Abstract
Purpose Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) has grown rapidly in prevalence over the past few decades, and central neck lymph node metastasis (CNLNM) is associated with poor prognoses. However, whether to carry out preventive central neck lymph node dissection (CNLND) is still controversial. We aimed to construct a prediction model of CNLNM to facilitate making clinical surgical regimens. Methods A total of 691 patients with PTC between November 2018 and December 2021 were included in our study. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed on basic information and clinicopathological characteristics, as well as ultrasound characteristics (American College of Radiology (ACR) scores). The prediction model was constructed and performed using a nomogram, and then discriminability, calibrations, and clinical applicability were evaluated. Results Five variables, namely, male, age >55 years, clinical lymph node positivity, tumor size ≥1 cm, and ACR scores ≥6, were independent predictors of CNLNM in the multivariate analysis, which were eventually included to construct a nomogram model. The area under the curve (AUC) of the model was 0.717, demonstrating great discriminability. A calibration curve was developed to validate the calibration of the present model by bootstrap resampling, which indicated that the predicted and actual values were in good agreement and had no differentiation from the ideal model. The decision curve analysis (DCA) indicated that the prediction model has good clinical applicability. Conclusions Our non-invasive prediction model combines ACR scores with clinicopathological features presented through nomogram and has shown good performance and application prospects for the prediction of CNLNM in PTCs.

Abstract
This study aims to assess the prevalence, clinical, and ultrasonography (US) in thyroid screening in healthy subjects with general symptoms of thyroid abnormality in low iodine intake in Bajulmati primary care center, East Java Indonesia. We retrospectively reviewed US thyroid examination of 74 subjects with symptoms of mass in the neck, shaky, sleep difficulties, over sweating, and chronic fatigue on September 15th, 2021. Following the WHO guidelines, subjects also underwent physical examination in which the result were classified into 3 categories, that is, no palpable nor visible goiter, palpable but no visible goiter, as well as palpable and visible goiter. We evaluate US thyroid characteristics following Korean Society of Thyroid Radiology guidelines. Image analysis was reviewed by 4 general radiologists with 2 to 13 years' experience. Categorical variables were compared using chi-squared or Fisher exact tests. Correlation between variables was measured with gamma statistics. Statistical analyses were conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0. A P-value < .05 was considered to indicate statistical significance. Of the 74 subjects, 32 (43.2%) show abnormalities. Statistical analysis showed no significant differences in the result of thyroid US in subjects with complaint fatigue (P = .464), insomnia (P = .777), over sweating (P = .158), and tremor (P = .778), but there were significant differences with the complaint of mass in the neck (P = .008). Furthermore, there was also a strong correlation between goiter palpation and US thyroid result (R = 0.773, P = .00). We conclude there were significant differences in US result of patients with and without complaint of mass in the neck. We also found a strong correlation between goiter palpation and US examination. Clinical findings, laboratory examination, cytology and molecular markers, patients' age, nodules size, and ultrasound features should be considered for the treatment planning.

Abstract
This study aimed to compare the diagnostic performances of six commonly used ultrasound-based risk stratification systems for distinguishing follicular thyroid adenoma (FTA) from follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC), including the American Thyroid Association Sonographic Pattern System (ATASPS), ultrasound classification systems proposed by American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American College of Endocrinology, and Associazione Medici Endocrinology (AACE/ACE/AME), Korean thyroid imaging reporting and data system (K-TIRADS), European Thyroid Association for the imaging reporting and data system (EU-TIRADS), American College of Radiology for the imaging reporting and data system (ACR-TIRADS), and 2020 Chinese Guidelines for Ultrasound Malignancy Risk Stratification of Thyroid Nodules (C-TIRADS). A total of 225 FTA or FTC patients were retrospectively analyzed, involving 251 thyroid nodules diagnosed by postoperative pathological examinations in three centers from January 2013 to October 2021. The diagnostic performances of six ultrasound-based risk stratification systems for distinguishing FTA from FTC were assessed by plotting the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and compared at different cut-off values. A total of 205 (81.67%) cases of FTA and 46 (18.33%) cases of FTC were involved in the present study. Compared with those of FTA, FTC presented more typical ultrasound features of solid component, hypoechoic, irregular margin and sonographic halo (all P<0.001). There were no significant differences in ultrasound features of calcification, shape and comet-tail artifacts between cases of FTA and FTC. There was a significant difference in the category of thyroid nodules assessed by the six ultrasound-based risk stratification systems (P<0.001). The areas under the curve (AUCs) of ATASPS, AACE/ACE/AME, K-TIRADS, EU-TIRADS, ACR-TIRADS and C-TIRADS in distinguishing FTA from FTC were 0.645, 0.729, 0.766, 0.635, 0.783 and 0.798, respectively. Our study demonstrated that all the six ultrasound-based risk stratification systems present potential in the differential diagnosis of FTA and FTC. Specifically, C-TIRADS exerts the best diagnostic performance among the Chinese patients. ATASPS possesses a high sensitivity, while K-TIRADS possesses a high specificity in distinguishing FTA from FTC.

