Abstract
BACKGROUND Lavender oil (LO) possesses anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, sedative, cardio-protective, and antinociceptive properties. Thrombosis and inflammation are interplayed processes that interact and influence one another. Our research compared three routes of administration to assess the efficacy of pretreatment with LO on carrageenan-induced thrombosis in rat tail. MATERIALS AND METHODS Wistar-Bratislava white rats were randomly divided into five groups of ten rats each and pretreated 3 consecutive days prior the inducement of thrombosis to with one dose of LO (150 mg/kg body weight (b.w.)): per os by gavage (TLOPO group), intraperitoneal (TIPLO group) and subcutaneous (TSCLO group). We also have a control (C, received saline solution 0.9% and DMSO (vehicle) 1 ml intraperitoneal (i.p.)) group and a group with thrombosis (T group, received saline solution 0.9% plus vehicle 1 ml i.p.). Histopathological examinations were conducted together with measurements of the circulating levels of three oxidative stress markers, antioxidant effect (TAC and THIOL), and three proinflammatory cytokines (TNF- α, RANTES, and MCP-1). RESULTS When administered intraperitoneally, lavender oil has the best efficacy on circulating levels of oxidative stress parameters (MDA, NOx, TOS), one oxidative stress marker (THIOL), and all studied proinflammatory cytokines (p-values < 0.02). Moreover, TIPLO displayed the closest values for bleeding and clotting time to the C group, as well as the lowest length of the thrombus than the T, TPOLO, and TSCLO groups (p-values < 0.001). The TIPLO group has histological appearance comparable to the C group, with the exception of the presence of oedema. CONCLUSIONS Lavender oil pretreatment with intraperitoneal administration as three days, one-dose per day, showed anti-inflammatory and antioxidant efficacy in experimentally induced thrombosis.

Abstract
Bee venom (BV), a type of defensive venom, has been confirmed to have favorable activities, such as anti-tumor, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-infectivity effects, etc. This study reviewed the recent progress on the pharmacological effects and mechanisms of BV and its main components against cancer, neurological disorders, inflammatory diseases, pain, microbial diseases, liver, kidney, lung and muscle injury, and other diseases in literature during the years 2018-2021. The related target proteins of BV and its main components against the diseases include Akt, mTOR, JNK, Wnt-5α, HIF-1α, NF-κB, JAK2, Nrf2, BDNF, Smad2/3, AMPK, and so on, which are referring to PI3K/Akt/mTOR, MAPK, Wnt/β-catenin, HIF-1α, NF-κB, JAK/STAT, Nrf2/HO-1, TrkB/CREB/BDNF, TGF-β/Smad2/3, and AMPK signaling pathways, etc. Further, with the reported targets, the potential effects and mechanisms on diseases were bioinformatically predicted via Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway, disease ontology semantic and enrichment (DOSE) and protein-protein interaction (PPI) analyses. This review provides new insights into the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of BV and its main components on diseases.

Abstract
IL-13 induces mucus metaplasia, which causes airway obstruction in asthma. Bee venom (BV) and its components have shown anti-inflammatory effects in allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis and asthma. In this study, we investigated the effect of BV on IL-13-induced mucus metaplasia through activation of the signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT6), and regulation of SAM-pointed domain containing Ets-like factor (SPDEF) and forkhead box A2 (FOXA2) in the airway epithelia cell line A549. In A549 cells, BV (1.0 µg/mL) inhibited IL-13 (10 ng/mL)-induced AKT phosphorylation, increase in SPDEF protein expression, and decrease in FOXA2 protein expression—but not STAT6 phosphorylation. BV also prevented the IL-13-induced increase in mucin 5AC (MUC5AC) mRNA and protein expression. Moreover, we observed that inhibition of phosphoinositide 3 kinase (PI3K)/AKT using LY294002 (50 µM) could reverse the alterations in FOXA2 and MUC5AC expression -by IL-13 and BV. However, LY294002 did not affect IL-13- and BV-induced changes in SPDEF expression. These findings indicate that BV inhibits MUC5AC production through the regulation of SPDEF and FOXA2. The inhibition of MUC5AC production through FOXA2 is mediated via the suppression of PI3K/AKT activation by BV. BV may be helpful in the prevention of mucus metaplasia in asthma.

Abstract
Peptides obtained from different animal species have gained importance recently due to research that aims to develop biopharmaceuticals with therapeutic potential. In this sense, arthropod venoms have drawn attention, not only because of their toxicity but mainly for the search for molecules with various bioactivities, including anti-inflammatory activity. The purpose of the present study is to gather data available in the literature on new peptides derived from arthropod species with anti-inflammatory potential. This systematic review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. Studies on peptides from arthropods that display anti-inflammatory activity were retrieved from PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. The bibliographic research started in 2020 and searched papers without a limit on the publication date. The articles were analyzed using a search string containing the following terms: "Peptides" and "Anti-inflammatory", in combinations such as "Ant", "Bee", "Wasp", "Crab", "Shrimp", "Scorpion", "Spider", "Tick" and "Centipedes". Besides, a search was carried out in the databases with the terms: "Peptides", "Antitumor", or "Anticancer", and "Arthropods". Articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria totalized 171, and these served for data extraction. Additionally, the present review included anti-inflammatory peptides with anticancer properties. Peptides with confirmed anti-inflammatory activity were from insects (ants, bees, and wasps), crustaceans (shrimp and crabs), arachnids (scorpions, spiders, and ticks), and centipedes. These arthropod peptides act mainly by decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines as analyzed in vitro and in vivo. Some showed significant antineoplastic activity, working in essential cellular pathways against malignant neoplasms.

Abstract
AIM To analyze the effects of acupoint injection in the treatment of non-dialysis dependent chronic kidney disease through a systematic review with meta-analysis. METHODS This systematic review with meta-analysis was conducted following the recommendations of the declaration of PRISMA. Full-text literature of randomized controlled trial of acupoint injection therapy for non-dialysis chronic kidney disease was searched in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Internet, the Chinese Scientific Journal Database, the Wanfang Database, China Biology Medicine database. The efficacy and safety of acupoint injection for non-dialysis chronic kidney disease were evaluated. RESULTS Seventeen studies containing 1414 patients met the criteria. The results shows that acupoint injection combined with basic treatment can significantly improve the levels of Ccr (WMD = 4.81; 95% CI:2.54 to 7.08) and Hb (WMD = 4.56; 95% CI:1.72 to 7.39), reduce the levels of BUN (WMD = -0.90; 95% CI: -1.26 to -0.54)and Scr (WMD = -7.66; 95% CI: -12.39 to -2.93), and improve the effective rate (OR = 3.12; 95% CI: 2.29 to 4.26). CONCLUSION Our current analysis showed that combined acupoint injection therapy can reduce the levels of BUN and Scr, and increase Ccr and Hb in non-dialysis CKD patients. However, the existing evidence is still insufficient due to the high risk of included trial bias, and future research needs to improve methodological quality.Registration number: CRD42020168143.
