instrumentation technique used, Group 1 (TRN), Group 2 (WOG), and Group 3 (XPS). Preinstrumentation and postinstrumentation, cone-beam computed tomography images were recorded at 3, 5, and 8 mm from the apex representing apical, middle, and coronal levels under the same circumstances, superimposed, and then canal transportation was determined using a particular equation. For buckling resistance calculation, files were loaded in the axial direction of the shaft and the maximum load was determined during the deflection of the file. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey test at 5% significance level were used to analyze data. Pearson's correlation between shaping ability and buckling resistance was performed. Results XPS and TRN displayed significantly less canal transportation than WOG at the coronal and middle levels. While WOG recorded the highest value of buckling resistance, XPS recorded the least. Conclusions XPS and TRN preserved the original curvature slightly better than WOG, while WOG reported the highest buckling resistance. There was a positive correlation between canal transportation and instrument resistance to buckle. Clinical Relevance Preservation of the original shape of the canal after instrumentation is beneficial.

Abstract
Background Various systems of nickel-titanium (NiTi) instrument have long been commercially available. However, the preparation of narrow and curved root canals has always been challenging. The purpose of this study was to compare the shaping ability of two NiTi systems (2Shape and NeoNiTi) in severely curved root canals with different morphological patterns using micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT). Methods A total of 22 human extracted permanent teeth of mandibular first molars, with the exact mesial angle of curvature of 25 and 35 degrees, according to Schneider’s technique, were distributed randomly into two groups (group I: 2Shape, group II: NeoNiTi) based on the rotary system used (n = 22). The groups were subdivided into two subgroups corresponding to the angle of canal curvature (25° and 35°) (n = 11). Canals were scanned using Micro-CT pre- and post-preparation to assess the volume of dentin removed; canal transportation; and canal centering ratio at 3, 6, and 9 mm from the apex. The Mann–Whitney U test was utilized to determine any significant differences between the two systems. The level of statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in volume of dentin removed; canal transportation; and centering ability for 25° and 35° canal curvatures at 3, 6, and 9 mm from the apex (coronal, middle, and apical) thirds (p > 0.05). At the middle third, the NeoNiTi group demonstrated a statistically significant increase in volume of dentin removed for 35° canal curvatures compared to the 2Shape group. Conclusion Within the limitation of our in vitro study, 2Shape and NeoNiTi systems with severely curved canals were confirmed to be relatively safe in preparation and to respect original canal anatomy. Nevertheless, NeoNiTi instruments produced more centered preparation and minimal canal deviation compared to the 2Shape system.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: The aim of the present study is to compare the efficacy of three root canal preparation systems in the shaping of 3D-printed root canal replicas of single rooted teeth. Materials and Methods: Sixty 3D-printed root canal replicas were produced and divided into three groups, each consisting of twenty samples. Each group was shaped with a different instrument: Reciproc Blue R25/08 (VDW GmbH, Munich, Gemany), WaveOne Gold Primary 25/07 (Dentsply Sirona, Ballaigues, Switzerland), and ProTaper Gold F2 25/08 (Denstply Sirona). To ensure the reproducibility of pre- and post-operative CBCT images of the root canals, the endodontic printed replicas were placed in a mould of silicon impression material. A cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) software was used to compare pre- and post-instrumentation images collected at three levels of the root canal length: 3, 6, and 9 mm from the apical foramen. The amount of transportation, centring ability, and curvature angle after shaping were evaluated for each system. The results were statistically analysed and compared using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: Regarding the transportation of the root canal after shaping, significant differences between groups at 3 mm (p = 0.010721) and 6 mm (p = 0.000046) were recorded in the mesio-distal direction, while in the bucco-lingual significant differences were only observed at 6 mm (p = 0.000554). Reciproc Blue removed more dentin from the mesial and buccal wall of the root canal. When evaluating the centring ability of the three systems, significant differences were observed between the groups at the level of 9 mm (p = 0.037258) in the mesio-distal direction, and at the level of 6 mm (p = 0.038197) in the bucco-lingual direction. Significant differences of the canal curvature angle after shaping were also observed between groups (p = 0.000001). Reciproc Blue straightened the curvature the most, while ProTaper Gold the least. Conclusions: All systems produced minor root canal transportation. No instrument was able to achieve a perfect centring preparation of the root canal. All systems produced a small degree of root canal straightening.

Abstract
Since the introduction of nickel-titanium endodontic instruments, there have been a myriad of developments which can be confusing and sometimes contradictory. This article seeks to review and articulate these advances, and allow the reader to better understand the benefits and the limitations of the systems available. Ultimately, this helps clinicians to engage more confidently with trade and have a more informed choice of the most appropriate file to use for each individual endodontic case. All this should facilitate more predictable endodontic outcomes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the shaping ability of four different single-file systems using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty mesiobuccal and mesiolingual canals of permanent mandibular molars were randomly assigned to four groups according to the file used; WaveOne Gold, RECIPROC Blue, HyFlex EDM, and One Shape (n = 20). The samples were scanned using micro-CT for the preinstrumentation record; then the canals were instrumented and scanned for the postinstrumentation records. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS The data were then analyzed statistically using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the level of significance set at α = 0.05. RESULTS The results of canal centering ratio and canal transportation showed that no significant difference was found among the four file groups at the middle and the coronal levels. However, a significant difference was found at the apical level (p < 0.05), where WaveOne Gold showed the best centering ratio and the least amount of canal transportation. The change in the canal volume was significant at the coronal level (p < 0.05), whereas the change in the canal volume was higher for the HyFlex EDM group than the other groups. No significant difference was found between the other groups at the apical level, middle level, or in the total percentage of canal volume. CONCLUSION WaveOne Gold produced a more centralized canal preparation with a lesser amount of transportation at the apical level. HyFlex EDM showed the highest canal volumetric change at the coronal level. The interim design of the endodontic files has a high impact on the behavior of the file inside the root canal.