Abstract
Differentiated thyroid cancers are more frequent in women than in men. These different frequencies may depend on differences in patient's behavior and in thyroid investigations. However, an impact on sexual hormones is likely, although this has been insufficiently elucidated. Estrogens may increase the production of mutagenic molecules in the thyroid cell and favor the proliferation and invasion of tumoral cells by regulating both the thyrocyte enzymatic machinery and the inflammatory process associated with tumor growth. On the other hand, the worse prognosis of thyroid cancer associated with the male gender is poorly explained.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The success of minimally invasive parathyroidectomy (MIP) relies on accurate localization of the abnormal parathyroid glands. Concordant findings on ultrasound (US) and 99mTc-scintigraphy (sestamibi) are currently considered the 'gold standard'. Computed tomography (CT) has also recently been used in preoperative planning. We sought to assess the accuracy of CT for localization of abnormal parathyroid glands in such patients. METHODS An audit of 75 patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) who underwent neck US and CT between 2017 and 2019 at our center as their first-line imaging. RESULTS All 75 patients underwent US and CT and 54 (72.0%) also had sestamibi. CT alone identified a potential target in all patients, of which the location was correct in 63 (84.0%). The overall combined sensitivity of US and CT was 88% (95% CI 78-94) and was higher than the combined sensitivity of US and sestamibi (65% [95% CI 53-76]; p < 0.001). Twenty-one patients (28.0%) had an ectopic gland, and the sensitivity of US and CT was 86% (95% CI 64-96) versus US and sestamibi (57% [95% CI 34-77]; p = 0.016). For adenomas < 1.0 g (n = 36; 48%), the accuracy of CT was 81% (95% CI 64-91) compared with 62% (95% CI 44-77) for US and sestamibi (p = 0.04). The correct preoperative diagnosis of multiglandular disease (n = 9; 12%) seemed to be the most difficult, with similar accuracy for US and sestamibi (40% [95% CI 14-73]) and US and CT (50% [95% CI 20-80]) (p > 0.99). CONCLUSION The combination of US and CT was able to correctly identify the location of the abnormal parathyroid in 88% of patients and, in comparison with US and sestamibi, had better diagnostic accuracy, especially for smaller and ectopic adenomas. This finding suggests that US and CT could be considered as a first-line imaging modality in patients with PHPT considered for MIP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess the prevalence of Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) in primary thyroid lymphoma (PTL) and whether it differs between mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). METHODS Electronic databases were searched for studies assessing HT prevalence in PTL, based on antithyroid antibodies, clinical history, or pathology. Pooled prevalence of HT and its association with histotype (MALT or DLBCL) were calculated. RESULTS Thirty-eight studies with 1,346 PTLs were included. Pooled prevalence results were 78.9% (any HT evidence), 65.3% (antithyroid antibodies), 41.7% (clinical history), and 64% (pathology). HT prevalence was significantly higher in MALT lymphoma than in DLBCL (P = .007) and in mixed DLBCL/MALT than in pure DLBCL (P = .002). CONCLUSIONS Overall, 78.9% of patients with PTL have any HT evidence, but only half of these had been clinically followed. The difference in HT prevalence suggests that a subset of DLBCL may not derive from MALT lymphoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Molecular imaging has generated a great demand to develop targeted contrast agents for MR imaging. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, we synthesized Src homology 2-containing phosphotyrosine phosphatase 2 (SHP2)-targeted and polylactic-co-glycolic acid--based nanoparticles (NPs), which encapsulated perfluoropentane and being chelated with gadolinium (Gd3+) as an efficient molecular probe for targeting MR imaging on thyroid carcinoma. RESULTS These NPs displayed practical properties and favorable biocompatibility in vitro. Furthermore, they showed abilities to specifically target thyroid cancer and enhance MRI as a contrast agent in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. CONCLUSION This novel MR molecular imaging based on this SHP2-targeted contrast agent provides a useful and non-invasive method for the early detection of thyroid carcinoma.

Abstract
Purpose The volume of thyroid cancer screening and subsequent thyroid fine-needle aspiration (FNA) have rapidly increased in South Korea. We analyzed the thyroid cancer diagnoses/thyroid FNA ratio according to the annual number of FNA to evaluate changes in the diagnosticefficiency of FNA. Materials and Methods This was a nationwide population-based retrospective cohort study. The overall thyroid cancer diagnoses/thyroid FNA ratio and annual incremental thyroid cancer diagnoses/incremental thyroid FNA ratio were indirectly calculated using data obtained from the Korea Central Cancer Registry database and the Korean National Health Insurance Service claims database from 2004 to 2012. Pearson correlation analyses were performed to evaluate the strength of linear associations between variables. Results The number of thyroid FNA increased from 28,596 to 177,805 (6.2-fold increase) from 2004 to 2012. The overall thyroid cancer diagnoses/thyroid FNA ratio decreased from 36.5% in 2004 to 25.1% in 2012 and was negatively correlated to the number of FNA (R=‒0.977, p < 0.001). The annual incremental thyroid cancer diagnoses/incremental thyroid FNA ratios (range, 15.3% to 30.7%) were always lower than the overall thyroid cancer diagnoses/thyroid FNA ratio in each year and also worsened according to the increase in the number of FNA (R=‒0.853, p=0.007). Conclusion The diagnostic performance of both overall and annual incremental thyroid FNA worsened, whereas the number of thyroid FNA procedures increased. More sophisticated indications for FNA are required to improve its diagnostic efficiency, considering the increased burden of screening-detected thyroid nodules.
